"Grab him, too. That guy has more dumb luck than anyone else here." Rithvur shook his head and picked up the pace. "Double it, cadets. N'tallon! X'on! Get over here and march!" He snapped, calling a few students from other squads over, ones who had shown a lot of promise in class.
His student selection suggested he knew more than he was saying. Why else would he risk a Cadet with a history of depression fly an M3? There was definatly something strange going on...
The ship shuddered in another blast.

Kia yelped and shot out from under Jasea. Aki gave a lopsided smile and helped Jasea up. She followed close behind the commander, wondering still why he had selected her for M3 work.

Aki shuddered when the ship suffered another blow.

Rithvur and the (mostly) straggaling cadets entered the hangar through a side door while robots handled the main doors, admitting a few students, but holding most back.
"Mithril!"
"Maxedel! You got here. Good. Are they the ones?" she blinked, startled to see a flash of familiar gold fur.
"Yeah. It's like I said, isn't it? Live?" She nodded.
"Live and like nothing we've seen before. Even the Whaleions don't recognize it, though they say it matches old legends of theirs."
"Alright. Are the PETs armed?" She nodded again. "Good. CADETS!" His roar cut through the clatter and muttered conversations. "Find your PET, get in. We'll breif you while you prep to fly. This is an emergency situation, so kick your heels up and GO!" His eyes, a snapping gray, caught Aki's and he pointed at a bluish M3, with touches of violet in it, almost like fire. "Yours. Get moving, Cadet. See you in Space, Arena." with that, he took off for another ship colored similarly to Aki's. Mithril too went for a similar mech. These were slightly different from the M3s. Sleeker, smoother, more compact in their ship form.
Were these M4s? The newest ship the Federation had to offer? The ships rumored to hide out in hangar B6?

"...This is LCF-091 to bridge, do you copy? ...bridge, do you copy?", Touya had been in this state, almost shouting at the faint static and radio music he hears from the bridge.

For an hour and a half, no one yet had responded his calls - except for the last reception he had which tells him to position and standby to a designated hangar and wait for succeeding instructions.

LCFs are single personnel transport ships of the Lunar Cradle and were used mostly for scout, delivery and recon missions. They are sleek, contoured and easily maneuverable though lacks proper armaments as the design was properly focused on hide-and-seek situations. It does have a partial cloaking mechanism that renders it glassy invisible at sight range.

Touya dropped the radio at open channels to sieve any messages going in and out of the academy. Something stirs in him quite nasty that the academy isn't spacing out, and is in a big crisis right now. 'Why did I ever got into this mess... I should've been on Terra right now and studying parallax neuron networks instead...'

Aki saluted. "Yes, sir!" She turned and ran to her PET and climbed in. It was a small PET, clean cut and simple. Aki never remembered seeing these when she had gone to help her flight team prep for training sequences.

"'Kay, Kia! I'll be back!" Kia barked response and trotted back to wai

A worker- one of the few human workers on the ship (well, humanoid, he did have cat ears, tail, and claws)- looked at her. "I think he wants your dog in the ship, too. Elsewise they wouldn't'a had me rig up this harness thing," He drawled, amused. "So call her back..." The man shuddered- cats and dogs didn't get along well on his homeworld- "An' I'll strap 'er in."

Another, this one robotic, ran over to make sure Jasae was set, as other robots darted over to attend to the other students.

Meanwhile...

"LCF-091, this is Academy Com. I repeat, this is Academy Com." A female cadet's face blinked into existance on the screen meant for such faces. She look frantic and frazzled. She glanced to the side and nodded. "Yes, sir." It seemed to be directed at someone off-screen.
"LCF-091, you are to go west and dock in the Hangar A-9. I repeat, go west and dock in Hangar A-9. Someone will be there to explain the situation, and ansure you dock safely. Please, avoid the Northern part of the Academy at all costs. I repeat, Avoid the North. LCF-091, do you copy?"
While the message wasn't in the neatest form, it was quite clear. And she'd kept to standard protocol for the most part.

Aki smiled. "Yes sir!" She put her fingers to her lips and released a pircing whistle. Kia barked and ran over. Her fluffy tail wagged happily as she was strapped in; she was happy to go along. "Thank you." Aki said to the humaniod man after Kia was in.

Touya hustled in and reverted from his laxative posture when he heard the comms finally come to life. "Academy Com, this is LCF-091, readout confirmed and is heading at A-9. Readout confirmed."

He immdiately pulled the engine to warm-up and engaged to the LCF's navigational panel to plot Hangar A-9's coordinates. Upon scanning the onboard panel he noticed his radar picking up PET engine emmissions from the northern part of the Academy. 'What a day... PET space combat drills already?! ', he thought to himself.

