After snagging another cookie, Demyx's green eyes turned to Kaleb, the sitarist listening carefully to his explanation.
"You can bring people back? That's...amazing..."
Twitching a single ear, Demyx paused long enough to take a bite of cookie before continuing.
"I...er......someone did that...for me. I...don't know who though."

Kaleb smiled a bit at Demyx's first comment, it had been more luck than anything when he discovered a weave that could resurrect. He hadn't been strong enough to channel the amount of energy required for the spell when he first found it, and cancelling it had been the less dangerous option. Even that left him stunned for a bit, and he hadn't been able to feel his legs or hear properly out of one ear for the rest of the evening.
"You were lucky," Kaleb said with a smile, "I'm glad for that." He took another cookie himself.

"Its's just..hard to understand, ya know? For the longest time I couldn't remember anything at all...now that I do I kinda wish I didn't. There's a major case of irony for ya..."
Demyx laughed a bit, rubbing at the back of his head with a paw.
"Err according to the others...I technically would have died twice...it's just weird being brought back, when..by what they say...we shouldn't even exist anyway..."
Usually the idea that one shouldn't exist would probably seriously depress someone, but Demyx seemed unaffected. Probably just the cookies though.

Kaleb nodded, encouraging Demyx to say more if he had anything else on his mind. "There are things I'd like to forget sometimes as well, but I think it makes us stronger to remember and live with those things." He said quietly.
The scrawny mage looked thoughtful. "You probably don't remember what it's like, dying?"

"That's true though...the past hurts a lot, but it's helped a lot too..."
Demyx nibbled on his cookie, dwelling on Kaleb's question about dying.
"The first time...no. I don't remember anything about it really... See, for me to exist, and be here looking at you..."
Green eyes turned to Kaleb, looking at him closely.
"Someone out there had to have lost their heart... I'm part of them, yet not...it's really hard to explain... But I'm like...whatever's left over from that person that once was..."
Again he scratched at his head. It was odd being serious, but he was quite capable of it if given the chance.
"The second time...yeah I remember it... It was painful, and really disappointing, because I had been trying my best to do my mission yet failed... After that it's nothing but cold black emptiness, worst feeling ever... Then it was waking up in the home of an Audio named Baxter. He said he found me out by the ocean, which is odd cause I know I didn't die there...I'll probably never figure that one out though."
Short story done, Demyx paused to let Kaleb catch up, and to take a sip of his chocolate milk.

Kaleb realized he had finished his glass of chocolate milk, and moved to pour some more. He hadn't ever heard of people losing their hearts like what Demyx was talking about, but he didn't have any reason to not believe. Well, there was that thought that it was physiologically impossible to live without a heart, but Kaleb wasn't so set in his ways that he would insist on that fact.
"That must have been hard." Kaleb said quietly, looking down at the table for a second. "I'm just glad you're alive now, otherwise I wouldn't have had anyone to make cookies and drink chocolate milk with." He looked up and grinned lopsidedly, grabbing another cookie.

Demyx grinned back, quickly moving to grab the little mage in a hug.
"I'm glad too...this time around is better! Not so much fighting..and I've made good friends!"
That's all that mattered anyway, right? The past was horrible, but there wasn't a darn thing he could do about it.

Kaleb blinked and blushed a bit as he was hugged, nearly dropping his cookie in surprise. He stuttered something incomprehensible, but managed to hug Demyx back.

Happy with his return hug, Demyx released the other and went back to his cookies and milk.
"Mmmm..."
Tail swishing, the sitarist plopped into a chair to enjoy the treats.

Kaleb smiled, a bit of a blush still visible across his nose. He was glad he had a friend to do things like this with, baking wasn't nearly as much fun alone.
"Did you want me to make you a copy of the recipe so you can take it home with you?" The mage asked, nibbling on his cookie.

"I'd love that!"
Demyx nibbled on his own cookie, grinning back at Kaleb.
"Luxord isn't too fond of cookies and stuff, but he makes some for me 'cause I like them."

Kaleb pulled out a notepad, and began copying down the recipe in a more legible version of his graceful scrawl. "That's nice of him," Kaleb said as he finished off the ingredients list. "Maybe next time you can help him out, now that you've baked cookies yourself."
He smiled as he tore the note from it's pad and handed it to Demyx. "If you lose it, I can always write it out for you again."

"Thanks!"
Demyx took the note, carefully tucking it away in a pocket. The blonde was always careful with his notes, so he was sure to hold onto this one for a long time.
"I bet he'll be proud to know I learned something today, thanks a bunch for letting me come over Kaleb!"
Demyx replied, grinning at the little mage.

Kaleb grinned back, he felt kind of warm and fuzzy when he noticed the care at which Demyx took with the note. He always liked to feel helpful like that.
"I'm glad I ran into you, it's much more fun baking with someone else. Did you want to take some cookies home with you when you go?"

"Sure!"
That'd be fun, having cookies later to remember the trip by. Maybe Luxord would eat one too.
"I'm glad I ran into you too, it was kinda boring...and...hot...today. This was much more fun than wandering around looking for something to do."
