Terra stood protectively over her injured friend, watching in awe and horror as the magic unfolded before her. She was somewhat used to magic, having grown up with a few unicorn friends, but...something of this magnitude was...she couldn't describe it.

((I know, it's not much....but....I'm mainly letting you guys know that Terra is ok...as am I))

“Wh-whatever was I doing?!” The mare kicked at the shards of the armor in front of her. “Why was I wearing this?! It’s so… so tacky” She looked at the ponies assembled in front of her. They were all staring in shock, except for the unconscious one. “Excuse me, but can somepony please tell me what’s going on?”

A small, cream-colored one snapped her mouth shut and glared at her. “
Yer the no-good-witch who’s been terrorizin’ Ponyville, that’s what!

“I beg your pardon. Me? Terrorize? That is the least likely thing I would ever do.”

B-but… but aren’t you a Nightmare?” stammered another.

“Puh-lease.” The mare looked at the pony still frozen in crystyal. “I’m no Nightmare, here I’ll prove how kind I am by saving your little… friend.”

Her horn glowed a brilliant blue, and the pony’s cold, burnt-brown body melted away to reveal orange fur. The pony flopped onto the ground then stood, looking around in confusion.

“There, see? Good. As. New!”

Ugh, short and crummy
His first realization as his eyes fluttered open to be flooded with light was that his wing hurt terribly. He also had the vague sense that he was supposed to be doing something...somewhere. And then he realized...the last he'd known, he and his friends and family had been facing down a literal nightmare. Feather snapped to attention and looked around at the walls of a sterile, white room. He realized now that he was lying on his side in a bed and not standing on the cold hard ground. "Hello? Is...is anypony thare?"

His eyes drifted back to the mass of bandages where his wing should have been. Something that didn't still exist shouldn't hurt so bad, right? Then, turning back to his search, he finally saw a familiar face. "Red Velvet? Are...the others...are they all raight?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2012 1:52 am

Stargazer blinked her large, magenta eyes. She felt exhausted, but in a good way. The same sort of exhaustion you get after a nice workout, or a busy, fulfilling day. She felt so....powerful. All through her life, she had sort of felt like a background pony...she did as she was told, and generally got along with every pony, but she had never really felt special.

She looked down at her chest in surprise; the strange amulet had attached itself around her neck, hugging her like an old friend.

Taking in everything that had just happened, Stargazer felt pretty confused. But the mare had stopped attacking! That was the most important part. And she herself had something to do with it. No, not her, but the thing around her neck... Lamplight was also back to normal! That was a relief. But Feather Tang.... The unicorn winced in sympathy pain as she noted his shattered wing. He would probably never fly again....

"We need to get Feather to the hospital..." Stargazer nodded worriedly at the pegasus. "Once we know he's ok, we can figure out what is going on!"

"Errr...Honey Gold?" she was pretty sure that was the other pegasus's name "can you help carry him?" The unicorn concentrated the magic she had left in her horn, aiming it at the injured pegasus. She could cast a simple healing and protective spell. It was nothing compared to what the hospital could do, but it would hold him over.

Sugar Craze

Sugar Craze had watched the whole fight and subsequent blast of pure Elemental magic in terror. The magic made her skin itch terribly, and she was glad when the light faded and the Nightmare reduced to a regular old pony. Stargazer requested Honey Gold’s help getting Feather Tang to the hospital and Sugar Craze, feeling guilty she had been helpless in the face of such danger, moved forward.

“I… I can get him there… He’s a bit too heavy for Honey Gold to carry, after all…” She used her front legs to lift the pegasus off the ground and onto her back; straining slightly under his weight. “P-piece of cake… I’ll have him there in a jiffy…” She turned and found herself face-to-face with the white unicorn mare, who was staring at her with an expression she recognized too well.

Rarity blinked at the dracconequis then gasped. “Sugar Craze, wasn’t it? It took me a minute to recognize you! You’ve… grown some.”

The younger girl seemed surprised by her lack of horror and nodded meekly, moving past her towards the hospital. Rarity turned to look at the others gathered around.

