The silence that sat between them as they both remembered the loss of a normal life was weighted with common pain. His sentence didn't have to be finished, there was a wordless understanding that Taakya picked up from some unknown sense....

This split however the moment that their conversation was continued. Taakya hid her face a bit as he corrected her, taking his remarks far too seriously, but she couldn't help it, she was used to reprimands, no friendly correction. Despite that she took in the information for a later date, not wishing to show her ignorance again. Wordless nods filled her part of the conversation, silently recieving the consequence of her speaking up. The poor girl needed to get much thicker skin and fast.... In order to remove the awkwardness of just sitting there, she fideled with the stew, pretending to try to cool it faster, though careful examination would see it was cool enough to eat, she simply wasn't in the mood for such an action. Her hands went through the motion of retrieving her favorite tubers onto her plate, though her mind was elsewhere, wondering if she had annoyed him with her conversation.

That worry dissolved however at the simple gesture of passing a roll. Her eyes brightened a bit, a shiny life coming to the dark pools of color as she looked back at him again. Her hand wordlessly lifted to take the morsel, a smile the only thank you she could manage. After a few more moments of silent munching between them, she came upon a question nearly necessary to ask, "What should I expect tomorrow? I don't know what I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to go...."

((holy crap I have to figure out lesson dont I? *cries* I know nothing about weaving or sewing or anything like that! I cant even sew a straight line with the sewing maching! *cries some more*))

Why had she looked so sad just then? Had he said something to offend her or hurt her feelings; Moranis was confused. He thought they were bonding over shared memories though obviously her life had been harder than hers. The stew scalded his tongue a little making it even harder for him to conversate.

"Tomorrow I am sure that the MasterWeaver will have someone come and take you to your classes. It might even be me; though I have advanced classes in the afternoon. There are many classes to go through: Color Theory, Sewing, Basic Weaving...we even learn how to repair the looms. At least the basic repairs..."

Patting her on the shoulder, Moranis gave her a genuine smile. "I think you will do just fine."

((*laughs* we can just skip over those, bs some s**t if it comes up in conversation, maybe go to where they are talking in class or something, but I'm sure we don't really have to include the actual lessons, we know that they'll just learn things valuable to them but not us xD))

Taakya nodded, using a piece of the roll to scoop up a small portion of her stew, blowing a little air on it to cool the hot meal to edible temperatures. She listened intently to the boy, a little shiver of excitement going up her spine at the different classes. "I've picked up sewing from having to repair clothing as the eldest daughter of a hold, but I've never gotten to actually learn the proper technique of it! I remember when I was little my mother would make gorgeous little scenes with her needle word." After she had swallowed a bite, a wide smile spread her face, one that only her work could bring out in her. She would learn so much here, eagerness showed brightly across her face as she willed the sun passes until her first lesson to pass more quickly.

His touch sent another shiver across her body, though of a different sort. Hall life and hold life were so different, she couldn't decide exactly which she liked better, but it was certainly obvious in this instance that Hall life was much more interesting. Her new companion was so open with her and friendly, not something common in any major hold. Her dark eyes shone as they drifted up to his, her shoulder lifting towards his hand a bit in understanding, "Thank you Moranis, you're support means a lot..." That soft, contemplative smile spread across her tan cheeks once more as the evening meal started coming to a close.

((I am going to time jump to the next morning so that we can get moving some more. *looks at Moranis* *whisper*Ithinkhelikesher*whisper*))

Moranis had had a funny feeling in his chest after the supper last night. Taakya and he had stayed in the dining hall and chatted even after the meal was over; they even walked together back to the apprentice floor of the Hall before going off to their respective sides.

The light of dawn broke into his room even as Meekar cheeped happily as he came zooming into the room. Groaning, Moranis rolled over to hide from the little brown's enthusiastic hello. "What do you want, Meeks?"

Chirping once, the flit settled and held out his leg. Oh yes! His father did mention a letter from Keedra had arrived for him yesterday. How nice that she still kept in contact, unlike Choparl... But that was neither here nor there and much had to be done today. Classes in the hall started a little later than most other halls but they also ran later into the day. The MasterWeaver had realised that some did not function as well as others did and a few sunmarks after dawn was when it was time for all to assemble. Hey! If he hurried, he could clean up in the bathing room before any of the others guys got there. Taking his sister's letter from Meekar, Moranis shooed the brown out as he clammered to get dressed.

