"You can play the tough guy all that you want, Darcia, but you're not getting off that easily." Meyial picked up the bag with one hand, but she shook the other at Darcia. He didn't look at all well...and if he dropped dead or something, she would be very unsettled, to put it mildly! "Like it or not, you need to take care of yourself, and you just lost your primary heat source."
She shook her head, then turned and trotted back over to the little ones, noticing with relief that there were still four; even their little escape artist hadn't run off. Which was good; there was food! "Alright, little ones; your patience has paid off! We've got goodies for you, that we do." She smiled, going down on her knees and rummaging through the bag. "Shall we see what stuff we've got for our little ones?"

Once she had left Darcia looked down at the mask he had brought with him. There was something very strange about it. It seemed to have an energy of its own, and it called to him in a way. He lifted it up, placeing it close to his face, a smirk suddenly coming to his lips. "Yes... this is going to be very handy..." He chuckled dryly as his eye took on a wild glint.
His hand twitched a bit and the mask dropped from his fingers landing in his lap, his eyes loseing the dark look and filling with confusion. It was as if all the insanity buried within had come to the surface all at once when he lifted the mask. Okay, that could be a good thing.. but it was also something he would have to be wary of.
The pups stirred as Meyial came close with the food, Erdan sniffing a bit and lifting his head, still seeming wary, yet the others looking very interested in being fed.

"That's the spirit, little ones; now you don't have to try to eat my fingers anymore!" With a light laugh, Meyial drooped down into a cross legged sitting position amongst the little ones, pulling the bag along after her. "Darcia brought back some nice munchies, so you just figure out what looks tastiest to you and go for it, ok?" She smiled around at the pups, each so different; she honestly had no idea what each type would eat...and lord knows she didn't want to accidentally poison them! Best pray that they knew what they liked..."Bottom's up!" She carefully tipped the bag out on the ground, allowing its contents to spill all over....

It didn't take long for Erdan to dart forward and grab a peice of meat, moving into the shadows to chew on it. He waited till the others were all getting their food, he then abandoned the meat and darted off, stumbling a bit and trying to make his way down into the valley. Free at last!
Micah made a soft meeping sound trying to find a way to get to the food. Though the others were growing a bit, he was still just a tiny baby, and he had to wait to get fed.
Erdan moved close enough to pick at some fruits and he started eating them, shifting close to his new mother figure as he ate. The fae seemed peaceful now that he was finally getting something suitible to eat.
Darcia sat where he was, back to the cold stone wall, and mask on his bare knee. He looked up at the sky, seeing clouds in the air scudding softly about. He shrugged and looked higher, seeing the moon in the sky. Soon they would have to find shelter again, and he was fairly sure they didn't need to take the kids back into the same cave. That would likely be some of the most insane folly.

Rolling a little bit to get closer, Cobalt scrutinzed the options carefully before making an excited mew of discovery; she grabbed at a scattering of seeds, trying to cram as many into her mouth as she could. Food! And good food, at that!
Meyial smiled at the sight of three of the little ones finding food, but frowned as she saw the bug nikko just lying there. Maybe he was too small... "Well, there's no reason why that should stop anything, right Buddy?" She smiled and carefully picked up the little one on one hand, then began to rummage through the pile of food. "I really wish I knew what bug nikkos ate, but alas, we're going to have to play it by ear, ok? Just bear with me, and we'll see what we can find." She smiled at the tiny nikko, the frowned in concentration as she sifted through the foodstuffs, trying to remember what she'd seen of dragonfly behavior. "Hrm...if I remember correctly, dragonflies eat smaller bugs...you don't want to eat little bugs, do you?" She looked helplessly at the baby, as though desiring an answer; still, this would take some thought!

Micah looked at the food, giving a series of small chirping clicks and other insectile sounds as he looked down at the food. He could not see anything that really looked good to him, bugs would have been good for a real bug but what was he supposed to eat? Perhaps leaves and other green food? It was all that really seemed to be in the pile of food that was not being eaten by someone else.
Darcia got to his feet, the mask being hidden away in a rocky alcove as he carefully made his way to where the pups were being tended. When he was back in sight he did a count, blinking as he came up one pup short. "One.. is gone.."

"Ah, so you want to take a taste of that, eh? Can't say that green stuff is very appatizing to me, but you're entitled to your own personal preferences, I suppose." Meyial chuckled, picking up a large lettuce leaf and offering it to the baby in her hand. It might be a bit much for him...heck, it could double as a blanket! But he seemed to be interested, so why not? "Missing one what now?" Darcia's words barely seemed to register with her, she was so keen on seeing if Micah would eat the offering or not. And already she was mentally noting the other green things available, preparing a contingency plan...

Micah bit into the lettace, but did not much else to it, spitting out the little he had and looking down at the other green things, looking for something a bit more leaf or grass like. Having no vocal skills was a bit of a downfall to the infant.
"A child." Darcia said softly, again glanceing at the remaining ones. "We had one more than this here a while ago." He pointed to the babies. "Two tiny ones, and two larger I believe." Now he was noticeing who was gone. "The one that looked hurt seems to be missing." He sighed and slid down to lean on the face of the rock, his hands going to his hair.

