Personality: Deunan is rash, brisk, and very rough around the edges. She loses her testiness around her partner, unless something's wrong concerning him. She has quite the short fuse, temper-wise, and it doesn't take much to push her over the edge. If she lashes out, generally you're as good as dead, literally or figuratively, depending on who you are.
She's good at what she does; proud and confident in her combative skills, though she doesn't verbally rub it in...most times.
She has no trust for anyone, save for her partner Briareos and a select few others. As a result she never, ever goes anywhere without a weapon...or multiple weapons. As such, she also doesn't work or play well with others on a team, though she can if need-be, preferring either to fly solo or with Briareos.
Past: Being born into the Knute family had both advantages and disadvantages. Deunan, from a young age, was subjected to them all. And her father, Carl Knute, taught her the skills she would need to survive any situation with from the start of her life. When she was a young teenager, her father assigned one of the men from his Special Security Forces team to her. Both had assumed it was a babysitting task. Deunan felt she didn't need to be watched over. Briareos didn't want to have to be partnered with a rookie-kid.
Deunan strove to prove him wrong; that she was quite capable of pulling her own weight.
Deunan softened. Briareos opened up. Both grew.
They'd since become inseparable. It's rare either of them can be seen without the other. Just over three years ago, an ESWAT mission had separated the two. They were put into two separate groups, and planted at completely opposite ends of the city. Everything was going as smooth as it could, given the volatile nature of their situation, when a non-nuclear bomb was dropped right near Briareos's position. He lost his human body, and was placed into the Hecatonchires Cyborg System. Deunan was injured in another blast, but nowhere near as bad as her partner. She had turned from her group when her instincts screamed at her, and the flare of the bomb was seen. She had been making her way to the position when another blast nearby caught her unawares.
By the time she had made it to the other side of the ruined city, Briareos had long-since been taken away, and there was no sign of the group. While she didn't give him up for dead, she did leave the city with no word to ESWAT. ESWAT presumed she was MIA/KIC, and informed Briareos when he was coherent once more, giving him her dogtags they had recovered from the city.
A year and a half after searching, Deunan returned to ESWAT to be informed that Briareos was alive and searching for her. She left despite their threats, stubbornly determined to find him. Another year and a half later, Deunan arrives at the shop...little does she know her partner is there, waiting just a couple more days before moving on...
Other: Deunan was trained to be ambidextrous, along with her partner, given them an edge in combat.