“Little Stargazer and Corn Silk and… oh, whoever you are.” She nodded to the green pegasus and lilac unicorn, both who looked slightly familiar, though she couldn’t place them. How long had she been gone and…

With a start, she remembered what had been happening all the years she was gone. “Listen, I hate to cut all this short but we really must be getting ready. Applejack or Fluttershy… Rot or Savage, as they call themselves… will be here any day now and I don’t think you’re quite prepared to deal with them. Are there any adults who can protect everypony? Not that you aren’t adults it’s just that such little ponies shouldn’t have to deal with such big problems.”

“Here, Sugar, let me help ya with that!” Without asking or hesitating, Red Velvet rushed over to help his friend with the wingless Feather Tang. He shouldered up under the pegasus, taking his full weight on his own back.

“I'll go ahead and take Feather to the hospital. It'll be a lot faster if I do it...” He looked at the scrawny Stargazer, the gentle Honey Gold, and, lastly, Sugar Craze. She was neither scrawny nor weak, but she wasn't exactly built for manual labor. “No offense.” It would have to be him if they were going to get anywhere. His muscles were well equipped from carrying heavy loads of flour and towering cake stands, and his sports at Manebridge had given him fast legs.

“We should really listen to Miss...uh...” Red Velv combed his brain. The dragon had yelled her name. “Miss Charity? But yeah. If there are others like her coming....we need to be ready.”

Making sure Feather was stable, he trotted off as quickly as he dared.

It's a bird!

It's a plane!

Actually no! It's much better than both of those things combined!

Something was whooshing through the clouds above; a barely visible orange streak trailing orchid purple. It was like a tropical comet.

“LOOOOOOOKKKKK OUUUUTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!”

Her scooter was a ...little... out of control. The pegasus atop the flying vehicle held on for dear life, her goggles flapping wildly around her ears. Sure, she was USUALLY awesome at scooting, and yeah, after like A BAJILLION MILLION YEARS she had finally figured out it was her special talent, but today was different. This was an emergency, and she had thrown all caution to the wind. Literally.

“MAYDAY! MAYDAYY!!!”

She only hoped that the ponies below would move out of the way as her scooter crashed to the ground.

Luckily, her wings held her a few feet from the earth, so she herself was unscathed.

The pegasus lifted her helmet off her head, revealing a spiky purple mane. She was bright orange, and was wearing something sparkly around her neck.

Ignoring the other ponies, not to mention the giant dragon, she turned to the smallest of the bunch.

“Hey! Sorry about that.” She glanced over at her maimed scooter. “You're Corn Silk, right? Applejack's kid? My name is Scoot-a-loo. Yes, THE Scoot-a-loo. Shredder extraordinaire? Perhaps you've heard of me?” She paused, allowing all the ponies a second to gasp in admiration, or perhaps to clap.

“Anyway. I got something for you! It's totally rad.” She pulled the bejeweled necklace from over her head.

“I've been holdin' on to this baby for a couple years. It's my most prized possession..” Memories of the pegasus she had admired the most came to Scoot-a-loo's head. Rainbow Dash had given it to her 6 years ago and told her to hold on to it.

-

It'll be safest with you. I have a really bad feeling something terrible is going to happen to me. Pinkie's been shaking around for days. Whatever it is, it's gonna be a doozie.

“Are you gonna be ok?” Scoot-a-loo was worried.

I dunno. The usually confident pegasus faltered. On top of the Pinkie Sense, the six of us have all been having really weird dreams lately.... But whatever happens, we need to keep the element safe. And I trust you as much as the five of them. You've always been loyal to me and one of my biggest supporters and friends, so it seems appropr...OUCH! Rainbow Dash keeled over, belly swollen. I swear if this little dude doesn't stop kicking me, we're gonna have a serious problem. She laughed

“H...how long do I keep it?” Scoot-a-loo was trying not to freak out, but RD was scaring her.

You'll know when you need to use it. I'm sorry, but I don't have much time to explain. I have to go now. I have a doctor's appointment. Little Feather here is due any day now.

“O..okay. I promise I'll guard it with my life.”
Scoot-a-loo stood there in shock, clutching the beautiful necklace as Rainbow Dash took off, slowed only slightly by her pregnant belly.

She didn't know then that it was the last time she would see her.

