Mayumi hears Phoebus' words she wants to deny her own budding feelings for him. She still can't understand how she can feel this way with Phoebus so soon.
Phoebus who usually is more a dragon of action than words decides mayhaps actions speaks louder than words. "Lass mayhaps ye should feel at times rather than think." He gets closer to Mai'mi and gives her an exploratory kiss.Feeling no resistance he deepens the kiss.

Mayumi finds herself once again in Phoebus' embrace and more than enjoying it. She continues kissing Phoebus.
Phoebus reluctantly draws away from the kiss and looks into her blue eyes which normally was so like lake on a clear day which now had darkened to a more deeper shade of Turquoise . "Lass if I continue I can nae stop. I dinae want to stop as it is. But I want ye the be sure the next time that we do ye ken lass." He gets up and walks towards the bathing room. "I think I need me self a cold bath. Good night lass."

Mayumi left by herself finishes the claw covers for Connor. She thinks on what she and Phoebus discussed. Could her feelings for Pepper not have been strong enough. Was it more of adoration than love.
She decides that no she did love Pepper but maybe she's learning to love Phoebus as well. It's hard to discount Phoebus' good traits, he had some bad traits too but not that many. He did have a point that being able to talk was a good basis for a relationship.

Phoebus sits in the tub contemplating. He misses his spring at his own lair more room to stretch out and it ws naturally warm. Stray thoughts of spending time with Mayumi in his underground spring enter his head. He pours some water over his head to clear his thoughts.
He thinks how come he hae to fall for a lass that dinnae trully want him. He dinnae mind as long as she gives him a chance. He dinnae remember much but he do ken that there's more between them than just lust.
Lust he couldae hae with Celeste yet he dinae want it in the end. He ken that Mai'mi lass does feel something when with him she nae adverse to his attentions but she still longs for her damn Pepper. He thinks he could kill Pepper for causing the lass pain. Why did he dally with the lass only to leave her, 'tis nae right. Mai'mi was nae the type of lass that was out for a one time frolic 'twas obvious she was looking for more. Why did Pepper hae to take what she offered and leave. He pours another bucket on top of his head to calm him down.
The water was starting to cool mayhaps he should get out.

Phoebus comes out of the tub and find Mayumis still sitting at the table. He hesitates to go and talk to her so he continues on towards the outer room and his makeshift bed.

As he passes her Mayumi speaks up and holds an arm out to stop him. "Phoebus wait. We need to talk and I wanted to say something before I change my mind or loose my nerve."
Phoebus stops mid stride. He turns to Mai'mi lass and sits on the edge of the bench next to her. "What is it ye hae to say to me lass?"
"Phoebus I thought about what you said about Pepper and me. No I did love Pepper it was more than just liking." She pauses "However I do think you're right that there is something more between us. I'd be lying if said there wasn't. "
Phoebus first feels like someone stabbed his heart when he hears Mai'mi declare her love for Pepper. Then he hears her say that she does hae feelings for him. He is elated at even that crumb of affection mayhaps it could grow into more. "Mai'mi does that mean ye would gie me a chance? I would love to try to be a good mate for ye. I already feel that ye Connor and I are a family I dinnae want to loose that."

Mayumi who was absently biting on her thumb. Was thinking of what to say. When Phoebus grabs her hand and hlods it in his He looked at her with longing in his eyes. Mayumi's heart melts at his plea. "Yes I've decided that it may not be a bad idea to be mates. I'll love Pepper maybe some part of my heart always will but you've found a new place it my heart and perhaps it time it would grow and I'm willing to give us a chance if that's what you want."
An overjoyed Phoebus lifts up Mayumi by the waist as if she weighed no more than a feather and twirls her around. "Ye'll nae regret it lass. I'll try to make ye really happy." He feels more happy than he had in a long time.

