With a sigh, Matthew leaned back against the pew, stretching his arms out across the firm surface. "I knew, and know it," He hummed, biting his lip for a moment, "However, there was nothing I could do to stop it. He knew that if I was within a mile of the dereliction, I'd throw a wrench in the gears, so he sent me off to the most remote region he could think of to save a besieged village."
"There were alot of people I held dear involved in that massacre," He smiled wispilly, "But I truly do not believe that you were that monster. Even as you lost control of your power back there, your energy sought out the Squadron, and not my men." Trimming his bangs back out of his eyes, his held his arms open in the universal gesture for a hug.

She stared at his open arms maybe only for a moment, but the act of deciding seemed to take a lifetime. Than she dove at him, throwing her arms around him in a tight embrace. Her voice rose to a hysterical sobbing although no tears actually left her eyes,
"They were dead when I walked in, massacred,"she sobbed,
"I tried everything with my power to bring them back but nothing! There blood was everywhere!"She hugged him even tighter as if afraid if she let him go the same fate would come to him. She was just a child that had lost her innocence in the worst possible way.

Bearing the force of her tears with a tight embrace, the young Lord gently rubbed the small of Hitomi's back, humming a tune he'd thought long-forgotten in the ages of his childhood.
"You scraped it again?" Matthew sighed to the crying girl, hugging her close. With a soft laugh, licks of white fire slid out across his fingertips as he administered a little first aid to the girl's scratch.
"On a sleepless evening, I, sing, along," He hummed, rocking the girl slowly into his arms, "Tomorrow, I'll be with you, in the wi-ings of a der-eam~!"

His lilting song lulled her into drowsiness and the want of sleep was strong but she wouldn't allow herself to. Laying in his arms for a few more minutes she reluctantly pushed herself up from him embrace. Although she hadn't cried her eyes were slightly red and she looked away from his icey eyes, feeling suddenly naked and vulnerable.
"I'm sorry,"she said, her voice sounding so small even in her own ears,
"For everything and for everything that's going to happen."

"Hey, I didn't catch my rank through whining," He chuckled, "Besides, if we didn't cry once in a while, we'd probably just combust." With a yawn, the young Lord rested his head back against the pew, allowing his leaden eyes to slide closed. "Besides, you're still a spaz," He smiled, shifting his legs into a more comfortable position. Although sleeping in his greaves would leave him slightly footsore, they would be two less things to grab should the need to run come up. 'Even though I haven't heard from the Knights in a while, thse sunlight spells are poached. It'll feel alot better to have to sunlight in the morning...'

She smiled slightly at his remark and found herself gazing at him as he made himself comfortable. His silver hair fell down his shoulders in rivulets of shine. Hesistantly she reached her hand out and brushed a few strands away from his face, her fingers slightly grazing his cheek as she pushed the strands behind his ears. Leaning forward, so close that their bodies touched, she kissed his cheek delicately, afraid of what she was doing at this moment.
"Thank you,"she whispered into his ear.

"Oh sure, thank me now," He smiled, "But I bet tomorrow you're going to wake up and bite me for keeping you up all night." Sliding his arms around Hitomi's sides, Matt pulled her lithe body down to his, slipping the blanket back around them before allowing himself to relax, ready to surrender to sleep at last. 'I just hope she has the decency to go for nonessentials when she wakes up...'

His comment caused her to giggle slightly and her hand seemed to automatically go to her mouth, suprised that she'd giggled.
"Don't worry I don't bite,"she said as she decided to stop fighting against it and snuggled into his embrace,
"Well most of the time."Her eyes closed, a devilish smirk graced her face.
"And how is it going to look to your comrades when they see you like this?"she asked with a small snicker.

"They'll probably think I've had a wild night, breaking every oath in the book before finally hacking through my celebacy with a rusty knife," He replied, obviously amused by the thought, "Oh the looks on their faces..." Though he very much doubted that the Seven would return for him, it would almost be worth it just to see the looks that would spread throughout the group, and then laughing an explaination through his teeth.

"Well I wouldn't blame them,"she yawned as she snuggled deeper into the warmth of him and the blanket,
"I mean come on look at me. They wouldn't blame you if you lost control," then chuckling at the imagined looks of their faces and the fact that what she had just said about herself wasn't true at all she smiled.

"Shh," He hissed, tickling Hitomi's hips as she cuddled closer. 'The Squadron has been forced back for the first time in a decade, and she wants to spend the night flaunting herself,' He chuckled, leaning forward, and, quite purposely, nipped at the woman's ear. "I might just eat you yet!"

