TsunamiTigris spike is most deffinatly better than angel....why? see the Quotes from season five of angel....Spike ran that show...not his fault it was canceled ...you're seriously basing your entire opinion of that on one season? Of course it's not Spike's fault the show was cancelled, the WB execs are just morons. (seriously, it was one of their best-rated shows). And, sure, Spike was funny, and I loved him in Angel, but he didn't "run" the show.

I read somewhere that the new CEO of the WB network said he wished Angel hadn't been cancelled. I think it was they're most watched show, after Smallville. I really wish they would have done at least one more season, the finale really sucked; there are just too many loose ends. I keep hoping they'll pull a Buffy and switch networks.

Dr Yuya One BIG difference, which I already mentioned Angel with a soul: good guy and sorry for what he did. Spike with a soul: still a b*****d without any sense of repentance. You know, I find it interesting ... When Angel was human, he was a slutty, drunken, womanizing good-for-nothing. When he once again regained his soul, he became compassionate, gentlemanly, refined, and repentant. Spike, on the other hand, was a quiet gentleman, refined (to a point) and shy as a human. But, even when he got his soul back, he remained the b*****d he had become. It makes me wonder if maybe they had gotten the wrong souls returned to them ... It gets even funnier if you look at the actors. I read a couple of interviews with them. David Boreanaz (sweet Angel) was cursing up a storm, while James Marsters (bad-a** Spike) didn't utter one single swear.

Dr Yuya The facts still stand though he was never sorry for all the horrible things he did that he couldn't control when he was evil Spike. BINGO. You just hit the nail on the head. With Angel, it was clear that the soul and the vampiric demon were two separate entities dwelling within one body (thus their ability to separate with a moment of true happiness). Though we don't exactly know the specifics of the interaction between Spike's soul and his demon, we can assume that it's the same setup, just without the threat of the curse. Now, assuming this ... why would the soul feel guilty for anything the demon did? The soul is NOT responsible, as it was NOT there. Even when he was chipped, it was still the demon in charge. The soul, while still human, did nothing wrong, nor did it do anything wrong of its own volition once it returned. Why should it repent? Angel, on the other hand, did have things to repent for while he was human. He was a jackass, plain and simple. In addition, when he first regained his soul, he didn't have Buffy and the others to turn to for help. The one he went to for help (Darla) turned her back on him. So, he went it on his own. It wasn't truly until Whistler found him that he even started to work on redemption. For nearly 100 years, he was just wandering, existing, barely even there. Now, Spike had people there almost immediately when he regained his soul, telling him it was all okay, telling him that they forgave him. "Well, if they forgive me, I mustn't have done anything that bad." Had he been left alone to sort through it himself ... well, there's really no telling what would have happened, but there would have been a better chance that he would have ended up more like Angel. And yes, I DO think about these things too much. blaugh

Spike has the bad boy image that girls always seem to love, he's kind and sensitive to the one he loves, he'd do anything for Dru. And he protects her with everything he has. He's charming and got that funny sarcastic thing going on that makes him cool, just like it does to Xander, and so what if he's older? Sean Connery is over 60 and he's still one of the biggest sex symbols out there. Personally I don't care that he reformed, I loved him better evil. twisted heart

Oooh Controversy I love it. Anyway Spike Kicked some serious a**. A comic relief that added to the flame of BTVS. Personally I don't care what others think about the character whether you hate him or love him I still love him. I respect your opinion of spike, still I dissagree.
Fo all the reasons Phoenix listed and more.
He was funny, he was built, he was bad and addictive, everyone falls for the bad boy at some time or another, and well he was the james dean of buffy a rebel but attacthed to his emotions that drove him all over the place and especially into my heart.

Tamahome Starlite Ok, lets see if this makes sense. I personally think girls find Spike's sense of humor, his wit and his personality more attractive, then his looks. (Being a guy and not gay, I can say Spike wasnt too good looking to me, his face looked like that of Skeletor. But to each his own.) His bad a** persona only intensified his character which in season 2, I think was at his peak. After season 4 and the chip, he kind of mellowed out and became more of a guy in there for wit and the good vampire factor. (A la Angel in seasons 1, part of 2, and 3 in Buffy.) In season 7 though, after Wood tried to kill him, we got our beloved Spike back, well most of him. All except the killing good guys part, but it was short lived as he died and went to Angel. So back to the girls...I think mostly its his personality in character rather than James himself, plus the whole bad boy/sensitive thing works. As for Angel. I think its mostly the dark, mysterious, broody thing that does it for the girls. Angel/David was a pretty good looking guy, until he started gaining weight on the last seasons of Angel. The girls, I think mostly liked Angel for the way he never gave up, the way he wanted to redeem himself, his broody-ness sort to say. As I said in a thread of Buffys Perfect Guy, I think Angel is the most compelling character in the Buffy/Angel universe. He is so selfless and so damn near perfect that its hard not to like him. He left Sunnydale so Buffy wouldnt have to worry about him while she did her job, he gave up Conor in order to let him have a better life, he gave up his humanity after having it for a day so that he could still help others, and in the end, he signed away any chances to become human again after redeeming himself just to make a dent in the side of evil. He is a nice guy, a nice guy who can whoop a**. Angel is my favorite character, and I can see why girls do like him. In closing, both vampires have their traits which girls are attracted to, but in the end only one gets Buffy, which I am sure would be Angel. So ladies you can have Spike because as we all know Buffy doesnt really love him, she just said it to make him happy. oh god, i hope you dont like HE-MAN!!!!!the refrence to skeletor scares me!!!!!

Bryn McCardell Am I the only person ever who likes both of them? sweatdrop OK, I'll admit, they're both cute, to me anyway. Angel...he spent such a long time suffering, and such a long time trying to redeem himself, and he hasn't given up. I love him for that. Spike...he's just entertaining. You have to admit, he's entertaining. I love him beyond anything, I can't help liking the bad boys (I'm also a Draco Malfoy fan) but you have to admit, he is entertaining. Or was, in the 2nd season and whenever he was on Angel... I like both evil or not I think that they rule and they have awsome coats and totally different yet simmiliar personalities

The fact that Spike is a badass, is part of the reason he's so cool.
He's got these different sides to him... not so much like Angel. Even with a soul he can be a creep. But then there's that side of him which is brought out by Buffy... and actually, Dru near the beginning of the series. He has emotions. He's even a bit sensitive. O.O
Mix that up with a bad boy attitude and you have a dream guy for a lot of girls, right there.
I know. I don't understand it either, and I'm a girl...
