Baringa noticed the funny look Lottie shot him "What?!" he exclaimed pretending innocence. Once they'd started off again he looked back the way they'd come a few times, eyeing their trail. He sighed once then focussed his attention forwards, "So, Lottie, how big is your Herd?" He asked, just as she told him they weren't far.
He followed behind her again, galloping to keep up with her, nodding as she said they were practically there. He stopped rapidly as she slowed down and neighed, shifting his feet nervously he stayed back from where the herd was, he wasn't too sure about meeting another Stallion, let alone a whole herd.

A couple mares called for their foals to return to the heart of the herd as Lottie had brought a newcomer to their homelands. Most of the herd stared at the stallion with a wary curious expression. The young mare stepped down towards her Father who had advanced in front of the herd. He didn’t look very happy or upset though it was hard to read any expression from the aged stallion. He greeted his daughter as Lottie walked to him and the two conversed while taking a couple glances to Baringa. After a couple minutes Lottie returned to Baringa with a cocky grimace as she looked at him. “You stand on judgment,” she told him. “Prove to why my Father should accept you into this herd. And prove to them you’re not a domesticated stallion,” Lottie said. The mare stepped a bit away from him as she dipped her head down and gently brushed the underside of the chin against some grass blades. She knew that the wild fiery spirit of a free horse still lurked somewhere in Baringa and needed a spark to be released. But she was unsure how or even when that would happen.
“Charlotte,” a familiar voice to the mare called out. Lottie groaned to her full name being said and lifted her head to see an aged mare. The mare’s once beautiful smooth black coating was now aged with white and gray hairs. “You are to teach him,” the elder said as she stepped forwards. “Teach this stallion the meanings of being wild and the taste of freedom.” Lottie snorted and stomped her hooves onto the earth. “What? I will not!” Lottie argued. “He can teach himself!” Lottie glanced to Baringa. The aged mare shook her head and without another word took off.
“Great! Just perfect,” Lottie muttered as she stomped onto the ground again. She pursed out her lips as she looked to Baringa in annoyance and frustration.

Baringa stood, under the eyes of the Herd Stallion he felt vulnerable. Luckily he was too proud to shake like he felt he wanted to, this male could kill him if he wanted to, or he could run him out of the territory for him to wander alone. Breaking the gaze he tried to show the other stallion that he was no threat, keeping his whole demeanour low and submissive to the older male. "P..prove to them?" he said, not sure he could live up to her expectation of him.
He flinched as a female voice came from very close by and spun on his heels in an admirable fashion, if he'd been in a fight he would have the advantage with that kind of fast moving, however the voice was reassuring and his heart slowed it's insane beating. He bowed his head low to the female, "Ma'am you raised a fine daughter" he said quietly, wondering why Lottie was so irritated at the chance of spending time with him.

The elder female chuckled as she glanced over her shoulder at Baringa. Lottie couldn’t help it but to laugh softly as she walked over to the young male. She gently brushed the end of her snout against his side. “That wasn’t my mother,” she told him with another laugh. Lottie rolled her eyes and shook her head. “I’ll show you around to everyone in a bit. For now we have to decide on how you’re going to prove to the herd that you should stay,” she said.
Lottie was unsure if she would be able to pull that spirited stallion that still burned within Baringa’s heart. She knew that the wild horse was still somewhere in there.
“Come on,” she nudged him again as she began to walk to the woodlands that surrounded the plains on all sides. “What do you remember of being free?” she asked him. “It can be a taste, a smell, or even something that you saw. I’m sure there has to be something you remembered,” she glanced back at him with a hopeful smile.

Baringa smiled, the older mare seemed nice. He flinched a little at Lottie's words "Oh!.. i'm sorry, which one is your mother then?" he asked, then shook his head "Prove? HOW?!" he questioned, wondering why and what on earth he had to prove, he was a Stallion, he'd broken free of his human and had journeyed here with Lottie, what else did he have to prove?
His skin prickled pleasantly when she nudged him again, nudging him out of his private thoughts "hmm? Remember? oh right, well, i remember my mother, she had a sweet voice but she...she.." he hung his head a little, trying to banish the memory away

“Listen. I don’t make the rules! But I’m guessing it’s accustomed for anyone who wants to be apart of the herd. You need to earn their trust,” she nudged he head to the herd and pointed her snout towards her Father. “Especially him,” she added before turning her gaze to Baringa. Her ears pulled back as he seemed upset about something. “Baringa?” she spoke softly as she gently brushed the end of her nostrils against his shoulder. “It’s okay,” she reassured him with a gentle smile. “Everyone is haunted by dark memories. You shouldn’t be ashamed of it,” she stepped closer to him. “I won’t press any further. Let us change the subject,” she smiled.
The young mare stepped forwards to the forest’s border. “What do you like to do?” she asked flickering her tail. “You must have hobbies,” she glanced over her shoulder at him. She smiled, turning her head around as she walked into the forest. The coolness of the shade embracing her as she stepped out from the heat of the sunlight.

