If someone doesnt post, I'm going to start writing poetry! take that! Hey! I do write poetry!! scream but it will be bad poetry... Like sappy poetry about what Oliver would right about his nanny!...er no I mean like what Min would write about Rand....even worse....um...what Matts Ex-Mistress would write about him... What Perrin would write about Faile!!! Matt's ex-Mistress is dead so she wouldn't write a thing whee

On a unrelated topic, I was thinking about writing an essay about how Rand's marriage to three women is acctually an extended allegory for Feminist philosophy.

Well you see. Rand's bond two three distinctly different woman is an allegory for the feminist philosophy that states that opposing philosophies that are unreconcilable can both co-existantly be correct. That is they are both right at the same time. Since Rand is a central figure, he represents the masculine philosophies. Among these is the over-arching conclusion that there is only one truth. The reason he is central is because in an allegorical sense, it represents the dominence of males in the birth of philosophy. From this male-oriented subject, females began to make their appearence, challanging the male-views in such was as to remove the theory of there being one truth and suggest that there are multiple truths that can be right simultaniously. The queen lady (Elene..Elayne...some such) represents an elitest point of view. Being very much involved in politiking and the rights as a queen. SHe is a ruler and she rules her subject. This is her place. Min is an anarchist. She is largely unconcerned about the law or the leadership of people. She is also an existentialists, represented by her ability to see visions around a person that represent the eternal perfection of an object rather than the object itself. The best way to describe her is an existential individualist. The aiel, whose name also escapes me, is a utilitarian..specifically a deontolgoical one. She believes in her duty and to act in the good of her people in accordance with her duty. The right action is the action which is best for others within the bounds of their laws. The various viewpoints which are expressed in this apparent marriage allegorically symbolizes the harmony of many different view points (elitist and anarchist, for instance) in one co-existing truth.

And once again I am reminded of my annoyance that no one can take WoT (or anything else!) at face value. Yes, there's lots of Christian and Arthurian and philosophical stuff going on in WoT, and yes the Chronicles of Narnia are a direct take on Christianity, but so what? Sometimes I like to enjoy something as a world in its own right instead of drawing every parallel line I can find... Narnia, to continue that example, takes on a whole new flavor when you accept Aslan as a unique entity instead of identifying him as a representation of the Son of God. And Wheel of Time is that much more fun to me when I can see Shai'tan as something other than just a new representation of Satan, not to mention not toying around with Artur Hawkwing and Birgitte being anything other than how they're represented by the books.
All that being said, I essentially agree with Kai's analysis. This is why Min is by far my favorite of the three girls, and probably my favorite character altogether 3nodding
