Adeska smiled weakly in appreciation before running a hand through her hair with a sigh. She swung her legs slightly, yearning for a walk suddenly. "I think I might go ashore, do you want to join me? Miguel told me of the safer parts in the Courts. It seems he has been here before," Adeska said, looking back to Mr. Porter with a small smile, barely noticeable. Around deck the lanterns were being lit, casting yellow candle light around the deck.

"Oh, of course," Vanessa gave a slight giggle, "I love aimless travel on land."
Miguel, Adeska had said... who was Miguel? She shrugged away her curiosity and rose to her feet. She offered her hand to Adeska with a small yet simple smile.
"I'll admit I'm not familiar with the landscape, though..." she added weakly with a hint of shame.

Adeska giggled lightly, going to the ramp down to the dock and beginning to head down the ramp. "I'm sure it will be fine, what is the worst that could happen?" She asked, calling up to Vanessa. She wished for something at least to do, being trapped aboard a ship had gotten her restless. Even if trouble found them, she welcomed it. Something to do was better than nothing at all.

Vanessa pinched her lips together and stood silently, contemplating giving her typical answer, but inwardly decided not to scar the poor girl with her realistically skeptical views. "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say this much; the worst that is liable to happen is a lot less bad than the worst that could happen. You learn that after a while in traveling land. But, the good news is - well. You'll see if anything bad happens."
She tilted her head off to the shore and made her way to the front rim of the ship to get off. "Come on," she called back cheerily.
"I wonder how she does it..." Ferathi remarked from the back, near to the cabin.
"Can't complain though," Cassandra replied, "Vanessa's always needed new company. It'll do her a nice break for a change."

Adeska followed Vanessa excitedly and her feet bounded hollowly on the dock as she raced to the shore, before she attempted to control her more childish nature, especially around the crewmen still on the docks. Her bare feet touched the sand softly, now at a very measured pace, and Adeska looked around with a smile. The wind ruffled her hair and clothes while the girl thought about where to go. She should have asked Miguel to come, he would have wanted to, but she feared he would have to look over the ship.

"Now, let's see..." Vanessa dropped to a crouch out of sight, placing her hand firmly against the ground with a slight smile. "There seems to be a lot more action down to the left, so..." She stood up and started angling down a path to the right, signaling for Adeska to come along with her. "Come on."
She kept a watchful eye out though. Unfamiliar territory could only be figured so well on a first walk - and the land about her was certainly unfamiliar to her.

"So, have you known Jack very long?" Adeska asked after catching up with Vanessa and holding silence for a few moments, drinking in all that was around them. As she waited for her answer, the girl looked around, trying to feel everything at once. This of course was impossible, so she settled for looking around and concentrating only on parts of it at one time.

"Known?" Vanessa laughed slightly, "I wouldn't say so, no. To be honest I wouldn't say I've known him at all... The first time I met him I was just part of a unit supporting Tessa, not honestly caring much for him. The second time I think I can safely say I was in it just as much to keep Tessa alive as to save his ship from a certain goddess of a very vengeful Light. I didn't live through that one, actually."
She paused for a moment in thought, figuring just how odd it must be to take an admission that you'd died, at least in comparison to admitting it. She came up inconclusive, and simply continued on.

Adeska frowned slightly and fell silent in thought. She had hoped to learn more about her half brother through Vanessa, but that was apparently not the case. Furthermore, she almost couldn't disregard Vanessa still being alive, but then again, she had been through Hell and Death and here she walked. She wasn't sure of Vanessa's opinion of Jack either, so Adeska thought it best to drop the subject. Still though, she couldn't help wanting to start some form of a conversation. "What is Tessa like then? I can't say our short time that I have spoken with her has helped me learn of her any,"

Vanessa paused for a moment, pondering now where to begin. "Tessa, well... She's a kind heart, to be sure. Darn gifted fighter but always with a soft spot... literally in everything she tries as hard to find every angle to look at the situation as she does anything else. It leaves her prone to a lot more pain than she should have to deal with, and she takes it all and then some." She laughed softly, counting oddly on four fingers for several moments, always one-to-two but in differing patterns before she smiled.
"Call it a circle if you will. I've always looked up to Tessa for her immense wisdom, but she's taken more to Cassandra to fill that hole in her focus. Cassandra's looked up to Ferathi, being the figurehead and our leader, so on and so forth but even she loses faith, and it comes back around in the end."

I was possessed.
"It must be nice, to be in something like your Sisterhood," Adeska said with a smile. "To be able to rely on others like you four do," She added after a moment, looking up to the sky, counting stars as she strolled along. After she had lost track the third time she looked back down to the path along which she was walking and thought idly in silence. She couldn't help but feel partially alone in the grand scheme of things...her mother hardly knew her, and Adeska could see the pain in her eyes whenever Calypso looked at her, Jack she could see a hint of mistrust in his eyes still and Miguel...she loved him. She loved him, but there was still fear in his eyes, even if it was clever to hide within his emotions towards her.

"It certainly helps that it fell into place as it did, but almost everyone has a group of friends or family as close as the Sisterhood..." Vanessa paused in her tracks, considering her own subconscious choice of words. She rest a hand on the nearest tree and turned to look Adeska in the eye, her eyes serious despite the lingering sadness the topic had brought her. "I know this isn't easy to hear, but when it comes down to it, the four of us each had our own very poor ties to family to make up for. My sister, Serina... well, I'll be honest. She'll probably never know but she's not my sister at all. Tessa's brother, Randall; the two got along like a volcano that just had a detonation of everything in it. She hated him, if I can even think to put it that way. Cassandra hides it well enough, but I know she has more than a few problems with her parents. Probably better to ask Tessa or Ferathi about that one, and Ferathi? She still puzzles me. Her parents died very shortly after she was born, slaughtered in a raid. When she was found and taken in, it didn't even take her long to just spread her wings and go out on her own."
She paused for a moment to let it sink in. As much as she loathed bringing up the topic, it was something that needed to be said, especially considering where Adeska had landed herself in comparison - not to mention since Tessa was going to be out of reach for quite a substantial time... "The good news though, is that you've got the Duchess. You would not believe how skeptical Tessa was of Jack if she wasn't lying to me, but look how they ended up. You've got to have some faith, alright? It'll sort out eventually, I promise."

Adeska looked down with a sigh. "Wonderful, I have a ship." She said before turning back towards the Duchess and walking slowly towards it. "We had best be getting back, I hope Calypso returns soon." She said before reflecting on what Vanessa had said and pausing for a moment. "I think you are wrong though. Merely because you aren't related to your sister does not mean that you are any less her sister. It is the manner of which you love her," The girl said before continuing on her way, deep in thought.

"Oh, don't get me wrong," Vanessa laughed softly, "As much as the subject of how I got to think of her as a sister troubles me, she's still family to me in the end. Now that Tessa's gone I may just have to visit her... and I do miss her quite a bit. Hell, I don't even know what to think anymore. These days, now that Illumine is... mostly... overwith, it all just blurs together. Still I guess I shouldn't complain; what's done is done, right?"

"Indeed," Adeska answered after a moment, pulling herself out of thought. She soon slipped back into it though until she reached the Duchess. Once aboard she was delighted to see her mother boarding soon after, although in great haste. Adeska was offered a brief sharp smile, one pained and made in haste before the goddess breezed by.
Calypso entered the cabin, easily unlocking it with an issue of water from her fingers and stood before the bed, looking upon Tessa before rousing the girl by gently shaking her shoulder, Calypso's eyes urgent.
