"Mother!" Serenata could not believe it. She'd heard the stories...but never witnessed her father behaving in such a way...
"'Rena, you ok?" 'Lena instantly back at her sister's side glaring at the male who dared tried to separate them.
Aria hesitantly reached out to her lifemate's mind, It's getting worse, isn't it?
Valzar's arms wrapped tighter around Callista, he very much wanted to take her away from all this. He still didn't feel comfortable in large crowds and knew this experience was upsetting for her.

Callista lurched, "Valzar, I cannot stay another second and keep my hands out of blood." She tugged at him to go with her as she disappeared into mist.
Serena circled her wrist with her hoof, trying to soothe the pain there, "I"ll be ok...What's wrong with you Pip?" She didn't even dignify him with an answer and buried her head in Lena's shoulder, holding back tears. "Get me away from this..."
It is. He would make a handsome throw rug, don't you think? Then we could take him out and beat him whenever we please...
Nicholai glared at Serenata's father. There was no doubt in his mind why she was so frightened of him now. Should I ever become that, I wish you to send me to the next life. He wrapped his arms around her in an effort to comfort her.
Lene's eyes were wide, horrified at what she'd just seen. Mandrake reached for her, but she pushed him away, running back into the woods to her special patch of soil.
Mandrake balked, unsure if he should follow her or give her space. His turned to Aria, seeking some wisdom from someone he assumed would know better what to do in this situation, "I...am unsure what to do about Lene...I think I should follow her...but she has never shaken me off before..."

Josette, Luciana, come, this is not a place for you, there was no command to Valzar's voice, only his concern. Some of the old drow instincts still lurked and blended with the newer Carpathian ones made him all the more protective of his adored daughters. Zakiel, Divolin, if there is to be bloodshed, I'd rather see you avoid it. He then quickly took off after his lifemate.
"Divolin? Please, let us go now," Josette spoke softly and nudged at her brother.
Divolin glanced at his sister for a moment before looking back to the scene that played out before them. His dark eyes narrowed upon one who had seemingly been forgotten. Before escorting his sister off he gave one solemn piece of advice to his young cousin. Damien, do not follow his path...
"Yeah," 'Lena answered. "You bet, we're gone..." She faded into the air, taking her twin with her back to her own home.
Gregori, this is serious...I thought you said it was impossible for the males to hurt their lifemates... She shook her head and turned her concerns to the young man standing before her looking so uncertain. "You are her lifemate, what does every fiber of your body command that you do?"
Serenata shook her head, Just don't...don't become that...

Zakiel nodded, herding Luciana away with his larger form. "Come...there is much to discuss at home as well."
Luciana nodded, "Yes...There is joyous news for you as well." She left at his urging, rolling her eyes at him.
Damien nodded, heeding the words of his cousin and friend.
Gregori moved beside Aria, touching his chin to the top of her head. I had believed it to be true, Ma Chere. This is the first I have ever heard or seen of such a thing. And he will pay dearly for this, do not worry about that. "Damien, come to us."
The youth stepped forward, head held high and proud until he looked up at his grandfather. At once he recoiled and hung his head. "Yes Grandfather?"
"Do not pretend to feel shame. Though I know you know that you have committed shameful acts. Your words have pitted your mother against your father, a family against a male. Do you understand? Damien nodded and Gregori continued, "You seek to protect, yet you are destroying. Did you not see your mother's tears? It is our mission and privilege to see that our women never cry. You are partly the cause of those tears, my grandson, and I should hope to never see you cause another tear on a female's face again."
Damien nodded, understanding what he had done, but feeling no shame for it. He knew, as his grandfather had said, that it was a shameful act he had committed, but there was no shame to be found inside of him.
Mandrake nodded in thanks to Aria and quickly trailed after Lene, finding her easily and wrapping his arms around her sobbing form.
She didn't shrug him off, but buried her head deeply in his chest, letting the rhythm of her heart to slow and match his.
I can never become that. There is no way I could ever become that. Nicholai brushed a kiss on her forehead, his arms holding her tightly against him.

I do worry...very much... Aria sighed. I do not like seeing my children unhappy. I can't imagine how my mother so easily turned her back on us...on me. She gasped, Maybe this is my fault, my family....
Serenata rested against him quietly as she watched her grandparents and her brother, What's to become of him, Nicholai? He's so young and already...

This is not your fault, Ma Chere. Never your fault. If you feel the need to blame someone, blame Fate. Do not blame yourself. Would you be opposed to taking young Damien to live with us? He requires instruction in many things, and perhaps we can give him a better understanding of honor and protection.
I do not know...I pray that there is a female on this earth for him.

No, of course not, she said quickly. I would like that very much, actaully, the house has been so quiet and Lucifer's gone so often...
So do I... Serenata sighed.

"Damien, your grandmother and I would like for you to come and live with us. I would like to finish your training."
Damien nodded, "This is a great opportunity, but what of Mother?"
"We will of course ask her, though perhaps at a better time. Until then, I am sure she will not mind if you spend a few risings with us. She and your father have much they need to work out."
"As you wish." He looked to Serenata, the only one of his siblings left. I would like to tell you that I regret the actions that I have made, but I do not feel anything. I hope that you and your lifemate may find some semblance of regret in these words, even though I do not.

Damien nodded, evaporating into mist to scout soil in his new home.
Gregori shook his head, watching Pip on the veranda. I feel an undying urge to watch him writhe in my hooves...
We should be heading to ground soon...

Gregori...think of Serena, Aria reminded him gently.
Serenata blinked up at him, We?

He owes his life to our daughter. If her life were not connected to his, there would be no need for me to tolerate his twisted mind.
I would very much like to take you to ground with me, but it is your choice. Though I would very much like to hold you as the breath leaves my body.

But it is... Aria said softly. And there is nothing we can do to change that.
The normally unshakable Serenata felt herself flush red. This would be taking things a small step further than holding hooves or hugs...or even the slightly wild kisses she was getting addicted to. And he...she...they already had some trouble abiding by what would be considered proper by their people...of course, hers was a non-traditional family...oh, still... She reached out to her sister, Lene, sunrise is approaching. I do not know if it would be wise going to ground at our father's home...

You are correct. I will be calling on our son-in-law again soon. Perhaps with the company of a few other family members who feel as I do. But that is for another rising. The sun approaches and Damien awaits us at our home.
I have no intentions of going to ground, or being near the place our father dwells.

"What does she mean she's not going to ground..." Serenata muttered frowning, And what exactly is it that you plan to do?