"ok ok" he said, backing off slightly, "he doesn't look too happy, i mean, he's your father and he hasn't even come up to greet you" he replied, shaking his head again to clear the black thoughts out of it. "It's alright Lottie.. she..died when the men came, she tried to stop them, and she slipped off the path, broke her leg and the humans ..... made sure she didn't suffer" he explained.
He huffed, blowing out a deep breath. "hobbies? well, i used to pace the rim of the fence" he said "sometimes i liked to just run when the Man took me out to stretch my legs, i think he liked it when i just ran until i couldn't anymore" he laughed, nipping her lightly and racing off, into the trees.

Lottie laughed as Baringa nipped at her and then took off into the woodlands. She chased after him and was glad to see this side of the stallion. He was now happy or that’s’ what she thought he was, but Lottie wondered if he missed his sheltered life and the human man that took care of him. She tilted her head to the side as she looked at Baringa. She wanted to ask but the enjoyment of the two running throughout the woods had stopped her.
More laughter escaped from her vocals as she lunged forwards and jumped over a small fallen tree. She galloped to Baringa’s side, reaching over and nipping at his mane. “Bet you can’t catch me!” she challenged with a grimace. The mare tossed her mane back into the breeze as she ran forwards ahead of him. She glanced over her shoulder, looking at Baringa with a smile.

Baringa laughed as he heard Lottie crashing behind him, "you're fast" he commented, his footfalls heavier than Lotties since his hooves were shod, while hers were not "Catch you? anytime" he chuckled, putting his spirit into the run as she nipped at his mane.
Thud thud thud cluck went his hooves, one iron shoe loose, as they ran over the rough ground Baringa started to slow, trying to keep his pace. He stumbled here and there, then slowed until he was just trotting. "Ouch" he mumbled slowing further until he was standing, panting as he caught his breath, he was unfit for a wild horse, having not had the freedom to run where he liked, to stretch his legs all the time as he should have been able were he always wild.

Lottie glanced over her shoulder to see that Baringa had stopped. Her ears pulled back as she turned around and trotted up along his side. She stopped beside him breathing heavily with her nostrils flaring. She dipped her head down and gently brushed the end of her muzzle against his shoulder. “Something wrong?” she asked looking at him with worry in her eyes. She looked down his leg and sniffed as she looked at his hooves. She tilted her head to the side in curiosity and wondered if he was wearing those ‘iron shoes’ that humans liked to put on horses.
“Do they hurt?” Lottie asked as she raised her head and looked at Baringa. Had she pushed him too far? “I’m sorry,” she whispered as she glanced down at his hooves again. She wondered if they would just fall off and hoped that they would. “Baringa?” her ears pulling back again as she stepped closer to him until their sides met.

Baringa just breathed heard for a moment, "i...i'm fine, just this is loose" he said lifting the offending hoof "i think it will come off" he relplied, leaning against her just a little, enjoying the contact.
"A little but don't worry" he said smiling, nudging her with his muzzle, "i started the run, not you, don't be sorry" he said softly, his ears flicking uncertainly as she moved closer, pressing against his side. He lifted his head high and stretched his neck out over Lottie's then pulled it close, in a gentle embrace, leaning his chin against her neck.

Lottie’s eyes closed for a brief moment as she leaned into Baringa’s warming embrace. She had never felt so warm before especially around any stallions. So why was Baringa different? She opened her eyes and blinked them for a moment before raising her head and stepping back. She looked to the young stallion with a faint smile. She snorted and tossed back her mane before stepping back again. She shook her head and breathed deeply. “We should uh…get some how-to-be-wild training in you,” she said as she looked away from him. Lottie’s ears pulled back and then prinked forwards. “Come,” she directed her head towards the woodlands around them.
She wasn’t sure where to begin. Her lips pursed a bit as she thought for a moment. “Anything you remember?” she asked, glancing over her shoulder at Baringa with a hopeful smile.
