Tessa laughed and looked over to the mage with a thoughtful smile on her face before she looked back to Jack with an amused look in her eyes.
"You don't know who he is, do you?" She shrugged, "Well, I don't enjoy proving you wrong, but he does happen to be one of the highest in Mystriel's services. Why not give him a chance once we return? Which reminds me..."
She looked about for another moment before spotting Calypso, but again addressed Jack.
"Are you ready to go, in any event?"

"I care nothing for rank, Tessa," Jack said with a sigh before nodding "I daresay that I am ready to leave," He said with a smile, shaking free all thoughts of Erathis for the present, leaving his eyes clear with happiness. "Perhaps we should slip out to the docks, knowing my mother, she probably needs the ocean to do her little feat of transportation," He suggested, his eyes looking to his mother as well. "It still feels strange, saying my mother," He murmured as if to himself.

Tessa did not move for what might have seemed an eternity. At least to her, Jack had seemed more than a little uptight about the odd mage, but while she knew chance would play out in the end, she also knew that her influence in such a manner would more than likely not work out for the best. Still Jack had made the motion to go, and she was not about to refuse it.
"She will always be your mother Jack, nothing can change that," she said calmly walking by, "Let's just go, shall we?"
With that she made her way back to the ship, her thoughts dominating her entire subconscious.

Jack fell into step behind Tessa and walked along silently, his mother next to him, looking towards the sky for quite some time. Jack watched her from time to time, before watching his wife again. Once they had made it to the docks, Calypso held out her hands, gripping Jack's hand and calmly waiting for Tessa's, her foot hanging over the water's edge.
"Just like before Tessa," Calypso said with a small smile. "Except much less rushed," Jack swallowed nervously and loosened his neckcloth, not knowing what to expect.

Tessa reached out and placed her hand tentatively within Calypso's, though for a change she had the foresight to close her eyes.
"Jack," she said quietly, "close your eyes. It might help."

Jack shuddered and took the suggestion before they were pulled into the water. Instantly they were spread out over the ocean, exhilaration finding both Jack and Calypso. It took a few moments for Calypso to catch Jack's essence and pull it to her, him floating off a bit in wonder, before she focused them to their destination. Jack crawled on the beach first, breathless with wonder, before his mother.

The beach led almost directly into the settlement beside it, and upon seeing the shabby wooden buildings Tessa's heart sank, as did her shoulders. The entire visible settlement was in ruin, but not a single trace of a village burning showed.
"What..." Tessa gasped, "what happened here?"
She shook her head and dropped to her knees. After a brief cry sounded in the surrounding woodlands her ears perked and she looked up with a face full of rage.
"This is the last thing I needed on my wedding day..." She said through gritted teeth, "Jack, I'm sorry but I can't let this stand..."

With many, many, many curses muttered under his breath, Jack glared at the village with both disgust and fury. Calypso turned her eyes towards the sand and morphed into Tia Anjez again, in case she was required to stay on land for any amount of time.
"Of course love, do as you must," Jack said with a weary sigh, looking to his mother who shrugged and looked back at the sea.

 A light among the shadows, A hope among the despairing. And yet merely the hand of another.
A small silver shimmer erupted into Ilyia, knelt down beside Tessa with a hand on her shoulder.
"Tessa, relax please..." She said calmly, "this isn't -"
She was forced back though, as Tessa took off in a dead run to the village and simply halted in sheer disbelief upon reaching it. Her appearance eased visibly.
"...Oh." She said quietly.Ilyia waved her hand over the direction of the village itself, and as if it had been queued, it seemed quite suddenly fixed and the populace was in fact, quite alive and well. The creation turned to Jack and lowered her head slightly.
"My deepest apologies. There were many a rumor spread of an attack coming to this same settlement, and we needed to take preventative action. The entirety was an illusion meant to deter any oncoming raids. Fortune smiles indeed. I apologize for my forgetfulness in lowering it though."

Jack's eyebrow raised and he chuckled, lowering it again. "So forgetfulness afflicts the higher populations to," He said with a smile. Tia again melted away to Calypso, she herself relaxing slightly as her head whipped back to regard Ilyia with a weak smile, before looking at the village. "It would work though, at keeping everything away save for a very determined Tessa," Jack said, before bowing his head, brushing the rim of his hat with a finger, and going to join Tessa. "You are alright, yes?" He asked.

"Yes... yes I am fine, now..." Tessa breathed.
"I make no claims to perfection, Jack," Ilyia explained, "even the gods have their faults. It is what we do with those faults to make up for them that is considered in the end."
She looked about for a moment and nodded respectfully to each of the others before looking back over the seas.
"I should take my leave. Unfortunately it seems my stay in existence is a long one this time, for how dreadful things seem to be elsewhere. Farewell."Tessa nearly dropped again to her knees simply to breathe, but as she all but lost her balance she kept herself back and stabilized.
"I... might need a moment though, if you don't mind..."

"Of course," Jack said, looking around at the village he too had just thought to be devoid of life. Calypso motioned him over, her standing at the edge of the village.
"I am going to leave now," She said quietly and Jack nodded. "I'll head for the Courts," She murmured, to which Jack sighed ever so slightly but nodded all the same. "It needs to be done," Then, she turned towards the ocean and slipped into the waters, leaving for the ship.

"Tessa?" A high voice called out from the crowd, "Tessa!" From amid the others, a lady in priestess' attire parted and ran up to Tessa, who by the time she had thought she might have recovered was buried in an embrace. She stumbled back once given enough room and could not for a second retain her smile.
"Mother!" She cried, "I thought you..."
She couldn't say what she had feared, though the lady gave a slight smile and turned to the seas behind the couple."I had no choice, Tessa," she explained calmly, "it is not my place to hold so casual a communion with a goddess such as you had kept asking of me." She paused for a moment to regard Jack and again smiled. "I suppose this is the man you'd thought could never exist?" She laughed and approached him with a bow, "Pardon me, sir. My name is Tyele Orinae. And, might I ask yours?" Obliteration On Cheetos:

Jack raised an eyebrow looking from Tyele to Tessa, and then back again, nearly speechless. However, after a moment or so, he regained his usual charming ways and bowed respectively. "Jack Cortez. It is a great pleasure to meet you," He said with a smile, taking a step towards Tessa. "And it is indeed a great thing that you are alive," He said, looking towards Tessa with an encouraging glance.

Tyele laughed and ushered the couple into a humble, small hut off to the side, with little to no furnishings but a quiet place all the same. The only noticeable piece was the bed at the side with a wardrobe at its foot. "I see you have been taking fine care of my daughter, Jack," she said casually, "I should thank you."
