Roirt had to give the boy credit for trying to argue his point, even if that point was making little sense. Obviously this psion didn't completely understand that whether Roirt told him or not, he'd be learning the prophecy eventually. Oh well, he sighed, takes all kinds to make the world, I guess.
Nodding his head, Roirt reflected upon what he had discovered. Of course, the entire scope of the prophecy was beyond even him - well beyond him - but that wouldn't exactly matter right now. What mattered was what he would say at this very moment. "As you may know, the Draconic Prophecy is just that - a prophecy. What you may not know is that it tells the woven tale of every being that has ever influenced the multiverse, King Galifar I for example; every being that influences it presently, a prime example being you or myself; and every being that will ever come to influence it. It is a great mosaic with every person involved, for every person is needed in order to see the entire design that has been lain down for us by the Creator and the Destroyer.
"More importantly, it will tell us just what lies waiting in your near future. With this part I am most familiar, seeing as it is a kind of...recurring theme in the prophecy. To put it simply for you, this is what I have seen:
Champions are called forth, setting in motion the gears of revolution. One among them proves unworthy, his calling far from met; forever to live in the abyss. Another is bound to the taint of betrayal, once and forevermore condemned. Closest of friends, two among the rest, each born to take the life of the other. The ultimate sacrifice of one serves no purpose. The last shall be alone to rise, this legend of champions born on their lips."

"Ivellios had said how we were champions, but nothing about revolution... It doesn't seem as though any revolution is coming from our actions, though maybe that has to do with Thanatos and his actions..." Shadow wondered aloud in Roirt's mind. "As for the part about the friends, it must be - wait, it's either Eclipse and Will, or Raithe and Ashen. Not too sure... but likely the latter. And for the last too rise, well, I'll find that out when it happens." Deciding to think of the other part later Shadow nodded. "Is that all or is there more to it?"

So it is true. The kid really wouldn't pick up on the Creator and the Destroyer. Good thing... Roirt decided to finish up his little lesson. "Look kid, the Prophecy is absolute. Everything in all the multiverse abides by it - although the most anyone's been able to see only concerns Eberron. It can't be changed, so don't try to. And that, my friend, just about sums it all up. Any questions? You best be hurrying it up there, someone in the library needs your help." Roirt winked at the psion. How he loved the air of mystery he could achieve with his foreknowledge.

It would be back to the library soon. But he would have thought there would be more, it just seemed like there should be... "Is there any more to it? Anything more specific? It jsut seems, incomplete..."

So it seemed the boy really was dense after all. "Of course there's more, there's always more! The Prophecy hasn't even been fully written yet, not to mention how little anyone on Khorvaire can translate of it. You were lucky to find me, because I know more than most. But trust me when I say that I've told you all of the Prophecy I know concerning you and your companions. So, in that regard, there is nothing else. Forgive me." Roirt bowed his head, more because it seemed appropriate than because it was necessary.

Shadow shook his head, he knew there would be more, he just wanted to know if this guy knew it... "I knew there was more, I had only wanted to know if you knew more of us... Now one more question and I'll leave, do you know anything about men made of maggots?"

The old historian's eyes lit up. "Oh, you mean Worms that Walk? That's the name coined for them, anyway. Great spellcasters that have passed beyond the grave, their former spirits devoured by the maggots and worms that gather by the thousands at their tombs, drawn by the immense magical power left untapped at their time of death. Well yes, I know a bit about them. Few ever attain such a level of afterlife - normally if they have some goal left unfinished...Why do you ask?" The curiosity in his voice was evident, Roirt's stare boring into Shadow's own eyes.

Shadow took the stare and held it, not the hardest thing to do. "I'm guessing you don't know about Thanatos? He's the cause of all this, the incident in Flamekeep and the explosion here. He's one of those, Worms that Walk. I've tryed to kill him but some maggots must have escaped. He seems bent on vengeance for something, I'm not quite sure why..."

"Thanatos, you say? Odd he should have such a name...do you know it's origins? No, of course you don't. Forgive me, Shadow, but I don't know anything about this 'terrorist'. Although, my advice would be to consult his brother. He'll know more than I do." Roirt stood from the table, the chair sliding back behind him. "I've enjoyed this talk, Shadow. Now, if you'll excuse me." He gave a polite nod, then headed up the stairs. If his guess was right, then the Archsages would be acting out right about now. And it'd be best for him not to get involved.

Well, at least I learned of the prophecy. Now, I'm guessing where I have to go is where my comrades are. A quick scrying and a quick teleportation and Shadow was there, standing near Raithe. Eclipse was standing nearby and there was some new person, with a cat. Was this why he was supposed to be here? Or maybe, looking up Shadow grimaced, it was because of that corpse... or the pile of burning bodies under it. Best way to solve it would be to get the corpse down though, that way they might be able to figure it out.

Leontynne blinked at the man as he landed on the ground from above, then answered the female.
"I was curious. How does she remain suspended?" She gazed on intently at the woman's body. She couldn't take her eyes off of the spilled organs. She'd never seen the inside of a human being before.

Examining the burning bodies, Raithe only partially listened to woman speak, and she gave no signs to show she knew Shadow had joined them. Knowing she could do nothing to put out the flames on this floor, Raithe decided she would have to wait for her partner to join them, but that would take so long....
~~~
Ashen had finished putting out another floor, but when he went to go to the next lower one, he found he didn't have the energy for it. He had done all he could, and it wasn't enough. Why are there no other sorcerers and wizards here to help put out the fire? He wondered absently. Surely there was no lacking of them in such a large city, so why were they not here helping?
Knowing he couldn't do anymore, Ashen decided to go to the ground floor and see what was going on. It would give him a chance to replenish his energies at the same time. Instead of going down the center of the tower like Raithe had, Ashen jumped through one of the windows on the floor and dove down, his wings tucked close to his body. When it looked like he was about to crash into the ground, Ashen spread his massive leathery wings, catching the air under them, and slowing him enough so that he landed softly on the road, by dragon standards, anyways. Now he just had to find the others.
Shadow quickly answered the newcomer's question. "Probably wires, maybe magic. Only one way to find out."
Drawing one of his dirks he tossed it in the air, catching it with telekinesis. If there were wires, he should be able to cut through them fairly easily with it. If not, hopefully his dirk wouldn't be damaged. And as such he moved it up to where he figured any wires would be, prepared to start cutting.
Before even Shadow could catch the dirk telekinetically, it caught on one of the dozens of invisible wires. The slight tug was unnoticeable, and non-damaging to the dirk itself. In fact, the only evidence any connection had taken place at all, if one should call it evidence at all, was that there was a further deluge of blood and entrails from the suspended figure of royalty. Despite this, the dirk's movement was unhindered, allowing Shadow to move it quite easily, and thus able to cut them, should he so desire.
A tanned-skin man with black hair stood from his dark corner in the left-hand room of the first floor's side corridor. Earlier, a half-elf had come in and hadn't seemed to notice him. A good thing, concerning that the black haired man had been invisible anyway.
Stepping through the melted door, the man shed both disguises: first, he once more became visible. Second, his black hair and eyes that seemed to smile melted away into cold steel; his commoner's clothes were replaced by leather and hide, two tall greatswords materializing on his back.
Once more back in his normal form, Ivellios made his way into the lobby. From there, he would watch the events above unfold.
