Topamax = WONDERDRUG. Not only does it take care of my depression, I don't get nearly as many migranes as I used to, and I've lost a lot of weight with it.
I've been on Zoloft for years, too. I'm not even sure if it works anymore, but I'm afraid to go off of it.

color-me-wretched Topamax = WONDERDRUG. Not only does it take care of my depression, I don't get nearly as many migranes as I used to, and I've lost a lot of weight with it. I've been on Zoloft for years, too. I'm not even sure if it works anymore, but I'm afraid to go off of it. I actually tried switching from Zoloft to Wellbutrin recently, and even though I don't recall withdrawal symptoms from the first time I was on Zoloft, this time it was really bad. I felt like I had the flu, like I was severely dehydrated despite chugging water. The consensus was that I stopped it too abruptly (I titrated down over the course of about 2 weeks, from 200 mg/day). I went back to 50 mg with the 150 Wellbutrin, and I felt 300% better. I'm now waiting until my exams are over before I try to stop the Zoloft again.

I've been taking the Wellbutrin XL for over 2 years now. It was at 300 mg, but I've recently talked my doctor into weaning me off the meds, so now I'm down to 150 mg.

I'm taking Wellbutrin, too. It's the best antidepressant I've ever been on. The only problem with it is that if I don't take it with enough food, it'll hurt my stomach and it has a effect like a small dose of caffiene, so if I forget to take it until late it'll keep me up. Seroquel as well is great for me, it was difficult at first with the tiredness, but I learned to adjust. The combination of those two has stabilized me more then any of the other medications I used to take. I used to be on a lot more, but paring it down to just two actually helped a great deal.

I live in South Africa, so some of the medications here have different names. I'll put the active ingredient down for all of them in case anyone wants an alternative in another country. smile
Molipaxin (Trazodone) is the best antidepressant I've been on. I had a really bad reaction to SSRIs, so this is a side effect free alternative that's been working perfectly for me.
Other medication I'm on/ have been on:
*Antidepressants*
-Adco-Talomil (Citalopram): This is what I had terrible side effects with. Apparently side effects are common, but it's a cheaper option so it's common to try it first.
*Mood stabilizers*
-Abilify (Aripiprazole): Besides being really expensive, it didn't work for me, and it gave me unbearable anxiety levels and insomnia.
-Seroquel (Quetiapine): It may have worked for mood stability, but it was hard to tell as I was so tired the whole time. It dangerously lowered my blood pressure too, so I was prone to nearly passing out, as well as having frequent blackouts.
-Epitec (Lamotrigine): I'm still on it now, but not yet at a dosage that should be very effective. So far no sure side effects, and it seems like it might be starting to work.

Sorry can't help... All my meds were awful. I can tell you worst most useless and depressing...Zoloft. It dulled my senses, just enough to make things seem worse. It made everything dark. The sun was less bright. Everything was in a fog. And life was going through the motions without emotions. And time dragged on forever. Closest to suicide I have ever been. (as an adult, two attempts as a child i do not recall) Except for when I stopped taking it...that made me crazy. really bad. like i was in a tornado being sucked down a drain. What's up with giving suicidal ppl meds that increase your risk of suicide?
None of my other depression meds did anything but make me tired, apathetic...and more of the same.
I haven't taken meds for any other disorders just therapy. (even though i think if my anxiety were solved my depression might follow)
For me being outside in the sun alone(or with family) in the middle of nowhere. That is the best medicine. Of course I never do that..its more of a theory. Actually usually I get agitated when I try to do things with family .
