Yeah, I've been using Shinx and Starly. However, I started with Chimchar so rocktype = ouch. I managed to push my way through that gym with a Geodude and Rock Smash though, so it's all good. I didn't want to try to piggyback an Abra to evolve. sweatdrop And that probably wouldn't have worked as well anyhow.
But yeah I just beat the first gym. I wasted a lot of time grinding levels to beat the gym. Maybe I'll be somewhat on a roll now, haha.

I think you'll be running into a lot of grass and normal types now, so you should be good until the next gym.

Wolffy000 Palkia is pissing me off. If it's attacks aren't ungodly strong for the level I'm at (******** you, Special Rend) then I'm accidentally killing it with my overpowered attacks. Fly + Critical = 1H KO Edit: Palkia Get Kilana, get a Shinx and a Starly. They've pretty much carried me through the game, and are two of the first ones you run into. Super special ultra time! I captured Dialga as well after 3 dusk balls and 7 ultra balls! Now I can save the master ball for Giratina! Once I open up the national dex, I'm gonna work on a new electric type like maybe magnemite. The thing about most Shinx (most I say) is that their most default stats as I see it puts them in the classic all-offense/weak defense category, and I don't think most come with a particularly good speed (mine doesn't) so what's the point of high attack and low defense when you can't take a hit? D: At least my Alakazam is mad fast. AND he knows reflect. As for a flying type, Murkrow -> Honchkrow FTW BTW Wolfy, I'm berry farming too. I usually buy packs of growth and damp mulch. I'm working towards getting the cape that costs 250 nomel berries eek Ever grow a spelon? I don't know if it's normal, but I got 15 berries off one spelon plant eek

I don't use much mulch since I plant berries at various times. It keeps me coming back so I can water them when I need to. I haven't gotten any spelon yet, but the most I've gotten off of one plant so far has been 10. I usually get about 5; 2 if I plant it in a place where I don't often go.
My Shinx had pretty decent speed, he almost always attacks first except against some of the high AGI types. The defense is weak, but he usually 1H KOs most of his enemies.
I like the Staraptor because of the high attack. When you're killing everything in one hit, you don't really need to worry about defense. I can get steel and rock types to take hits if I need to. Not my favorite flying type, but with Close Combat and Aerial Ace it pretty much eats all of the contenders later in the game.
Mespirit pissed me off too much, that is the worst part of the game. Victory road always sucks, but not nearly as much so as that one pokemon did.

Yay, I just got my second badge. I am excited.
I'm liking this so far. I'm glad I didn't bother torturing myself with restarting FireRed otherwise I might not be enjoying this so far. ;O
Still don't quite know what I'm doing though, but it all seems to be entertaining.

There are a lot of things they really don't explain. Hell, I'm at the Elite 4 and am still figuring certain things out.
Trading online sucks. Sucks hard, everyone makes stupid offers and trying to filter them out is a b***h. For some reason the closer I get to the end of the game/post game stuff the more it's pissing me off. A lot of things are really done well, but I think I would be happier if some of these things were either changed or not put in at all. It took me forever to find a few common ones that weren't trading for Palkia or other legendaries. Protip: a level 11 skunk from the beginning of the game isn't worth a level 100 legendary. It just pisses me off that there isn't any decent way to filter it.
There is a lot more I wish they would do with the online stuff too. It seems like most all of it is built for the local connection, not wi-fi. For all the stuff I want to do, there is no wi-fi version.

Meh, now I'm disappointed about the WiFi thing. I was gonna hook my router up but the way me and my roommate's computers are setup I'll have to put the router in her room. I wouldn't have to if the ethernet on my computer worked, but alas, it doesn't. But still, it should be okay in her room too. 700 ft range apparently. xp
I still look forward to battling people online though, even though it'll be a long time before I catch up to anyone and it'll be a while before I actually um, get acquainted with the new Pokemon and such.

Battling people looks to be the best use for it so far.
Trading can be alright, but the system they use is screwed up. At the most you get 6 results (Out of god knows how many) and usually those first 6 are the dumbest offers that have been there forever.
Being on the offering end is nice. I traded a Haunter for a Kadabra with no problems. I'd suggest leveling up anything you want to offer 10 levels above the general capture levels, just so people can find them more easily though. But just trading version exclusives for version exclusives is more annoying than it should be, since it's so flooded with crap offers that no one is going to take.
And you can't look for/trade for pokemon you haven't seen. So, say I want to trade Palkia for Dialga? Nope, not until I see it. I have Palkia, but I can't "see" Dialga until after I beat the game. It's just so retarded it's frustrating.
And even though I want to make poffins or go in the explorer's cave online, I can't. It's local only. And those are really what I'd rather do with other people.

yeah, that part sucks. You can't make really unique poffins unless you get together with local wireless and you can't upgrade your secret base unless you steal some flags from oher people.
Right now however, I'm farming some gems to get over lvl 40 so I can get perhaps, a red bike rack, oh dare I say, holy s**t, a pokecenter healing machine?

Speaking of which, I just got another armor fossil. Do any of you want a Shieldon?
Edit: Got 2 now. I love digging.
Double Edit: 3 now. Damn.

It's one of the 2 fossil pokemon for this game. Diamond gets Cranidos (or whatever the names are), and Pearl gets Shieldon.

Ahhhh. I get it. ;O
I must level, but I also must get food. DILEMMA!
I'm having trouble leveling one member of my team. I dunno, it's weird, I use all the others fairly often but it seems one always gets the shaft. Doesn't matter what that one is.

I think you'll be getting an EXP share soon. It was like that for me too. Now I'm down to only really using 2 members regularly. 2 HM slaves, and 2 I'm trying to level.
Edit: What the hell? I am finding a ton of these fossils.

Ah, do you get exp share much earlier than in FireRed and stuff? Because I am only just done with the second gym. xd
But I'm trying to keep a slight balance but now it's even harder because nobody I want to use can learn cut (or that I want to actually know cut), so I have to carry around a useless spare for cutting purpose. At least I taught Geodude rock smash and Geodude is actually fairly useful and something I'd like to use at least in the meantime. Meh.
