Part I
Jack was a simple man. He was extraordinarily plain with no special talents and no female attachments. His means of income were the nightly games of poker at the Blackbear Inn. This didn't provide much, but just enough to live by, so the only reason he signed up with a pirate crew was for the extra coin and for something to do.
Jack knew he didn't have rank or privileges. He didn't come from a wealthy or high-class family and had no connections, so it was no surprise when he was ordered to "swab the deck" and "hoist the colors". He didn't mind though. It was all about the possible adventure.
