Mandrake stopped and rolled his eyes, setting Lene down. "I do not like when you are right about being found, Lene..."
Color swept up her cheeks as she smiled, "Bored already Serenata? I doubt you'll find us doing anything better. Mandrake has some crazy notion that I should maintain some type of honor..." She grabbed his hoof with hers.
"You must hold to the values of your community. It is enough that I shame you. You do not need my further help to become an outcast."
"You are no outcast, either of you. Those who think so will answer to me." His voice was low and menacing. It seems seeds have already been sown...

And I know who to thank for that... "Nicholai seems to remind me often of the same thing..." she beamed up at him trying to keep the conversation light. "There will be a day someday soon when his expression will be quite priceless."

"Lene has mentioned making me one of you..." He smiled and squeezed her hoof.
"I do not like going to ground and leaving you alone..." She wrapped his arm around her, "What Mandrake wants to know is what will happen to him...I told him I couldn't answer...but maybe your lifemate could, Serenata."

Perhaps, though I too feel your aunt and Uncle would best be able to help. "You are free to pick my brain, though I am sure you aunt and uncle are much wiser on this topic than I."
"Then I think we'll have to pay them a visit, Lene. I need to learn more before I decide to commit to this with all of me..."
Lene nodded and bit her lip, a look of sorrow passing over her face.
Nicholai frowned, "Has Lene not explained the call of lifemates?"
Mandrake sighed, "She said that we need each other to live...and that there's only one lifemate for each of her people. I assume that means there is only one for me since I am hers."

Lene shot her sister an icy stare. I wanted him to choose for himself...
"I had not realized..." Mandrake frowned, "Then I should become as you are as soon as I can. I do not want Lene to suffer anything."

You are right... Lene smiled softly, "We should go talk to Aunt Callista and Uncle Valzar. Uncle Valzar was also converted, though under different circumstances. I'm sure he'll help us."
