It was in the Guilds Forum. Organizations/Military-Based Guilds Forum, it wasn't a "personal thread" because it wasn't just some random posting within the Spam forum or other such thing that I'd call a "personal thread." Why call it what it was not?

I'm off to bed. I don't want to start babbling like I did the night before. ninja What? I didn't say anything... In anycase, a quote of myself seems in order for something directed at Kudos wink A random anti-BS speech by me whee If the BS can exist seperate from this kind of RPing, it would be much better and, likely, go over much more smoothly. I don't like the idea of an "all powerful" BS because of two very important reasons. 1) All BS favor those who are on more often or have larger groups of friends. This causes a seeming favoritism (though not actual or real) towards n00bs and/or those with "no life" outside of Gaia. 2) It does not favor creativeness in character creation, skill use, or strategy. It becomes a system where "understanding the stats" is the central theme. You'll see a bored rhetoric of "best" rather than "favorite". How can a BS be favored by any real RPer? There is absolutely no way to impliment an absolutely unique system for thousands of users without creating a program that must be either purchased and installed or downloaded and installed. The best tabletop and video game RPs are based off complex rules, skills, and alterable variables. DnD is popular because no two characters are ever the same. You get to choose what skills your PC has as s/he grows, and there things have grown so much that Elite and Prestige classes, feats, skills, and races have had to be added to ensure boredom does not set in. It also streches across tens, if not over a hundred or hundreds, of books as well as millions of players. Final Fantasy is popular because, especially now adays, you can build a character who is strong and special because you mix and match skills from seemingly mismatched classes. You are rewarded for creativity as your characters grow strong. You see consequences for poor selection when your character's skills just don't hold a candle. I could easily go on, but I think I've made my point -- even if you don't agree. I could easily come up with rules and regulations to build a good RPS (Role-Playing System) because that's what players really want. A BS is boring, easy code that can be stored on a single computer and save administrar's on cost and relation. A RPS will force a writing of code as well as server space exclussively for downloading of the system. It would also require the taking of comments and suggestions from players as to add more diversity in class, race, skill, vehicle, feature, statistic, body, level, item, weapon, armor, accessory, and everything else one could think of. In other words, a BS is a scape goat that, once implimented, will take responsibilty off of the administration and moderation staff. It is the easy way out as it instantly elliminates many problems and creates a void between those who care (those of us against it) and those who are lazy (those who are "b477l3 sys73m ish l337" or really don't care). Everything I have seen has pointed to these two types of individuals on Gaia. By the way, I can't type l337 or 1337, so don't ask me why I got that so wrong. I really could care less about the BS if it becomes the "end all be all" of Gaian Role-Playing. It's boring and, quite frankly, lazy. Um... Just so you know...when I sit and write something that long...I tend to get overly dramatic at points ninja It expresses how I feel about the whole thing, adequately, though ^_^ I see many more negative aspects to it, but I left it at that for the sake of everybody's eyes. THEIR EYES I TELL YOU!!

Just for clarification I wasn't talking about the BS on Gaia. Tendrils of Chaos (ToC) is Star Wars RPG using the d20 system put of for the game by Wizards of the Coast. What I've done is altered the system to work on a post based forum like Gaia. What this allows me to do is run a game from India with people back home, and also tap a wide resource of potential players who know the d20 system already.
Its an experiment, and has only been running for just over two weeks, so I'm still tweaking it. Its not that I think d20 is better than a fully post based RP, its just different and requires a different style of roleplay. I must admit, I'm really liking how the two systems have melded together.
Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up (if there was anything to clear up in the first place) xp
PS - its 3 pm for me so most of you are sleeping, and since Jcd decided to bump everything up my nice post I had planned no longer works...*sob*
