Sommer rolled onto his side as Robin began to pull Rodanza up, helping to slide her body forward and onto more solid ground. As soon as he was able, he stuck one of his forelegs out and and hooked it around one of her back legs and began to shove her towards Robin and safer ground.
"As..as soon as you can Rodanza.." He panted, giving her another shove towards Robin. "P..push with your back legs or..or stand up and move..."
Sommer closed his eyes and gave her another shove, feeling her body glide over his towards safer ground, at what felt like a alarmingly slow pace, but felt her back knees starting to bump up against his body. Any second now she should be able to put her back feet onto something and push forward and up.
Damn it this was all his fault AGAIN! He really was nothing but bad luck and ruin on four feet. Tears leaked out of his eyes as he struggled to get Rodanza back on firm ground.

Rodanza managed to get her back legs back on the rock, scrambling up and collapsing to the ground as her legs folded weakly under her, panting, her boys falling with her in a muddy pile.
She was trembling slightly, a bit shaken from what had just happened. She nuzzled them both, sniffling softly.
"S-sommer? Are you okay?," she asked softly, more worried about him.

Sommer lays in a muddy heap with his two loves and sighs. The rain begins to pour harder on top of them all, starting to wash away the grime that coats all three of them. He sighs heavily, thankful they're all three safe.
"We..should find a little shelter.." he says quietly. "I won't be able to leave zis plaze in ze dark.." His vision and depth perception was reduced when his lame eye finally succumbed to it's injuries and part of the world sank into a inky blankness. Traveling at night would be risky. Traveling at night, moonless, in the rain, on slick stones and mud was asking for death.

Panting hard from relief, Robin lays still with the two of them for a short time, he nuzzle Rodanza in return to comfort her, but before he even attempts to stand and address the immediate problems at hand (or hoof) he leans over and bites Sommer on the ear to get his attention.
"Our hind and I have both been searching for you, all day, we have both been worried sick for your safety, for days. I think that it is safe to say that both of us would take your best interests to heart, but we would also like an answer, dear hart. Perhaps many answers, but for now, just the one." he presses his forehead firmly against the flutter male's for emphasis, "Are you out of your mind?" Robin sighed softly.
He spoke to Rodanza quickly, "Since I have not been here before I do not know this place, can you remember an area that will shelter all of us, or at least this one," indicating Sommer, "and yourself? Perhaps close by?" Even if at least they were comfortable for the night, he could remain close enough that he would not worry them, nor be worried about them and they could figure out what else to do together, when the sun rose again.
(my sincerest apologies for making you two wait, I intend to stay on top of my tags, if I do not you're welcome to throw things at my head ;; )

While Robin spoke to Sommer, Rodanza did her best to get to her hooves without falling over. The rain was beating harder on them, thunder rolling in the distance.
"Th-there's a cave just a little ways further near the back of the ledge. It'll be big enough for the three of us," she said over the rain, then aided Robin in helping Sommer stand, supporting the flutter between their bodies as Rodanza steered them in the right direction. She grabbed her pack with her teeth along the way.
After a few moments, they were out of the rain. Rodanza shook off at the entrance, urging the others to shake off as well. Going to bed with a wet pelt in a place like this would mean risk of fungal infections. She dropped her pack in a corner, sandwiching Sommer between herself and Robin when they were done for warmth.
"Sommer, we love you...If it hadn't been for you, I probably would've gone over that ledge tonight. You and Robin saved my life...," she said softly, nuzzling him.

Robin nodded to Rodanza and stood, helping Sommer along as he needed to, the hart was clearly weak, Robin wondered if he was otherwise hurt physically but he had stood on his own earlier. If only he would just say, one way or another.
At the cave entrance he shook off, then moved closer to Sommer, just in case he'd need someone to catch him in his weaken state.
In the cave he settled down and was quiet, feeling exhausted all the way to his core, he nuzzled Sommer and reached over, stretching his neck to lick and nuz Rodanza' cheek, a silent 'we found him' a tiny thing for him to cling to, one triumph. With so much loss to come.

