Hello, I'm RenkonNairu and I have just joined this guild so I figured I might as well introduce myself. ^^

Renkon is the Japanese word for the root of the lotus plant. It is a vegetable usually eaten picked or served in salads but is can also be stir-fryed. It has a similar flavor to waterchesnuts but a different texture.

Nairu has no meaning. I made it up while practicing my katekana.

I would say I like anime but that's to general. I don't even have a favorite genre in anime to tell you. I just like selected titles from each genre (even the fringe ones).

I am not above reading kids/young adult books to spite my age and neither am I above watching children's cartoons, so be forewarned: I just might be starting some topics comparing Cedric's character from the cartoon to his character in the graphic novel (W.I.T.C.H.).

That's about it for now. ^^

Hello there!

Ah, have you had lotus plant roots?
If you have, I would like to know what kind of taste they have, sweet bitter spicy....

My only familiarity with the lotus plant is Greek mythology's portrayal of lotus-eaters to be perpetually eating them making it their reason for living.

Otherwise I've never had any contact with a lotus plant.

I haven't eaten them raw just prepared the three ways mentioned in my first post. Personally, I prefer them stir-fryed with other vegetables. And they taste like water chesnuts but have an odd texture to them.

Ah, where do you usually get them from?

Or I guess, where are you from? That might be more of a help to how I could come into contact with it. I live in a pretty cultural place so maybe I could find a restaurant that would specialize in food of that particular place.

I live on the western coast of the United States and I usually get mine from a grocery store called "Mitsuwa" that specializes in Asian produce. (They also have a nice book store where I get allot of my Japanese manga, too. ^^)

Ah alright, I'll live on the north eastern coast of the US. I shall look around to see what I find.