He wondered when Taakya would be awake. He was sure they had all the same morning classes together; Moranis wanted to be the one to show her around. Whistling happily, he headed to the bathing room to clean himself up.

((yey! *delights* taakya: *blush uber blush* xD she's so cute))

A small yawn escaped Taakya as she woke blearily from dream filled sleep. A peak around her room reminded her of where she had ended up yesterday, memories trickling back. She had been informed that the morning assembly wasn't until after dawn, a delightful break for the hold girl. Dawn meant you were done with breakfast and starting work in a hold, and so now she felt like she had gotten to sleep in a good number of sunmarks.... That being so, she had the itching need to get up and start her day now. A day without production was a day wasted in her raising, and she wasn't going to drop all her beliefs now...

Without too much groaning, the new weaver girl rose from her warm covers, slipping into an appropriate set of tunic and work pants that cut off at mid calf to allow better air circulation in the hot climate. Her arms extended upwards, shrugging into the well worn in fabric and stretching her muscles out for the new day. She was quite ignorant of any protocols for order of washing or anything of the sort, so she decided to simply follow the manners she had already learned. After gathering her bath things she went to the room that had been pointed out to her earlier in the female dormitories and washed up for the day alone.

Thoughts of yesterday's events slid through her mind, mostly dominated by Moranis and what he said, did or anything otherwise related to the boy. A few butterflies sent through her abdomen as she wondered when she would see him again....

After cleaning up, Moranis got dressed quickly. It would be serving time soon and then classes. MasterWeaver Jorman was first with Sewing and Mending. It was an easy class except that his fingers were not quick to get the tight stitches.

Taking a deep breath Moranis made his way to Taakya's room. He hoped that he would not be waking her up. As a hold girl, she should be used to early mornings. Knocking gently at her door, he waited.

Taakya was just putting her sketch book and supplies into her side pack as a knock sounded at her door. Confusion spread across her features for a moment, not at all used to this act of visitors. She checked to make sure there was nothing messily laying about and crossed the modest room to the door. Her hand delayed a moment on the handle, wondering who it could possibly be, poor naive girl! As she opened it cautiously and peaked around the dark wood, a smile spread across her face. She opened it up quickly to allow Moranis into the room, "Oh hi! Uh, how are you doing?"

A meek smile spread her face as she went back to her pack, flipping through the sketch book to make sure it was the right one, then tossing it in her pack, "Is it time to go to the morning meal? I'm afraid I don't know the way to the hall yet.... Or any of my classes." She bit her lower lip a bit, pulling the carrying strap onto her shoulder. This caused her tunic to slip down her shoulder on the opposite side however, which she quickly corrected, a shy smile peaking out to Moranis.

Rubbing the back of his head Moranis grinned at her. Her room was much neater than his. His was covered with pieces of leather and clothe, various dye pots...possibly food... And his bed was never made. "I can to take you down to morning meal. After that, our first class is Basic Mending. Perhaps with you showing me, I can finally get those tight stitches down right. Master Jorman is always complaining about how my clothes are falling apart at the seams."

A smile of relief met Taakya's features, "That would be so nice of you, just until I learn my way, then I'm sure you'll have friends you'll want to walk down with..." She trailed off, wondering what his reaction would be. Hiking the pack a little higher on her shoulder, she shifted a bit with a ready atmosphere about her. Her stomach gurgled a bit, apparently not satisfied with the delicious food from last night anymore.... A slight blush flushed her cheeks under her olive skin at the sound, what an embarassing body function. Her dark eyes looked over Moranis's shoulder, indicating she was ready to leave for the meal. A last sweep of her room promised nothing was out of place, though her eyes did fall across a vibrantly blue handkerchief enlayed with gold, her idea for the cloth from yesterday. Her spare hand reached across Moranis to grab it, his smell filling her senses and a shy smile spreading her face. Lingering for a moment longer than necessary to get the scarf, she moved to curl her dark hair up and tuck it under the bandana in a decorative fashion. Now she was ready.