The small pressure on her hip caused her body to jerk slightly and her heart to thump against her chest. Yet no sound erupted from her lips; she wouldn't allow herself to give him that satisfaction. Then the n** on her ear dashed any hopes of her trying not to make a noise, the tiny traitorous 'eep' escaping her lips before she stop it.
"Remember good sir, you made an oath,"she remarked dryly, as if trying to cover up the fact she had just made a noise that usually she would of never made.

"They never said anything about cannibalism," He replied innocently, "Now let's at least try to get some sleep before I bite something more important." With a snuffed laugh, Matthew shifted his legs slightly before giving Hitomi a gentle hug, sliding his eyes closed once more. 'Predators really do get to have more fun... Maybe I should go Chaotic Evil,' He mused. Although it wasn't always easy to remain fully pure, the white angel knew that giving in to exceptions only lead to more difficult exceptions several steps before a final caving in of a moral code.

Behind her closed eyelids, she rolled her eyes although a gentle smiled had graced her face. Sinking into his embrace, much like one would sink into a comfortable bed, she shifted slightly so that it was more comfortable for both of them. Yet something still slightly bothered her although she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Remember good sir, you made an oath,"the phrase floated around in her subconscious before she realized what was bothering. That was it, he had made an oath. An oath that she was positive he wouldn't break, not even for someone he could quite possibly love.
'Not that he loves me or anything,'she thought nervously, pushing away the idea and that sudden surge of hope away from her mind,
'It just means that I have less than a chance than I thought,'she continued,
'Yet he always a big flirt despite that,'her thoughts subtley transformed into a memory of long ago.
"Matthew, stop that, it's no,"she tried to breathe in for air yet she started laughing again,
"Stop tickling me! Jeez I can't breathe!"she said between laughs and exhaled in relief as he stopped. Tears shone in her silver eyes and she tried to glare up at the smiling angel but it didn't prove very effective since there was still a wide grin on her face. A strand of her light blue hair lay in front of her eyes so she saw him through a cloud of blue,
"It's no fair when you do that you know,"she said, pouting slightly. He just grinned at her,
"Well it's not my fault your ticklish everywhere,"he replied a smirk on his face. She just stuck her tongue out at him childishly and turned her head. She was lying on her bed, papers strewn here and there beside her and on the floor. She had been trying to get some work done yet Matthew wouldn't allow that. He stood over her and chuckled,
"Gosh stop being a spaz,"he remarked and his grin got bigger as she turned her head to look at him.
"I am not a spaz,"she said glaring at him,
"I just don't like to be tickled." He nodded,
"Sure, fine fine whatever you say,"he said as if talking to a child. His eyes softened as he gently moved the strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, fingertips lightly grazing her skin. A blush soon covered her cheeks and some of her neck,
"Um Matthew?"she spoke questioning. He didn't answer her but instead his fingers lightly traced the outline of her lips. Then as if broken from a trance he blinked his eyes repeatedly then smiled charmingly at Hitomi,
"Sorry Hitomi, what were you saying?"His hand had withdrawn back to the safety of his side and she just shook her head as she sat up,
"Um nothing, don't worry about it."

Through the comfortable claws of sleep, memories and dreams perculated and twisted into the glamor of sleep's vision, forming the images of things to taunt, tease, or fear. While Matthew had never quite dreamt a single night of his life, an odd calm followed the hollow blackness that comforted his body as his mind continued to plasate that day's events.
Turning back slowly to smile at the youth, the ebony creature's spiked body still bore the remnants of shredded feathers and crimson life fluid it had ravaged from the beating hearts of its prey. He'd been surpised when his rudimentary apprentice's spells had done little more than give the creature a head shake, but quickly applied his cool mind to the situation.
Leaning forward, the entity cocked its tri-hinged legs before exploding away from the ground, trap-hinged jaw snapping open at a one-eighty degree. Eyes narrowing, the young protege flicked his dagger up into the air, catching it by the tip in a throwing grip.
Realising the err of its ways too slow, the creature gagged on black ichor as the silver knife plunged into the bowels of its black th—
"There's no way, Belial," The youth snapped, slamming his fists down on the officiate's grand desk, "You cannot commit such an act on so little evidence! That girl didn't kill those people, give me more time, and I'll fin—"
"Time? No Matthew, your time is up," Belial whirled, reaching into his desk for a blue manuscript...
Clenching his hand in sleep, the youth was surprised to feel a soft warmth quiver beneath his hand, something stiff prodding the center of his palm.