“After derby practice in Cloudsdale tonight, I noticed something had changed. The necklace used to look like RD's cutie mark-- a lighting rainbow, y'know? But when I looked at it today...well, it's just like yours! Then I noticed the fire down here and, well, it seemed like the right time.” Scoot-a-loo held out the Element for Corn Silk; the lightning bolt had morphed into an ear of corn with a shiny crown around it.

“I know RD and your mom were practically sisters, so it makes sense that it would go to you. Corn Silk, you represent the element of loyalty. You never go back on your promises, and you are always the first to defend the ones you love. Use the Element wisely—it chose you. It will bestow you with amazing powers you've never had before. Try to find your mother...and the rest. I miss them all so much.”

“A-HEM!”

Scoot-a-loo spun around to see who had made the noise.

“RARITY!!!!!!!!!!!” The pegasus launched herself at the older unicorn, tackling her to the ground. All formal, wisdom-y persona had been dropped. “OHMYGOSHIMISSEDYOU SO MUCHHH!!! SWEETIEBELLEHASBEENWORRIEDSICK!!! THANKGOODNESS YOU'RE BACK! WE HAVE TO GO SEE SWEETIEBELLRIGHTNOWW COME ON!”

She nearly dragged her old friend off to Carousel Boutique, until Rarity demanded that she did have legs. Then she let her walk. Spike followed them, not wanting to miss any moment with his long lost love.

“If you need anything—advice, hints, anything-- come to the Carousel Boutique. Err. I actually think it's called Carousel Karaoke now. You know where it is. The elements have chosen different masters, it seems. They will guide you.”

And just like that, the three old friends were gone, leaving the remaining new ponies together to save Ponyville.

Corn Silk

Corn Silk looked at the pendant the pegasus had given her in mild disgust. It was just so gaudy… not something she’d normally wear. Sure, she had her headband, but it was practical as well as pretty. Still, if it was magic, it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to try to sell it or throw it away.

Flipping it up into the air, she slipped her head up into the loop and shook it into place. It wasn’t as heavy as it looked, and it was pleasantly warm against her fur.

“Well, Ah reckon we’re on our own… we better figure out where the rest of these element things are a’fore the other Nightmare things git here.” Something about the element’s shape niggled at her memory. Where ha she seen this…?

In a flash it came to her. “Ah think there’s another one o’ these at Sweet Apple Acres! It looks like an apple… Aunt Applebloom showed it t’me when I was li…” She looked at the other ponies. Stargazer, Honey Gold, Lamp Light… “Where’s Sugar Craze?”

Sugar Craze

After Red Velvet had taken Feather Tang off her back to the hospital, Sugar Craze had taken advantage of the incredibly long and distracting Scootaloo post to slip away, unseen, back to Sugar Cube Corner. Dragons, elements, Nightmares... It was all too much for her. Corn Silk was always itching for excitement, but she preferred the relative peace of her home, away from crazy mares who tried to crystallize you and the jeers or grimaces of other ponies. And this wasn't just going to entail getting attention, it meant being in real danger! She was better off staying here, like always, and hiding. If a big, string pony like Feather coukdnt stop a Nightmare, a weak draconeqquis like herself had no chance.

Red Velv was still with Feather, so the building was rather quiet. Sugar Craze was on edge, expecting a terrible dragon to pop out of nowhere. She started up the steps slowly, but all seemed clear, and  the rest of the Cakes were out...

Pop!

The crack of a gum bubble popping behind her made her jump. She looked over her shoulder and grinned a bit sheepishly. Pumpkin Cake was standing at the foot of the steps, chewing on gum like always. "Sugar Craze! Thank Celestia you're ok! We didn't know you'd left, since you almost never do, and Ma and Pops were worried you and Red Velv had been caught in the explosion!"

"We... We're fine... Feather Tang was hurt so Red Velvet took him to the hospital..." Sugar Craze hoped she wouldn't pry more, but her adoptive sister climbed up the steps to be equal with her.

"Feather got hurt? That's awful! He gonna be alright?" She was chomping the gum agitatedly, like she always did when nervous and hiding something.

"His wing... It was pretty messed up but I didn't get a good look so..."

Pumpkin held up a hoof. "You don't have to tell me, Sugar. I think I know what happened... One of them came back, didn't they?"

