I am totally psyched, I just got C/Major, and right in time too. Tomorrow (well actually today now, since its 1 am) I leave for Washington D.C. for National CAC and Winter Boards. I am nervous as all get out, but super excited as well.
On another note, our Wing is trying a new type of meeting out on my squadron and the few that are around us. We are meeting once a month all day saturday, plus one tuesday a month for testing and pt. I am the Cadet Commander for this new unit and activity. Its a blast but its so stressful as well because it has never been done. It gives us extra time for more fun classes... that just means I have to think up more classes (so if you have any ideas shot them my way please).
Lol anyways, how is CAP going for all the rest of you guys?

I know it took me a while to get started going up the ranks. Some people fly through them and some don't. I have been in for just over 5 and a half years and I am just getting major. Some people have Colonel in less time than that. When I was in high school I was super busy outside CAP as well. What all stuff are you doing outside of CAP? Also, how are your weekly (I am assuming there) meetings going?

(Lets be clear though I hate it, but Eagle Scouts make SO much more money than non-scouts. sweatdrop ) I go to school tutorials for this and that, but I usually wont go to meetings only because I'm sick, or there is nothing for me to accomplish that night and-Im-feeling-tired-anyway. Our weekly meetings are pretty tight. We dont get much flight time though. Our presentations are usually rushed and only few are actually good. confused

That in and of itself is essential to a good unit, at least in my opinion. I can understand why you are in boyscouts too. My older brother is an eagle scout. CAP is an awesome organization, but more people know about boyscouts. The Spaatz award is harder to get than the Eagle, but it is so unknown that it doesn't look any better on a resume. I think it will be beneficial to you to be in both organizations, they both have so much to teach that is of value in life. Good luck to you.

Thats the worst part about turning 18, even if you stay a cadet you don't get anymore O-flights. You have to wait until you are a Senior Member (or 21 for the cadets thats switch early) before you get to go up in CAP aircraft again. Hence me not having been able to go flying in several years crying . Make sure you ask the Pilot to teach you dutch rolls (though he may not know that they are). They are the funnest thing to do xd .

And what would those be? Dutch rolls are kinda like a barrel roll except you don't go all the way around (since that would kill you in a Cessna after all). The challenge is to keep your nose steady while alternately lifting one wing and the other. You don't bring your wings way up but you can still get some good movement out of them. It takes a precise combination of wheel and rudders to keep the nose from moving.
