Night Kunoichi From what I remember of my early Naruto fanfic writing days, it was more of a way to express that I had knowledge of some Japanese words. Immature, really, but I grew out of it. :/ To be honest, I still want to do it sometimes. When I think of the plot but I feel like it ruins the speech because it's like, "Should they already be talking in Japanese? Why talk in Japanese?"
It doesn't make sense, you know? lol.

Quote: That makes sense. Not some crap where a Japanese person living in a Japanese-speaking area says random Japanese words in a story that is written in English. Bahaha I so agree with you.

Amarathiine what strikes me though is most people still read it like that ...maybe some people like it Or it's easy for them to overlook it. For me, however, it's really annoying because it isn't consistent with the rest of the story and I find myself fixating on those random Japanese phrases and wondering "Why?" rofl

My latest annoyance is when a single pairing seems to dominate the archives, making it difficult to impossible to find fics for any other pairing.

Renkon Root My latest annoyance is when a single pairing seems to dominate the archives, making it difficult to impossible to find fics for any other pairing. Whenever I have that problem, I just write my own or check other sites. Chances are that if you are looking for a certain pairing, someone out there has already written it. Edit: And I feel that I must add that sometimes I find that some fandoms are dominated by fics purely containing canon pairings. But sometimes, to me, some of those canon pairings just suck. Yes, I'm a college girl and I should have a vocabulary that is far more expanded and should contain loads of adjectives to describe certain canon pairings, but no. Simply put, some canon pairings suck but people write them because they actually like them or because they know that it's a popular pairing ( because it's canon) and a story containing such a pairing will garner more faves/views/reviews/etc. In those instances, I just write my own fics with whatever "bizarre" pairing that I want or I check other sites.

Don't even get me started on terrible canon pairings. I'm a veteran DC fan (comics and cartoons) and since the Young Justice cartoon was made, there has been an influx of Superboy/Miss Martian fics. They were never a canon pairing in the comics and neither of the had ever appeared in the cartoons before then. Then CN made Young Justice and Kon-El and M'gann M'orzz finally got animated. And in their first animated appearance they are paired off together and spend an entire season sucking face. This annoys me for two reasons: 1.) this being their first animated incarnations, people who do not read the comics will forever see them as a 'true pair' and not accept any other possible partners for them, and 2.) the only real basis for their relationship in the series was that they were both aliens and the ONLY aliens on the Team (that, and M'gann was trying to emulate her TV idol, but that's unnecessarily complicated and not very relevant). Finally, in season two they were broken up (mostly because M'gann is an abusive b***h). Yet people still ship them and refuse to believe that the relationship is over or that they just don't and won't work together as a couple. Ever! /endrant On the flip side, I have also been in fandoms with some pretty interesting canon pairs that fans completely ignore because they'd rather ship any and every 'crack pair' they can come up with -some of which are just down right creepy. A variation of this would also be where only the canon het pairs are ignored in favor of slashing every single character with another character of the same gender. Basically, no matter what side of the fence you're on, its annoying when done in excess. A good fandom archive has a decent balance between both canon and non-canon ships.

Oh, I can go off on a long rant about pairing imbalances in fandoms. Unfortunately the fandoms I'm in usually have the same pairings done to death; both canon and 'crack' pairs. I generally don't have a problem with the pairings themselves, it just starts to become boring when I read the same romance pairing that ultimately follows the same guidelines for that romance to the point that the ending of nearly all of the fics (by different authors) is predictable. However, it's a recipe for success since the majority in that fandom love the pairings. I haven't been in a fandom yet where canon pairs are totally ignored.
