The following is as accurate as the police could figure.
1145A - Doruinn, fyerdrake, Switters and Sky (the dog) load into the car for some fresh air and errand-running.
0210P - Neighbors see two generic guys run out of the building, hop into a green Monte Carlo and haul a** out of the apartment complex parking lot.
0330P - Dory, fyer, Switt and Sky arrive to find the door open, the place torn up and the HDTV, XBOX 360, video games, swords, camera, Zune, and other valuable shiznit stuffed into a box and seemingly ready to load into a car.
0415P - Cops arrive, interview everyone including neighbors who say the two guys looked like they had been spooked by something and were in a hurry, but empty handed.
0420P - Neighbor who gave his statement leaves.
0421P - Neighbor backs into police car. Everyone has to wait for a sergeant to show up and it takes close to an hour to finish that particular investigation.
0500P - Police fingerprint and swab everything, including Switt / fyer / Dory. Sky is not swabbed, as apparently she was not a suspect.
0600P - Police finally leave. Switters writes up entire day on Gaia.

Im glad nothing was taken surprised wonder what spooked em though, maybe there is a protective 'ghost' who resides in either the entire apartment building or just the apartment Dory and Fyer have and scared away the bad guys surprised

I wonder what could have scared them off like that? Perhaps another burglar was trying to brake in through the back, they guys inside thought it was the owners coming in the back and they burglar at the back thought the ones on the in side where the owners! They spooked each other, thus your stuff is safe! That would be pretty lucky and coincidental. I would keep some one at your apartment for awhile because they will probably try it again.

What it sounds like is they saw people coming home to the apartment and figured they'd attract less attention walking out empty handed. Multiple neighbors said they saw them leave as soon as one guy came in the front door.

That's crazy. They probably were afraid the owners were coming back. Most criminals are not pros at it. Weird, though.

The guys they sent to change the locks - who now know what key to use for the apartment - fit the descriptions the witnesses gave yesterday.
Further updates as events warrant.

We had them changed but there's the possibility that they'd send the same guys. Either way the scary thing is there isn't really a way to keep them from making spare keys. All they'd have to do is say hey I need key to so such and such and go spend a dollar or two and get a couple copies.
