Well, once he finally did get going, Adi's long and torturous wait was mostly over - a simple touch and the scratches and muscles mended, leaving the druid to open and close in hand experimentally. Not completely healed, but... good enough, really.

"There..." He said. "Sorry about that. We should go find those leftovers before you devour yourself from the inside out, hm ?"

"That was awesome!" Adi declared once Elik had finished and she wasn't worried about interrupting. This response was probably not a surprise, but hey, it was true! "You've got to teach me to do that sometime. ...after shapeshifting, I guess."

"Oh, right!" She led the way into the kitchen, opening up the fridge and sniffing at the contents. "There's the stew, and it looks like Nashwa made sandwiches, too. What do you want?"

Adi, for her part, wasted no time whatsoever in grabbing half a sandwich and starting to inhale it.

Had Illisia not taught her that ? Elik was confused for a moment, but decided not to mention it. The thought of Illisia was still painful, like a black hole nagging, tearing at his heart.

"If you'd like, through I am sure you'd be able to find a better teacher for that."

The big, white, cold thing made him pause once more, even more so when Adrienne just opened it and pulled food out of it. "...What is that ?"

Night elves and refrigerators. Really. Through, finally, he answered the question. "A little of both, maybe ?"

Hey, he was hungry, too.

The werewolf thoguht for a moment, then decided to drop a hint...albeit a very tiny hint. "I'd rather learn from you. Um, well, if you don't mind."

"Oh." Swallowing a mouthful of sandwich, she grinned. "It's a fridge! It keeps stuff cold." She was going to have to give him the kitchen tour, at some point.

Adi handed him the other half of the turkey sandwich she'd grabbed and, quickly scarfing down the last of her half, pulled the large container of soup out of the refrigerator. Ladeling some into a smaller bowl, she popped it in the microwave for a couple minutes. "And this is a microwave," she explained, "It heats stuff up."

Once it was finished, she put it on the table for him and went to get another sandwich before sitting down.

Elik blinked. "Well... That's fine. I promise I'll do my best, then."

Hint status - mostly had frown right over head. With a woooosh sound.

....This was all so weird, and perhaps Elik's cluelessness might be made up by the way he stared at the microwave. It... made weird sounds. All these beepsbeepsbeeps. It sounded like something something a crazy gnome had made !

It did heat up the soup, through, and he did wait for Adi to join him before he started to eat. Wild he was, impolite he wasn't.

Happy that he accepted her preference for him to teach her, and endlessly amused by the way he stared at the microwave, Adi was still grinning when she sat down. She set to eating her second sandwich a little more slowly than the initial half she'd wolfed down. She'd just been so hungry!

Once she felt less desperately famished, she got back to talking - really, that she'd stopped for as long as two hours earlier was pretty exceptional. "So...tell me more about your world? Glyph said we might go visit sometime."

"Hmm..." He pondered, giving his spoonful of soup a quick blow-on to help it cool down a bit. "Well, it's very varied, depending on where you go, but where my kind lives... Well, when I was there last, the whole population was mostly gathered on Teldrassil, as we were pushed out of our territories on the main continent."

A pause for a bite. "Teldrassil is our world tree - basically it's... well. A giant tree. The branches and foliage are so thick that there is earth and ground on top of it, from where grows other, smaller trees. Darnassus is our capital city. It's..." Really, it was hard to explain. ""I'd say this place is a little similar, but it's also different. Mostly wide open spaces with a few buildings made of living trees."

"That sounds so awesome. I'd totally live in a tree! I've never seen one big enough for even a little house, though." It was hard to imagine that a tree could be so big a city could fit inside it, that other trees would be inside it, and she wanted badly to see it for herself.

"I don't know when I'll get to see it, though. Glyph's awfully busy lately, with the Council and all that stuff." It was so hard to be patient when you were only five! But she tried very hard.

"I need to go back, sometimes. See how things are going. See... If they knew about Illisia." The last words were different, a little more.. bitter, perhaps. "So much things must have changed, since we left..."

In a way, he wasn't sure what actually kept him here - his mother was gone, devoured by the dragon she'd taken on herself - this he had seen with his own eyes - so what was the point ?

And yet... he almost felt like returning without Illisia was like a failure. And almost everyone he'd known had died... It seemed almost like, no matter where he went, he didn't belong.

"...I could take you with me, maybe ?" He mused. "If... Glyph would allow it."

At first, when Elik said that he needed to go back sometime, she was momentarily worried, and looked it - what if he went and didn't come back? And the way he talked about his mom...

Adi was about to get up and hug him when he offered to take her with him, so instead of a nice, light hug, he got a happy glomp from behind instead. "That would be awesome!" Pretty much the awesomest thing ever, actually. Not only would she get to see the night elves, she'd be going on a trip with Elik. "I bet Glyph wouldn't mind. I'll ask him later!"

"You do that. Maybe he'd be able to get us there, too ?" Really, he... wasn't keen at dealing with the dragon in any way, shape, or form. He was content to pretend he didn't exist.

What would happen after that, through, he still was uncertain. He wasn't sure where he did belong - if he even belonged anywhere, anymore. But it was better to ignore that nagging feeling and to focus on Adrienne. "You let me know, alright ?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 11, 2012 12:32 pm

"Probably! Or there's one of Rio's followers, too. He can do stuff like that." Hmm. Elik certainly didn't look as excited about this as she was, which upon further thought, she could understand...but she wanted him to be happy! Or at least less sad.

Oh, right! She'd gotten him something, but which room had she left it in...? "Wait here!" she ordered, rushing off to find it. He would probably be able to hear her rummaging around in the next room, until she dashed back in a few minutes after she'd left. "Here." She held out a small, wrapped present for him to take. "This is for you!"

It was a little glass cat, of only vague resemblance to a night elf cat, but they weren't exactly common subjects of art around here. She'd found the closest thing she could, and it was the thought that counted, right?

"That would probably work..." And then Adi was gone, dashing off an in hurry and leaving a poor, confused night elf alone with his soup.

Blink. Oh dear, hopefully she hadn't thought he had meant right this second with all this...

And yet, when she did finally come back, it only seemed to be even more confusing. Something ? For him ? He accepted the wrapped bundle carefully. then unwrapped it.

And smiled.

"Adi..." Where would he keep it, through ? It wasn't like he had somewhere to keep it safe, but right now... That didn't matter that much, he decided. The little glass cat sat easily in his palm, and no one had bothered being this nice to him in... how long ? "Thank you, Adi."

Adrienne watched intently while Elik unwrapped his present, gaze fixed on his face and expression. She smiled hopefully, but still a bit nervous, when he seemed to approve.

"So you like it?" she asked expectantly, tail waving behind her.

"Of course." How couldn't he ? It was so pretty, and thoughtful. Hoe couldn't he have liked it ? Silly Adi.

"Where did you find it ?" He asked, curious. He hadn't seen something so small and intricate for quite a long time.
