The doctor leaned over Eric's shoulder looking at it a moment. "I need you to get out of those filthy clothes."
"Ok" Eric stood up and stripped off his clothes tossing them in a pile in the corner, then he laid bacck down pulling a blanket over his naked body covering from the waist down in case Nika came back.
"Thank you no just lie still this will probably hurt" Over about an hour the doctor thouroughly cleaned out his wound, stitched it shut and bandaged it up. Eric layed there patiently as possible while the doctor worked.
"You'll be fine, you need to rest for at least three days, you've lost a lot of blood. I'm sure your girlfriend there will take care of you."
Eric laughed "She's NOT my girlfriend. We're just traveling together for a time."
"Oh.."he cleared his throat "I'm sorry" The doctor packed up his things "Well i do hope she keeps you in bed, that wound is near infection and if it isn't tended properly it will get infection. The cut went deep enough to hit one fo the main arteries, if it gets infected it could carry it to your heart and kill you." He finished packing up and left.
Eric laid back with a sigh and fell asleep almost instantly.

Nika returned from the stables and headed down the hall of the inn. She opened the door and peered in. She noticed that Eric was asleep on the sofa.
Poor kid. She thought. He must be exhausted. Well, I'll let him rest now.
She walked over to Eric and noticed that the doctor had sewn up his wound.
Thanks goodness. She thought. Nika was pretty exhausted herself. She locked the door to their room, not knowing what sort of people lived in the town, and went over to her bed. She figured Eric was asleep so she undressed and opened the door to their small bathroom. She enjoyed a hot bath, cleaning the grime and dust off her body. She washed her clothes in the water too and set them in the sink to dry. She had seen Eric's dirty clothes on the floor and she washed his too.
She put on underwear and a tunic and climbed into the soft bed. It felt very good to her sore and stiff body. She thought Eric would like it much better in the bed but he was already asleep.

He slept til mid-afternoon and then only woke up to go to the bathroom. He stiffly got of the couch and peered around seeing her in bed he blushed pulling the blanket around himself. He made his way quietly into the bathroom and relieved himself, washed his face and drank some water from the sink. Then he laid bakd down on the couch and nodded off again for another hour or so before waking up. He was starving, he laid there wondering where his things were, what time it was, where he could get some food...

"Agh, what time is it?" Nika moaned, rolling around in the bed. She'd forgotten where she was...she thought she was still in the castle...she heard someone walking around and she moaned, "don't touch those books....over....ahh...over there." She yawned, thinking one of the castle maids had come into her room and was about to displace her books. She woke up fully and sat up in bed, scratching her scalp. Then she realized she was in Divanna. "Oh." She said there rubbing her eyes.

He looked over to her "It's sometime in the afternoon, I'd guess 3 maybe 4. How was your nap?" he still looked tired but not nearly as pale.

Nika blinked. "I slept well. Did you? Are you sure you should be up and walking around like that? What did the doctor tell you?" She yawned again, pushing her hair out of her face.

He laughed then winced as his arm throbbed "He said I need 2-3 days of rest, but I think I can get up and walk to the bathroom. He said that it needs to be kept clean and tended and all that normal jazz." He yawned. "I think I want to get some food I'm famished. Where is my stuff I looked around quickly and all I saw was yours. Did the bellhop ((I can't think of a better term right now)) bring my things in?"

"I believe he did...but listen, just lay down in the big bed here, not the sofa, and I'll bring you what you need. Unless you gotta whizz, I want you in bed." She laughed at her crude word choice. "Honestly, you should be in bed. I know it's frustrating. I hate being bedridden too but if you want to continue this trip then...it would behoove you to get in bed again."

He waved his hand and shook his head "Nah you can have the bed, the couch is good enough for me, it's definately a step up from the cot I had at the castle." He smiled "So are you going to play my lil slave for the next few days since I can't get out of bed?" He said playfully and rolled his lip down giving her puppy dog eyes and doing his best not to break it with a smiles.

Nika chuckled, "yeah I suppose. Whatever you want to call it. But honest, if you slept in the bed, your recovery might be faster. Besides, if this puny joint had another room, you'd be sleeping in a big bed like this anyhow." She sighed, bringing him some dried fruit and a canteen of water.

He laughed "Naw I was just joking about the slave thing, you really don't have to if you don't want to, I know you had other plans... thank you" he took the fruit and started eating it quickly "And really, I feel bad that you're stuck in a room with me to begin with without any privacy, so you can have the bed. As long as you can promise to not look under my sheet when I'm sleeping" He smiled jokingly.

"Ah! What a splendid idea, thanks, Eric." She laughed hard. "No, I'm only kidding. I'm not that much of a pervert. But I will help you out since you are my traveling companion. It's a great blessing actually. No one else would have ventured this far out of the city with me. Ashling, maybe, but she's a busy girl and not exactly a rough-and-tumble type of person, though I'm sure if she stuck around me long enough she would become like that...." Nika sighed. "Anyway I honestly don't mind it." She realized that Eric hadn't noticed she'd only been wearing a tunic and a pair of underwear. "I'm not a very private or modest person." She laughed, pointing to her exposed undergarments.

He blushed a bit "Actually I had noticed I just didn't want to draw your attention to it and have you put your pants on." he winked "I'm a guy, it's my job to notice these things. So about that food...." He smiled trying to change the subject.

Her face grew red for a moment.
"Ah right, food." She said, grabbing him more dried fruit and meat and brought it to him.

He laughed "I'm sorry I'm starving. You can eat too" he offered some back to her. Slowly and painfully he pulled himself up to a sitting position and swung his legs over the side of the couch leaving half of it free. "Care to sit?"
