Its a tie.
Oliver Cromwell, I don't knwo what I like about the guy, even thought he was a dictator and basically killed music, and arts, he still helped out England
Napoleon Bonaparte, hink he was a great man, and did quite well for being from Corsica, and not a native frenchmen. I am a big fan of tacticsso he reigns supreme. Basically inventing modern warefare tactics. (Napoleonic warfare)

I don't know why, but recently I have been doing alot of stuff about Hitler on these Gaia threads, seeing posts saying he sucks but the person not giving evidence to their reasoning. Yes he was a bad man but lots of good stuff came from his crusade against the jews

OK. I'm not going to jump in and flame you here, but you need to qualify what good came out of exterminating 6 million innocent people.

Tsar Ivan IV

I'm re-reading some of the books from my Russian history course this past fall, and by far this man is one of the most fascinating men in their history.

yeah, I know you don't know me, but I've got to start somewhere, right? sweatdrop

I've been studying a lot of Russian history lately, too, but mainly in the early 1900's era. So the Romanovs and Rasputin, basically. Welcome to the guild, by the way!

...Not to mention I just finished From the Ashes of Sobibor, and I'm back into that, too... Oskar Schindler and Thomas Toivi Blatt (though I'm pretty sure he's still alive).

Rasputin is the whole reason I've decided to make Russian history a hobby! This past fall, I took Russia to 1890, and this spring, it'll be Soviet Regime. We do individual or group presentations in the class and I already know that I want to work alone and present about Rasputin! I have books to read over intercession and everything. It's going to be so much fun.

I'm such a nerd. Researching, writing papers, and lecturing to my classmates are all so much fun! xd

Leonardo da Vinci. He's my all-time hero. I'm also very interested in A. Conan Doyle.

I particularly enjoy learning about the lives and relationship of Edward II and Isabella of France, especially because history or the media always seems to portray one as the victim and the other as the criminal, when there are many other factors that need to be taken into account . . . for starters, that that were married when she was *12* and he was 18. Though he was rumored to have had a homosexual relationship with his 'favorite,' Piers Gaveston, he lavished attention upon his young wife, giving her presents and the like, after the nobles had Gaveston executed. Yeah . .

At the moment Melvil Dewey. I am studying Library Science, and he was really quite a trip of a guy.

Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine are my personal favorites. Those two have to be like the coolest guys in history, well except for me that is. wink

Eleanor of Aquitaine. Facinating woman, Queen of both France and England, Mother of Kings, and a powerful landholder in her own right.

The muckrakers of the Gilded Age in US History.

I love writing, and they used the power of the pen to expose coporate greed.

And Elizabeth I of England would probably be an all time favorite.

Leon Trotsky. He was a Russian revolutionary who after the death of Lenin lost out in a power struggle with Stalin, was exiled to Mexico, and assassinated via an ice pick to the head.