"Th-them who?" Sugar Craze squeaked. Pumpkin frowned sadly.

"The original wielders of the Elements of Harmony... Ms. Pinkie's... Your mom's friends." She walked to the top of the steps and gestured for the draconeqquis to follow.

"There's something I shoulda showed you a while ago, Sugar Craze..."

~~~~~
"Alrighty then Pumpkin Cake! Are you ready for your super-dooper-allie-opper-double-scooper-with-sprinkles surprise?" The pink mare enthusiastically offered the orange filly a gift box wrapped in colorful paper and tied up with a bow.
Pumpkin Cake opened it up, chewing happily on the gum Pinkie had started making to keep her from chewing everything else. "Whu is it, Miz Pinkie Pie?" She looked at the necklace in awe. It had a bright blue gem shaped like a balloon in the middle, the same color as her eyes.
"This here is an Element of Harmony! It's a super fun magical doodad that can beat evil, boom!, and shoot lasers like pew pew pew and make huge rainbows that make this tornado to defeat darkness and chaos and it looks like candy but it doesn't taste like it but that's ok because is totally AWESOME!" She had jumped up into the air then paused, seeing the filly's confused look. "It's a special necklace." She landed in front of Pumpkin. "Aaaaand, I want you to have it, Pumpkin Cake!"
Pumpkin smiled and tried to magic it on, but it wouldn't slide over her horn. The pendant covered one of her eyes. "Look, Miz Pinkie Pie, I'm a pirate!"
Pinkie frowned. "Do NOT be silly, Pumpkin Cake. You are not a pirate..." She grinned. "...Without a parrot! Hold on, I know just the somebody to ask for one. Be right back!" She rushed out, almost bowling over a small red colt who had come in to see what the two were playing. Pumpkin took off the Element quickly and magically hid it on a top shelf, out of reach. Miz Pinkie had given it to her, and she didn't want her annoying baby brother to mess it up...
~~~~~~~~~~

Pumpkin levitated the old flour bin she stored her treasures in down off the top shelf. She opened it and pulled out a necklace, showing it to Sugar Craze. "Your ma... She gave me this when I was just a filly. I guess she thought no one would think to look for an incredibly important artifact like the Element of Laughter with a little foal... Up until today, it was a blue balloon, but this morning..."

The necklace was more streamlined then the one Scootaloo had given Corn Silk or that Stargazer found, more masculine. The gem was now a warm caramel-orange, and shaped like a slice of cake... The exact same shape as Red Velvet's cutie mark.

"I know Red Velvet loves to make ponies smile, just like Miz... Your ma did. She always knew how to make Pound and me laugh as foals, and Red Velvet always knew how to cheer you up when you were blue."

Pumpkin floated the Element to Sugar Craze. "I don't know what's going on exactly, with the explosion and all that, but I think it's connected somehow to this... Can you take this Element to Red Velvet?"

Sugar Craze wanted to say no. She wanted to hole up in her room and never ever leave the house ever again. She wanted to ask why Pumpkin had never shown her this before... Why her mother had left a valuable Element with the unicorn instead of her, her own daughter.

"I... Ok..."

((OOC: Sorry for random hijack; Harxlily knew Sugar was going to get the Element for RV. Write this on my phone so sorry for bad spelling and stuff.

And the gum was just... Headcanon. Sowwy I didn't ask anypony's permission. Since she was always chewing on stuff in the episode I wanted it to reflect somehow... Pound totally uses his Pound Smash to like, beat dough or something wink ))

Doctor Remedy looked at the X-rays, sighing. Nurse Heartfelt and Nurse Phoenix Down had done everything they could for the poor pegasus: cauterizing the wound so he wouldn't bleed out, and wrapping a huge bandage around the pony's body.

This was one of the most serious, tragic cases Dr. Remedy had ever seen. Sure, clumsy pegasi broke their wings all the time: that was an easy fix. She had even managed to reattach a few...but a completely severed, destroyed wing? He'd be grounded for life. She pushed her silver-framed glasses up her nose before entering the hospital room. Mustering all her strength, Dr. Remedy closed her eyes and aimed a super-powerful healing spell at Feather Tang. He became washed in blue light as the magic coursed through her horn. It would keep him from feeling any pain for a week. It was her most powerful, draining spell, and she reserved it for severe patients only.

