A soft thud sounded as a small dagger stuck in the ground. A hand reached down to grab it, pulling it from the earth. The hand belonged to Lev, one of the four princes of Mael. He was sent to marry some girl from Daeti, Ashling it was. He personally did not care much about this situation. Comes with the job. he thought rather nonchalantly. He sheathed the blade and began to walk towards the castle. The nail he had stuck in his shoe from boredome sounding a soft clack that rang through the air.

Avel looked up from the book she was engrossed in. She glanced around the library slightly for the noise that she heard, having found it earlier that day and hadn't left it since. She stood and looked out of the second-story window to see a young man walking down the path to the castle. She closed the book quickly, a silk bookmark keeping her place as she set it down on the chair she had been sitting in.
She walked down the hall and down the stairs, straightening her dress and hair as she went. She finally reached the door and pulled it open with some difficulty. "Hello, sir," she said to him as he reached the door, "You are one of the princes here from Mael, yes?"

Nika had heard the talking and peeked around the corner. She saw Avel welcoming the newcomer.
Must be another Prince. She thought. For some reason she felt uneasy around him.

Lev brushed his hair from his face, nodding to the woman. "Yes, I am." he said calmly, scratching his head softly. He looked up to the sky, watching as a cloud slowly passed across the sky. In the distance, a dark cloud was forming. He watched as it very slowly made it's way towards them. "Seems it's going to rain." he commented, smiling to her.

Avel smiled lightly back and said, "In that case, won't you come in? We wouldn't want you to stand outside in a storm..." She bowed and stood back to let the young man in, glancing up at the clouds with a nervous look. She'd never particularly liked storms, but she'd never told anyone that wasn't close to her.

((yeah it's a night class runs from 5:30-10:30, but he usually lets us out around 830/9 so it's not too horrible)) He took a bite of the apple as he draped his cloak over a lower branch, then he slumped down next to the tree leaning against it looking at her as he ate the apple. "So do you think all these arranged marriages will really help?"

Nika sneered at the man from her spot around the corner. She had shrunk behind a candlelabra so no one could see her. She turned around rapidly and darted off down the corridor. She ran to her bedroom. She went inside and slammed the door, jumping up on her bed, sighing.
"What's wrong, Nika?"
She gasped.
"Father! What on EARTH are you doing in here? How'd--when'd--"
"Nika, it's alright. Listen to me, you have to go through with this marriage. Every Prince and Princess must do so. Would you risk a war because of your selfishness?"
"You act like I have no choice, Father. You're forgetting my free will. What if I don't WANT to be a Princess? God damn it all... You raise me to be a man and yet now I must suffer as some Prince's bride. I will not stand for it."
"Well just be married to him and do as you wish. Just don't kill him." He laughed. "You might actually get along."
"As IF." Nika shouted in protest. "He acts like a child. I don't have time for this. I'm not going to babysit a Prince."
"Nika...you were always a free spirit. Well try your best. I must return home. Do not forget, you will have a new mother soon. I am to be wed myself in a month's time. Say hello to Ashling for me." He opened the door and disappeared down the corridor.
Nika threw her head against her pillow in a fit of rage.

A young servant walks along the corridor humming. He'd done his chores for the morning and was off for the afternoon. He saw the older man leaving the room and ducked down a hall, he technically wasn't allowed to be up in the upper corridors. He waited til the older man passed by and smiled He must have left his room He rubbed his hands together I wonder if there's anything interesting to be found Eric often liked to sneak around the dignitaries rooms when they were out and aout in hopes of finding out information to be relayed to 'the boys' later to earn him a bit of drinking money. He quietly went down the hall and into the bedroom silently shutting the door behind him, not noticing the girl on the bed.

"Father?" She asked, turning around. "WHAA--you're not Father! Who are you?!" She jumped off her bed, unsheathing her sword.

"Oh sorry ma'am. I'm just a humble servant of the palace I saw the gentleman leave and was instructed to check for dishes in his quarters once he'd left so as not to disturb him." He had a horrible habit of lieing, but he wasn't exactly horrible at it. He stood there with his hands humbly in front of him. He was wearing a decent uniform looking to be one of a messanger or delivery boy of some sorts. "They didn't tell me that his daughter would be in. I'm dreadfully sorry if I interrupted your nap."

Nika scratched her head a bit. Relieved, she sheathed her sword.
"Oh..." She began, "...well my father isn't staying here. He just paid me a visit I suppose." She raised an eyebrow at him.
Because she wasn't as snooty as her father, she decided to tell him her name.
"I'm Nika, by the way. And you are?"

He bowed his head in the traditional servant manner "Eric M'lady it is a pleasure to meet you." When he straightened, his bright green eyes scanned the room then returned to hers. He looked to be about 19, he was fairly well built from working most the time. He wasn't graced with olive skin, instead had a very fair complexion and strawberry blonde and slightly shaggy hair. His uniform fit him nicely and the small green brooch at his neck accented his eyes. His cheeks were dotted with a few freckles. He stood about 5'8". "Is there a better time when I should return?"
