She smirked back at him but held the blanket out as if to welcome him into its snug confines.
"Oh I have no such worries against you good sir,"she replied, mocking him but in good fun for a smile crinkled the corners of her eyes,
"Yet are you sure you feel safe with such a criminal as myself?" With the last sentence her silver eyes gleamed as star beams from the stained glass windows hit her orbs, two shining gems in the darkness. Her black wings blended in with the shadows and to allow Matthew more room she folded them close to her back. Gazing up at the arches of the cathedral, her eyes lingered on the darker patches of shadow where no light reached.

"Of course," He chuckled, clicking his teeth lightly as he slid into the warm folds of the fabric with the criminal, "I bite." Wrapping his cold arms around Hitomi's shoulders, folding his hands just above her chest, the silver angel rested his back against the church pew. Pulling the black angel's slim closer to his, the youth rested his head to her shoulder.
"So much for a heart of ice," He chuckled, waves of the woman's heat already pervading through the thin material of his sleeveless white shirt. 'Sometimes I think the predators get to have all the fun,' He sighed to himself, grinning slightly.

"Your arms are freezing,"she replied dryly although the heat from his chest seemed to consume her body. Her body which had been frigid at first seemed to relax and she leaned precariously back on him so that they barely touched yet his body heat seemed to radiate through her although his arms were like ice. She glanced at his head that lay on her small shoulder and gave him a small grin,
"Hmm.. maybe I do have to worry about you."

"Oh really?" He chuckled, teasingly blowing air against the back of the woman's earlobe. Although a strict moral code demanded his celebacy, the silver-haired youth could feel his body warming pleasantly. Throughout every training he'd taken to achieve the level of Belial's Right Hand, Matthew had always pushed aside the dangerous roads of lust and fiery passion with a smile or a laugh.
Pulling a blanket around their shoulders, the youth rested his chin to the young woman's shoulder, drawing her in protectively as the sun met with the horizon. "What do you think it'll be like?" He asked, excitement tickling his voice. With warm fingertips, the boy had brushed a fickle strand of silky hair out of the girl's face. With a warm smile, she turned—

She smiled at him although she felt sure that her heart was pounding dangerously loud against her chest. The small breath against her earlobe did nothing to prevent these feelings from arising but in fact seemed to be a coal in the fire. Nervous giggles to rise within her chest but she held them in and they felt like bubbles filling up her chest cavity. The warmth of the blanket and his arms was only a small distraction from the awkward beating of her heart.

"Are you alright?" He chuckled, eyebrows sliding together slightly as he slid his left palm over Hitomi's palpating heart, "You feel kind of hot." Sliding the fingers of his right hand up the black angel's jawline, Matthew checked her forehead's temperature against his own. 'A fever? At this time of year?' He pondered, medical endopedia immediately lighting up four glowing titles within his mind, all of which included fevers and altered heart pace.

His actions, which were caring, served to do nothing to cure her symptoms. His fingers caused a curious reaction in her whole body which shuddered for some reason she didn't believe she wanted to know.
"Yeah I think I'm fine," her own hand pulled itself up out of the cozy blanket, shaking slightly as she felt her forehead. He was right, it was hotter than normal,
"Or maybe not,"she giggled to hide the awkwardness of his hand covering her chest,
"I'm sure it's just..."Hitomi paused and her silver eyes looked down. What could she say?
'It was just you..' she thought.

"Alright, slide your shirt down your shoulders and breathe slowly," He sighed, pulling the blanket down across her chest as he pulled the gloves off of his chilled hands, breathing slowly across the fingertips of his right hand. Immediate pulsations of a cool blue light reverbrated from the youth's hand, vaporous trailers lifting from each digit. 'If we're flying back in the morning, the last thing I need is to be carrying an ill woman while dodging a Death Squadron...'

"No really there's no need I'll be fine,"she said her tongue slipping her up, but yet she found herelf slipping the straps of her clothes down her shoulders shivering as the cold breeze hit her skin. She was nervous yet by the blank look her silver eyes held you wouldn't of known it; what scared her is if he found out there was nothing the matter that it was actually something a little more emotional.

"Oh," He blurbed as he noticed the complection of Hitomi's back, the light fading from his hand, "You're getting a slight cold, spaz." With a soft laugh, the silver-haired angel gave an amused sigh. "You should consider a cloak if you're going to run about at all hours of the night," He admonished, sliding his arms back around the woman's upper chest after returning her straps to her shoulders, pulling the blanket a little tighter around them both to form a warm cocoon. 'Even if we are partly immortal, we can still get sick. I wonder why more angels don't consider little things more often...'

Her cheeks flushed at his chastisement and she averted his gaze to look at the marble floor.
"Well where I was previously we never really needed cloaks, it never got to cold,"she laughed slightly, bitterness laced subtley in the sound yet she didn't care to elaborate on it. Something more important weighed on her mind, a question she had been meaning to ask Matthew but yet could never word it and even the warmth of his embrace didn't distract. Turning around in his arms she looked at him and asked,
"Why..."she paused as if trying to gather her thoughts,
"Why are you so nice to me?"

With a warm smile, Matthew cupped the woman's cheek in his hand, looking Hitomi right in the eyes as though to drive the point home. "When the Shepherd loses a sheep, does he not leave the herd to find it," He brothe evenly, "Even if it has been rolling in the mud?" Brushing a few strands of hair out of her silver eyes, the Lord gave a wink.
"Besides, I haven't been raped, pillaged, eaten, delimbed, decapitated, robbed, or even poked the entire time you've been near. I have given you every oppurtunity to take to steel whatever vendetta you hold against me, and you haven't once lifted a knife to my back." Leaning forward, Matt pressed his lips lightly to the black-winged angel's cheek. "That, is why I am so nice to you, even if are a complete spaz sometimes."

He was right, she was a spaz and his kissing her cheek didn't help her out in that department. Looking up at him she swallowed whatever regrets that she would have and didn't pay attention to the hand that still gently cupped her cheek.
"I couldn't hurt you, you..."her voice broke and she stuttered a few words that didn't make sense than she picked up on the trail of her sentence,
"I just couldn't. You didn't do anything and,"passion was ignited in her voice as she said the last part,
"I never left the Shepard. I was pushed from the herd by another,"she looked in his eyes and desperation tinged her voice,
"You don't remember anything, do you?"

"What do you mean?" He asked curiously, more concerned with her allegory to being framed than her quip to his memory.
"No Matthew, I forbid it!" Belial roared, surprising the youth standing before him with an uncharacteristical spout of emotion. Usually the man was docile, and returned even the most blatant of questions with coldly cheered smiles and patient nods.
"But Sir, there just isn't enough evi—"
"By the love of the Father, leave this case to your superiors! Before the tower rings twelve, I want you out of the city," The ancient angel declared, throwing a bound manuscript to the feet of his protege, "The forest is teeming again; You're going to clean it up, and you're not going to come back until it's cleansed! Do, you, understand, me?"
Biting back a snarl, the youth held his hand out over the manuscript, which snapped up into his grasp with a visible spark of electricity. "Yes," He spat, "Father."

She sighed, maybe it as hopeless.
"It's nothing Matthew, just the past that's all,"she sighed and favored him with warm eyes, eyes that revealed emotions that they hadn't revealed the entire time she spent with him. She just stared at him for a while as if trying to find words to say then spoke softly,
"Matthew, Belial isn't always in the right,"her words were soft as if she was afraid that she may break him,
"Please don't take it the wrong way but he was wrong about me,"her lips trembled slightly,
"I never did anything."