Phoebus puts Mai'mi down. "So lass do ye really want to be handfasted to me?" He'd prefer nae a handfast but he figures he nae want Mai'mi unhappy or trapped should her Pepper return. He trully hopes that the dratted dragon nae e'er return or at least returns after he's sure Mai'mi prefers him.
Having never heard of the term Mayumi asks, "What's a handfast Phoebus?"
"Where I was from A handfast is kindae like a betrothal but more. I dinae wish to rush ye into mates for life commitment 'cause I ken yer nae over yer Pepper yet. A handfast lasts for a year and a day. The couple pledges their intent to live together as mates for the time. At the end of the handfast both sides decide whether they want to stay together or be end the relationship." Phoebus reluctantly adds. "And should ye wish it can end anytime before the year and a day." He refrains from saying that he hopes it will last. He dinae want to pressure her.

Mayumi thinks on what Phoebus said it sounds like a trial mating. She supposes in their situation it may be best. She doescare about Phoebus but she did notice he was a bit of a flirt.
Maybe he also wants to option to change his mind. What if he meets a more striking female. She still is unsure what Phoebus sees in her though their chemistry is undeniable.
"Yes Phoebus I agree to your handfast arrangement."

Phoebus draws Mai'mi lass closer to him and strokes her soft silken hair whilst her head is on his shoulder. He just holds her there for awhile enjoying the moment.

Mayumi feeling the need to reassure herself and Phoebus lifts her head up to kiss Phoebus.
Phoebus draws her closer savoring the taste of her lips. He dinae ken what it is about this lass that hae him captivated so. He smells the faint scent of chocolate on the lass and berries. He thinks for now she's his lass and deepens the kiss more. The thought that he does nae hae to stop enflames him. They mutually shower each other with tiny kisses. When he couldnae stand it any more he carries his lass to the bedroom.

Phoebus watches Mayumi's even breathing as she sleeps. Meeting the lass has changed his life he reflects. He strokes her long hair as he thinks that he dinae ken why but he thinks that another time or place he wouldnae hae given a lass such as Mai'mi a chance. Why does he ken that he dinae much thought past one night with any lass.
Hmm he thinks it's mayhaps nothing 'tis only natural for a dragon who nae hae a mate prior to think such thoughts.
He tucks a stray lock of hair behind the lass' ear and kisses her cheek. He cuddles her and decides to sleep.

Phoebus tosses restlessly in his sleep battling untold demons in his subconscious. He starts to murmur unintelligible words and suddenly screams a heart wrenching. "Nae"
His scream instantly wakens Mayumi who notices his uneasy sleep and that he is still not fully conscious. Mayumi tries to waken him from his obvious nightmare. He finally opens his eyes and takes a moment to focus. "Phoebus you were having a nightmare I'm sorry to wake you but you seem like you needed to be woken."
Phoebus takes a few momments to recollect himself and sobs, " I couldnae save them, I coundnae save them, lass I tried."
Mayumi holds the anguished Phoebus close and asks him as she comfortingly strokes his back and wings. "Who could you yo not save Phoebus?"
"I can nae remember lass, I cannae remember just ken I couldne save them. I should hae been able to I was the strongest yet I still could nae save them."

Mayumi could somehow understands his sorrow and helplessness. "It's alright Phoebus I'm sure you tried. You can't blame yourself for not being able to stop something. You just can't the best we can do is try. " The way she says these words one is not sure if she's convincing herself or Phoebus.
Phoebus holds on to Mayumi tighter not wanting to let go he doesnae want to lose her either. He couldnae bear it he ken if he were to loose Mai'mi and Connor. In such short time a time the two hae filed an emptiness in his heart. He realizes then that he does trully love the lass and the lad. He nae e'er want any harm to come to them.

Mayumi sensing that Phoebus needs more reassurance lifts her head and places her claws on Phoebus' face and lifts it to look at her. "Phoebus I'm here I'm not leaving and I'm here for you if you need me." Her bright blue eyes reflecting the depth of emotions she feels for Phoebus but is yet unable to tell him.
