AquaPearlvoice I liked it the story was supposed to be the way it was in the manga they did it in Tates point of veiw not Mai's. I know its not like the anime but still its cool give it another chance before jumping to conclusions who knows number 2 might not be that bad remeber its only book 1 we are at right now. Ughhh I dunno, say what you want but the HiME and Otome manga's were.... well, they made me spew! In Otome, they turned Mashiro into a guy and everyone wanted to get in his pants. What the hell.

I read the manga and thought it was okay. The story is different than the anime. However, I believe that the manga was toward the male viewers in Japan. It's very popluar for a guy to be around pretty girls (a.k.a. harem)- same with females with a girl around guys. The anime seems more my favorite than the manga.
Somehow, I had this question on my mind lately. Wasn't the manga made after the anime finished airing in Japan? It's strange, but could be the reason why it's different to the anime.

HiME originally started as an anime, which is odd - since usualy manga is the original source for most animes. Thankfully, this isn't the case for Mai-HiME... because I would split heads if a series like that was spawned from such utter s**t. Kuga lusting over Tate? Shizuru gets her air-time taken away? Evil Mai doing dumbass s**t? And my absolute favourite: Evil Dr. Kuga Natsuki's mom plays the role of a final boss accompanied by her two-headed mangled random nothing makes sense duran- duran insanity. No sir, I don't like it. talk2hand

A lot of times, it's the manga that's better than the anime. However, in this series, it's the other way around...

A lot of the people on here have read past the first book, they ganked it online before it was released here, so they're not just bashing the first book, but farther aheaad. Still though, if you enjoy it, that's cool too. I guess a different perspective has it's rewards. Perhaps it shows Tater's lives in a dreamworld where Kuga wants him. lol

i mean i think it's okay and all but..
NATSUKI WITH TATE?!?! and.. THE WHOLE "KEY" THING?!?! and.. WTF WAS THE WHOLE PLOT?!?! yeah uh..
the thing was just way off from the anime. i like the anime much better. makes you cry, angsty, happy, obsessed about at least one character. yeah. uh. the manga just ruined the whole thing. ahah. 3nodding