No sooner did the engines green light lit up and he pushed it to maximum stealth - cruising the nearest path to A-9 without causing any unnecessary intrusion to the Academy premises.

He made it to Hangar A-9 soon enough and landed the LCF on one of it's empty decks. The LCFs door swung open and he stepped down, a 9mm beretta in his latch ready in case of hostilities.

((Kiku! That wasn't on your broadcast. It's a private line to DeVar's character.))

To the Cadets going to Combat:

Mithril appeared on the com screens. "Listen up. No time for formalitites, or repititions, so Listen, Cadets!" She glared. "We're pretty sure the Academy is under attack. We don't know whose ships, we don't know what nation, or what part of the Federation, if they're even part of the Federation. There is live fire, you will see trouble, will be dancing with Death. You know those lectures I gave ya'll on this Not Being a Game? Well this is where this applies! You have live ammo, so watch where you fire!"
Rithvur added his own two-cents.
"Look out for the enemy. They're using slow, high-powered guns, and most of your ships won't take a solid hit from them. I know you're wondering why you're being called on, maybe some of you already know: you're the best. The sharpest shooters, the fastest pilots, the quickest thinkers. And I don't like to say it, but the Academy can't handle a constant barage like that. We're counting on you to defend your home. We're on the fringes of the Federation. The edges, the very border of our civilization. That means we can't count on a Federation Fleet to sweep in and save our tails from smoking into the sun. Fight for your school, for your friends, and your lives."

To DeVars:

Someone ran forward. "Hi, no time for introductions. The Academy's under attack on the northern docking bay. The data we have on the shark-ships, they look like old Terran sharks, is being up-loaded to your ship. We hate to ask you to go out and fight for a school you'll probably hate by the end of the year, but... We need your skill." She chattered straight, leading him through the hangar into a hall. "You're top notch, we've seen your ranks. Annnnd.... We really need the help. The Federation's nearest collection of ships are way to far away to get here in time. I'm not supposed to say it, but you'll be in an M4, one of the best ships the Federation has to offer... If you don't want to fight, I'll hand you over to a droid who'll take you to your rooms so you can, maybe, get settled..."
She wrung her hands. "But I hope you'll choose to fight. I'm just an engineer student who hurts herself everytime I get in a PET. I didn't qualify to help... You'll fight though, won't you?" She begged. It was clear that, despite her self-professed lack of skill, she wished she were out there, helping her friends and teachers defend this school where she would spend six or more years of her life.

Touya's hand flicked at the latch no sooner than he heard footsteps coming close. His reactions triggered quite sharply though his facial reactions still showed the same old uncaring Touya everybody sees. He released the tension from his gun arm and stopped to just unlocking the latch. It was an academy engineer.

'... they even hacked my records just for me to be on this academy..., he thought to himself as he moves in with the girl, who in turn gives him details of what was happening at the northern region. '... this is going too off-hand. I don't even know what an M4 is...'

The only mechanoid Touya has ever rode on so far were all of his father's test prototypes, and he got the Cradle's record of 78% blow-up ratio, the highest in it's league. Though, the prototype state still stands for most of it, Touya is frequently harassed and teased by other pilots due to the common mishap.

"I... guess...", Touya answered the engineering student. He weighed out his options and seeing that he's in a no-win situation no matter which he chose, he chose the part where he could play a part... and die quickly should the situation prove to be more than he could handle.

jasae hummed as the cockpit closed and when he was sure it was closed all the way he turned on a music program that he secretly installed earlier and began to groove to the beat "mental note install cooler into pet later" and sat back as the music played

((Sorry Silent-chan! I got confused....^^; wink )

Aki stopped her checks to listen closley to her commanders instructions. So the acadamy was under attack, and no one knew why. Aki's face crincled slightly with her frown. Slow high-powered guns, she'd have to avoid those, they'd blow her to smitherines.

We're the best? Aki thought, surprised. "Understood, Commander!" Said Aki with a small salute. "We'll fight hard for our school!"

"Good, because no one else will." Arena remarked dryly. "Try not to get killed- I don't want to train new Cadets as your replacements. In other words, be careful. You know we don't know enough, but we have to stop them now. Before the shields break down. Before they blow our students- your friends- into oblivion. Before they have a chance to sweep past us into the Federation."

DeVars:
She beamed at him. "Come on, I'll show you to the ships." She said, smiling at him as she skipped down the hall, falling into a wall as the Academy shuddered in another blast. But she got to her feet and headed on.