Sommer sighed heavily. He was weathered and exhausted all the way into the deepest parts of his soul. But laying here, with Robin on one side and Rodanza on the other, he felt warmer, both inside and out, then he had in a very long time.
"I'm sorry.." He'd been saying that a lot recently, it seemed to be the mantra of his life. All he wanted right now was to just...stay here forever. He didn't care at that exact moment if he'd ever see any others ever again. In this moment, he wanted to be frozen into till his days were gone. But he knew that wasn't possible. Safe and sheltered, they'd want to know why he'd run away, why he'd made them worry, and why he'd pushed them away.
He was the one who advocated honesty when their relationship began and he was one of the worst to stay honest. He preferred the ones he loved to live in blissful lies instead of being hurt by hard truth.
Sommer took a deep breath and began. "I..it was time to tell Flora..."
Rain beat down on the cave outside. He recounted the events that happened, how long ago now he had no idea. The confrontation, the fight, the words, the pain, the crying, and the running away. He couldn't bare to look Robin in the face as he told his story, a couple of tears tracking down his cheeks. Then he recounted how he had ended up in this particular part of the world (even though he had little recollection on how precisely he wound up there himself.) Finally, he spoke quietly of his nightmare. Even recounting it there in the safety of his two mates, he quivered in fright and sadness down to his core.
"....and zen, ze two of you found me and ze rezt you know."
He laid his head down again on the floor of the cave, staring straight ahead, watching the rain. Inwardly he steeled himself for whatever conversations, questions, fights, or heartbreaks may come.

"So my sister had another hissy-fit and ran away..." Robin murmured, letting out a small but exasperated sigh.
"Sommer my dear hart, please do not believe what she has said for an instant longer." He shook his head, sighing further, his breath rising, but his anger in check as always. He did not want to have to reveal this but doing so all the same.
"I am starting to believe more and more that Flora, is not entirely, stable, in the mind. My family is not -ruined- and if it is, it is not because I have feelings for you, or because you have feelings for me. I have not had a close relationship with my parents since I was small, or my brother for that matter, perhaps from lack of trying, perhaps on both our parts... I wish to change this, but I believe I have the time too do so. I just, am not sure how." He shook his head, going back to the point.
"The mindset of my parents, against Lawley and mine against theirs -is not your fault-, nor is it going to change if I was not with you. What does it matter, the gender of who you love. To me, that is just not an issue. Even the ancient guardians had strife and conflict over this matter, it is wrong and ridiculous for her to say any of those things to you. I am sorry, so sorry, Sommer, Rodanza, that this is spilling out, and hurting the two of you now. Flora is crazy if she believes that hating you will do her or our family any good, and you are crazy to think that Rondaza and I would be 'better off', or even happy at all, without you with us. You two are my family as well."
He leaned his head onto Sommer's resting it there lightly, leaning over further to nuzzled Rodanza, wanting her to know that he cared for her just as much as he did their hart.

Rodanza nuzzled hem both before speaking up softly, her throat a bit raw," Sometimes when I'm out on the meadow, I can hear other whispering...They call me things like 'Selfish' or a 'Slut'....Point being, everyone with always have something to say. The important thing is that you tune that out and just listen to what we're saying...We're saying we love you, Sommer. We want to have a life with you, a family, a home...,"
She smiled warmly, looking tired but happy.
"I don't know Flora very well to speak of her, but...You both are very important to me. I won't let anyone get in the way of that," She said seriously, silver eyes glinting in the bit of light that came in through the mouth of the cave. It quickly faded to love and warmth for her two harts, nuzzling them both.

Sommer felt many things right then. Cold, Numb, Pain, Joy, Warmth, Love...mostly he felt their love. Tears welled in his eyes but he refused to shed any more tears.
Weakly, he nudges into Rodanza's cheek, giving her a little lick. He turns and does the same to Robin. It was all he could do to thank them at that point. He'd been a pain, a hassle, a worry, and any hart or hind in their right minds would have fled from him at this point.
But they hadn't. Instead they'd come rushing to him and drug him from the edge of no return. As blind as Sommer could sometimes be on the right choices to make when it came to the heart, even he knew that these two were here. With him. And that he would stay.
"and..zey'll ztay.." he whispered quietly to himself.
He lays with them silently, only their breathing filling the cave with gentle noise. He turned his head, looking at Rodanza for a long while. Her breathing seemed steady and he wondered if she'd drifted off. She looked so serene and lovely.
And then turned his head, looking at Robin. He thought he could see Robin's head dipping a little and then raising again, as if he was fighting the urge to sleep. He smiled lightly. It was cute.
He'd never realized before just how beautiful they both were. Not only on the outside, but their inner beauty. His heart stirred in his chest. Whatever woe might come in the future, he felt deep down that this choice was the right one. He sighed a little. He needed a lot of self reflection and to break some bad habits.
But all that could start tommorow. Tonight...this moment, was perfect, and he was going to hold onto it as tightly as he could for as long as he could.
"Je vous aime deux, avec tout mon coeur. Je vous remercie beaucoup de m'avoir sauvé." He said softly.
I love you two, with all of my heart. Thank you very much for saving me.....
THE END