“I have bad news,” she began as the spell did its magic. She always hated this part. “Your wing...it's gone. You'll never fly again. …. I am so sorry. We did everything we could.”

Dr. Remedy was unlike most of her kind. She cared about each and every pony in Equestria, and it broke her heart when they were hurt. She was not cold or clinical, but warm and gentle. But, she had been called to her profession. To heal the sick, and help those in need. The schooling had been grueling, but she was blessed with a gift. She was one of the most powerful healers in Equestria, and Ponyville needed her.

“I'm sorry.” She stood in the door of the room to see if the red pony or Feather Tang had any questions.

Nurse Phoenix Down, huh? I see what you did thar. (;
Feather Tang was awaiting Red Velvet's answer when the door opened. In stepped a doctorly-looking mare. He carefully sat up to see what she had to say.
Suddenly, a blue mist of magic washed over him; its comfortable coolness taking away all his pain and soreness. It felt quite nice, actually. It almost overshadowed her words. Really it shouldn't have been such a big deal. He had never really had the ability to fly beyond momentary gliding. Yet it still hurt at heart. Solving the mystery of flight was one of his lifetime goals. The idea that he would likely never get the chance to even try again- well, it wasn't something any pegasus wanted to hear. Yet, he supposed it could have been so much worse.

He tried to keep the disappointment out of his voice as he spoke to her. "Ah understand, ma'am. Thank you for yer efforts" He bowed his head for a moment to emphasize his gratitude. "Ah think ah'll be all raight." He figured that all that was left to do was to go home, check on everypony, and see what he could do to help clean up.

Yeah...this is all I've got for now. I may or may not come back and add to it. Anyone can PP him if they find it necessary. =3

Rot swerved through the trees casually tail swishing out to touch the trunks she passed. Each began to wither and decay at her touch. Rot grinned indolently. She didn't like that snot Dusk, but she sure as sugar enjoyed the spell she'd cast on her. These trees were only taking up space, and feeding ungrateful ponies from Fillydelphia to as far as Canterlot.

Canterlot. Now THAT had been fun. The gala, the raid, the fight... Now all that was left in that castle were four statues of three alicorn princes and a captain of the guard turned prince. She really thought Dusk had been a bit soft on them, but it hardly mattered. The royal family couldn't challenge them now.

Except they had forgotten one royal, one who hadn't lived in Canterlot for years. True, the likelihood of the unicorn prince attempting to rise against them was slim, and even if he did his power was far inferior to Dusk's. But Rot was not one to take chances; she would take care of the last member of the royal house once and for all with her own hooves.

She reached the top of the hill and kicked open the door to the farmhouse. It niggled at her memory, but she was too close to her quarry to let such thoughts distract her. She walked into the kitchen, and there he was.

He was considerably changed in the past six years since his wife had left. He'd had to work harder than he ever had in his life, taking on her share of the work, supporting his brother-in-law through the successive losses of his wife then sister, and raising the foals on the farm almost single-hoofedly. A streak of grey split his brown mane, and he was trying to use magic to cook dinner and set the table at the same time.

"Wow that smells real nice."

He jumped, dropping all the dishes with a clatter, and turned to look at her. "A-applejack?! You're back?!"

Rot rolled her eyes. "Ah ain't never heard of no Applejack."

"But... But you... Where have you been? Are you harmed? I was so worried and... Corn Silk! She'll be so excited to finally meet you!"

"We done met and... Ah don't think she was all that excited."

Blueblood frowned. "What do you mean by that...?"

Rot swished her tail against the leg of the table and it rotted away, making the whole table collapse. "Ah think ya better worry more about you; it's a little late t'be worryin' over her."

The stallion's frown became furious. "I don't believe that. The Applejack I know would never harm a pony, much less her daughter."

"Y' don't get it, do ya?" Rot stepped towards him menacingly. "Ah ain't the Applejack ya know." Blueblood backed up, horn glowing. "Wanna know th' best part? Th' whole time, she was cryin' for ya to come save her. 'Daddy, daddy!' And ya didn't come."

"You... you are lying..."

"Me? Lie? Ah did no such thing."

((I am totally not attempting to push the plot along faster -liarjack-))