Ok, obviously that wasn't going to work; he must not be a lettuce baby. So, on to attempt two! Meyial rummaged once again, then offered the baby a large grass spear. Maybe he'd like that better? "Really, that's odd; maybe we misplaced one of th-MISSING?" The actuality of what Darcia was saying finally managed to penetrate the dragonfly-filled mind, and its effect on Meyial was instantaneous. She set down the baby and looked around wildly, counting for herself and only hitting three...no matter how many times she counted, it was only three. "No, he must have crawled off or something. This is terrible!" Terrible wasn't even the half of it; they'd failed the little one that they'd tried so hard to help. Part of her just wanted to break down and cry, but the other part...
"Well, what are you just sitting there for, then? We have to track him down! He's only a baby, he can't have gotten far yet!" She darted over to Darcia, taking him by one wrist and pulling at him, trying to get him up. Forgotten was his recent morphing, the fact that he was unclothed, the fact that there were other babies...they needed to find the missing one, and soon!

Darcia blinked as he was grabbed by the arm, a string of comments coming from him as he tried to make Mey calm down. "Mey.. there are other babies.. and they.. stop it.. please I will look just.. someone has to stay with them." He groaned and rubbed his head as he stagged behind her not sure what she had planned but certain that if they didn't start thinking clearly they would lose the other three to something wild. Nikko were not the only things that were able to wander the mountains.
Onyx eyes peered from the darkness, watching the three small morsals and purring. The wild hunting cat was hungry and they would make a lovely snack... well two of them one.. one would be something of a appetizer.

"Right, right..." Meyial rubbed her temples with closed eyes; she'd just gone totally unreasonable there. Darcia's words made sense...mostly. "That sounds good, but with one change, Darcia; I'll go look for him, you stay and watch these three. You're new to this stage, naked, and not well at all...well, at least not well enough to hunt around for a sneaky little baby. These three are less subversive; you keep an eye on them, and I'll hunt around for our Houdini." She gave his hand a pat, then without even waiting for a reply had vanished into the surrounding underbrush, looking for signs of their recently departed child.

And so Darcia found himself left alone with the babies, watching them all eat. He sighed and shifted the kids around so they were all close to him, not yet aware of the dark eyed being watching them from somewhere. He knew he would do all that he could to protect the kids, but he didn't know why he was being left with them. Sighing he pet the babies and shifted so that he was sitting cross legged.
The onyx eyed creature shifted, noticeing the elder being with the young ones. It too seemed like it would make a fitting meal. The hungry feline moved lower, sniffing the air and prepareing to hunt.

Although the territory was unfamiliar, it wasn't the first time that Meyial had traversed wilderness. Still, she twitched everytime a branch or twig or thornbush scraped her leg or tangled in her hair. But at the same time...those were small annoyances. "Little one! Where have you gotten to?" She called out softly, wishing that the missing pup would respond or come to her. But really, why would he? This would be so much easier if he had a name...a name that they knew, anyway. After all, Little One? Still, it sounded better than "Baby", at least to her.
She went over all those absurd little details in her head at the same time that she was sorking through the dense underbrush of the forest. It was certainly a good time of year for low-lying greenery...and an even better time for a small body to disapear unseen. But to give up that easily? Not her!

((Putting it here, just because it seems appropriate...)) Steal Darcia chuckled as he watched the kids eating. His eyes straying to the femme that he now saw as his partner. He chuckled softly and placed one hand on her arm. "SO what do we have on the schedual after this. I know that there is always some kind of work to be done, and I wish to be as much help as possible in doing it." He looked at all the kids, watching Micah trying to fly. "You may want to keep a hand on that one, he looks ready to take off." "Or else get him a little harness and leash to keep him nearby! It's good for pups to stretch their wings a bit, but young pups don't have enough wing strength to support their weight at this stage." Mey chuckled, but took the point, reaching out to snag the dragonfly with two fingers. "Careful, buddy; you're not quite ready to go journeying just yet." She gave Darcia a smile at the touch on her arm, and a wider grin at the comment; he hadn't bathed the pups yet to her knowledge, and the image was an amusing one. "Well, it's about time for doing the washing; some laundry needs doing, and the babies need baths. Just because we're out in the wilderness is no excuse for being untidieness." She adopted a prim look; as far as she was concerned, cleanliness was next to godliness.

Darcia rolled his eyes in mock suffering. "Ugh, batheing." It was evident that he wasn't serious. Even in his normal form he was really clean, he didn't tollerate one stinking up his caves either. "So, you want me to take the kids down to get cleaned?" He looked at the children. Tylan all sticky, and Micah still trying to fly, even being held in the soft grip. The tiny bat didn't seem all that interested in anything but noseing against the peach trying to break the rough skin. "I think I can manage."