As she had been doing her hair up, she had also been listening intently to his words. Her heart skipped a beat at the mention of their first class together. Her hopes were answered! From what he mentioned of the Mending class, it was needle work that she had had to do her whole life. "I couuld certainly try I suppose, I'm not sure I'll be all that much help though...." She was not just being a humble girl, Taakya truly believed her needlework skills were inferior. The girl had the impression that everyone in this Hall would naturally be better than her in their work becaues they lived in the Weaver Hall. Her nimble fingers fell to the cut-off shorts she had stiched herself, wondering just how they would compare to the classwork.... A little laugh spilled from her crimson lips at his comment, "I'm sure they aren't that bad!"

"Master Jorman complains that is is a wonder my clothes do not fall off my skin. My fingers just do not seem to be nimble enough."

He watched as she reached across him to grab a pretty kerchief of blue and gold. He forgot to speak as she arranged herself and her hair very prettily. Moranis's throat got all dry as she gave herself and her room one final look over.

"Um...morning meal?" He said simply.

A cheerful nod met the boy's simple comment as Taakya started out of her room, barely remembering coming in the night before, it had been so late! The two of them had stayed in the hall talking until the night watchers had come in for an evening meal.... Despite the late hour of her return, she was not terribly tired, just without suitable memory of the last hours, including how in the Red Star's name she got down to the hall again. "Um... Which way again?" Her thin fingers reached to the base of her neck, holding it for a moment unconsciously as she tried to remember which was it was, but failed. Her toes lifted from the ground as she turned to look at Moranis for a hint, "I'm afraid I'm still getting my bearings..."

((go short posts *laughs*))

"Oh yeah, we have to go eat now."

Good going Moranis, he thought to himself. Moving forward, they went back out into the hall. For some reason, his brain was not yet awake. At least when around her; they made their way to the center stairwell and begin to walk down. The smell of fresh bread and klah lofted up the levels.

"What classes are your favorites?"

A soft smile filled with hidden laughter lifted Taakya's rosed cheeks as she nodded to the boy. "Unless there is something else we must do first..." She trailed off, hoping there wasn't since she was quite hungry.... Once the boy had started leading the way, her footsteps followed him dutifully, watching the cobbled ground to make sure an ungraceful moment did not trip her up. As the pair neared the dining hall the smell of breakfast met Taakya's senses, prompting her stomach to beg once more to be filled.

Moranis's question interrupted her thoughts quickly however. She searched for an answer but realized she didn't even remember which classes they had. "Well, I haven't really had time to memorize my schedule... I suppose I would like the subjects involving tapestry weaving and embroidering the best, since that's what I like to do when I can, but that could be changed by a sour teacher quickly." Laughter spilt from her at the thought of it, was there such thing as a bad teacher? She had never had a proper schooling, only the Hold tutors when she had lived in the north and then her father's knowledge when they moved south. Otherwise there had been no school for her to learn from but her own intuition and trial-and-error learning. "I've never really had actual classes before you see... Being Hold raised I mean..." The higher ranked hold children had had lessons, but no one had bothered with the only daughter of a poor holder, except for her mother, but she was generally busy anyway.

"That's okay if you haven't been properly taught. Some of the best talent was not taught but learned through trial and error. My father doesnt talk about his past but someone once told me he was born into a trader family."

Heading towards the apprentice table once more, they sat closer to the ends instead of the middle. He was not sure how late they had stayed up talking but the guards had sent them to their rooms. Passing her a bowl of redfruit juice and some citrus fruit, Moranis looked for yellowfruit himself. "Some teachers are stricter than others and could be called hidebound but all of them are Masters for a reason."

Taakya smiled gratefully at him, he hadn't actually complimented her, but certainly had made her feel much better. She also noticed that he used the term father, which he had seemed to avoided earlier yesterday... Hearing the brief information about the Master Weaver himself's education reassured Taakya she would not be considered completely ignorant, or at least this situation was not proof of it....

As the pair started breakfasting, Taakya's eyes wandered the walls again, the tapestries looking different in the morning sun than they had by glow light. She was brought back to the table when her hands took the juice without her noticing, and her stomach reminded her that it wanted more than just juice. Which meant that she didn't need much help in quickly starting on a citrus fruit that was passed to her. With Moranis around she would certainly not go hungry! Taking a roll to munch on between bites of fruit, Taakya's ears focused back in on his words. It sounded very much like the "normal" schooling that she had heard about from the richer hold children. "But isn't a master simply one who's reached a certain level in their craft? Do masters necessarily have to be good teachers?"
