"Hide your money." She whispered. She saw the figure approaching. "It's a bandit scout." She whispered. "It's only one man. He sees our camp and is approaching. Hide. We'll surprise him." She pulled out a knife and her sword.

He grabbed his purse and scaled up the tree next to him tieing it into one of the branches. He stayed up there completely motionless waiting for the man. His heart was racing and pounded so loud he thought it might give him away.

The man approached their camp.
"Oh ho ho. Looks like some little mice 'been livin' in our territory. I'll show them who's boss around here....ho ho!" He laughed. He was a rather rotund fellow whose grammar was limited. He wore a ripped tunic and ripped slacks. He had cuts and scrapes all around his body which had turned into large scarred areas. He approached their camp with a sack and a knife. It would have been a better idea to alert his fellow bandit friends than to approach a camp alone, despite that it was small. Nika waited till he was in front of the bush where she was hiding until she sprang out with her knife and attacked him. She stabbed him once in the side but he recovered and tried to fend her off. She was quick and ruthless. She added to his large collection of cuts and scars.

Eric scrambled from the tree and then when the man was close enough he snapped the whip at him catching the man's ankle. With a pull the man stumbled back and fell. Eric let go of the whip and took a dagger in each hand landing on the man who'd fallen just in front of him. He sunk one dagger into the man's stomach, the other through his neck. Once the on in the man's neck sank to the handle, he ripped it across gouging the man's neck open. As he did this though the man swung an arm across and caught Eric's shoulder with his dagger flinging him to the side. He pinned Eric to the ground with the dagger in his shoulder and held him there until he started to go weak.

Nika ran up and grabbed her long blade and with one quick slash, the bandit's head rolled off his body. The body collapsed ontop of Eric, fresh blood running like a river, like lava coming from a freshly erupted volcano down the stump of his neck.
She panted heavily. "Are you, are you alright?"

He rolled the lifeless body off of him as besst he could with one arm and got up, now drenched in blood. He yanked the dagger from his shoulder wincing in pain. It had gone in deep and now it had it's own river of blood trickling running down his arm. "We shoudl get going" He left his arm limp at his side and went to his bags pulling out a bandage. "Wrap this quickly, I'll clean it up when we reach that town."

She said nothing, grabbing some bandages and wipes. She used the wipe and some cool water and cleaned off the area. She wrapped around his shoulder with the bandage.
"I'm sorry this had to happen. We probably should have just continued onward..." She sighed.

He was grumpy and tired and now his arm was killing him, he sounded irritated when he talked to her "Don't worry about it, s**t happens." once she'd finished he went over and packed up his things using his arm as little as possible then he untethered his horses from the tree and climbed up on Xiwang "Ready?" He wasn't nearly as mad as he sounded.

Nika sighed. She gathered her things and packed to go.
"Don't forget your purse." She ran up to the tree and climbed it, removing the purse and carrying it down, handing it to him. While she was there, she picked the dead body's pockets for any valuables. She found nothing and she didn't want his dagger so she mounted Peppermint.

He took the purse and tied it onto his belt. With a sigh he rubbed his face with his good hand "Thanks and sorry I'm so jerky right now, I didn't sleep well last night" He turned Xiwang "Let's go, I'm following you"

"Alright." She rode Peppermint quickly down the path. "It'll be a few hours before we reach the town." She said.

He nodded urging Xiwang on with a gentle flip of the reigns. When the horse started moving faster, the bumping made his arm hurt worse, but he gritted his teeth and rode on. "That's fine." From being a servant he had learned to ignore pain to do what he had to and was doing his best. In order to forget the pain he pulled out his book and started reading it. He didn't need to see the pages closely to read them, with the pace they were going it was nearly impossible anyways, but since he knew the story he just repeated it in his head, his eyes scanning the page blankly.

A half an hour passed in silence. She didn't know quite what to say and she didn't want to upset him by talking so she rode quitely. The sound of hooves thumped on the forest floor. Then it dawned on her that that was the first man she'd ever killed. She felt a bit sick and uneasy but said nothing.

After about an hour he sighed and looked at her. "Are you ok? You seem awfully quiet." He put his book away and urged Xiwang forward to ride next to her.
