Others laughed along with Hale, except for the bachelors, Adjo whining out 'Mother!' to her. Morticia squeaked a little when Hale said that and she put her paws to her mouth, "I-I-I wasn't thinking that!!" she said, wondering why she would say such a thing!

"Really?" Hale said to Morticia, sounding genuinely surprised for a moment. "Well you'd be one of the first. Outside of your family, most Kitsusagi would only take one look at somebody like me before saying 'augh, its a Nightmare, kill it, kill it!'. They make judgements before they even get to know us."
She rose to her feet. "This is all very nice, but I should be on my way." She shook herself off, sighing. It was nice here, great, even. But the thought of her surrogate son out there somewhere causing mischeif worried her. One day if he wasn't careful, he was going to get himself killed. If she could catch and find him again, she should take him back here... it did her wonders, and it would probably do him a world of good also.
Provided she could find him, that is...
"You've all been such wonderful company," Hale said quietly. "But I really must be on my way. I have a surrogate son. He's not of my blood, I don't even consider myself old enough to be able to sustain a mate and my own family just now. But... he is my responsibility, and I must go out and find him."

Adjo's sharp ears picked up her saying she should go and something inside grew upset at the thought of never 'seeing' her again. He got up and ran toward her, his mother right behind him, "Let me and my mother walk you out then." he asked, ignoring the snickers behind him and the whack that came from Helen as she hit them all upside their heads.

Hale stopped again, turning on her heels as she heard Adjo's approaching voice. She lowered her head, feeling bad for leaving him so abruptly like this. She turned her head back in the direction she had come - sighing. If she could just find Zephyrizon and bring him here, maybe things would change... either that, or he would endanger the lives of everybody here.
She shifted on her paws uncomfortably, deeply conflicted, not knowing what to do. All she knew right now was, she had to find him and make sure he was alright, and not busy trying to get himself killed.
"I'm sorry..." She said to Adjo as he moved towards her. "Thanks for walking me back out, but..." She shook her head, shifting on her paws again, lowering her head once more.
"I need to find Zephyr. But I fear in bringing him here later to introduce him, he will harm your family."

Once the two had caught up, they started walking along side her. Charna snorted a bit, "Do not worry about your charge bringing harm to our family. We may not seem it, but are fiercely protective of our own, and if he tried to harm any here.....I would kill him." she said, as if it was a simple fact.
Adjo winced a little after his mother said that, but he knew it to be true, his mother would kill anyone that threatened or brought harm to their family, "And there are other creatures here that could easily subdue him. Bring Zeph here Hale, it might do alot more good then you think." he said in a reassuring tone.

Hale stopped dead on her heels as she listened to Charna's statement, and it felt like her heart had just sank into the pit of her stomach. The way the older female Nightmare made the statement... she just knew it to be true.
A weak hatchling-like squeak escaped her and she visibly started to shake, an unwell feeling coming over her. She had been so happy and content just mere moments ago. Now that was all completely gone.
"I... I.." Hale began, sounding very conflicted and miserable. "I can't bring him here, then... the mere fact of the thought of a fight, and Zephyrizon would aggitate your family even more just to get it..." Her ears were flattened against her skull now. "I'm sure you can understand the desire to protect... I would rather my adopted youth stay corrupt, than be dead..."
Her voice was beginning to break up, and she was on the verge of tears. She shook her head and snorted. She was being an idiot. She ruffled the fur on the back of her neck and made a loud hissy growl at herself, as if to tell herself to shut the hell up.

Adjo forcefully pushed his mother away, scolding her for saying that to Hale and telling her to just go away. he then walked up to her, mindful of the hissing and he then nuzzled his cheek against hers, purring lightly, "Don't listen to what my mother said, he won't get hurt here, I promise. You would both be safe here, I told you my mother has a mean temperment when it comes to protecting the family." He then licked at her muzzle and stepped back, "Come back to us Hale..." he said softly.

Hale was initially silent, her mind still reeling about all the bad things that could happen if she brought him to meet Adjo's extended family. After a moment or two, she jumped slightly as she felt Adjo nuzzling his cheek against hers. She lowered her head, a loud vibrating purr emanating from her chest, calming down again almost immediately. The mere fact he could do such a thing like this to her both amazed and intruiged her. It was also one of the best sensations she ever felt. Even his scent was calming.
Hale'oki grinned as he licked her muzzle, and then tried to suddenly move her head in and lightly bump her bony snout against his, copying a gesture her mother had taught her once. She did not know what it meant entirely, but it was never done in aggression.
"I..." She began, lowering her head as he stepped away again. "I'll bring him here." She said, a sudden snort of determination escaping her nostrils. "And if he tries to harm your family? I'll bloody near kill him myself." A low rowl emanated from her chest.
Her next statement was far less angry and gentle, but no less determined.
"I'll come back," Hale said, moving off again, brushing past Adjo in the process, taking the opportunity to rub herself up against him, brushing his side with her three fluffy kitsune-like tails also. "Just try and stop me."
With that, she padded away into the forest, tongue flicking out of her mouth quickly, her mind turning to thoughts of the most likely spots where her surrogate son would be. He had a lesson to learn. Now.

Adjo turned to face the direction she went off, a soft sigh escaping his muzzle as he scent got further and further away. He tensed up as he heard his mothers all too amused chuckling behind him, "Come back to us....I think you mean come back to you..." she said in a teasing tone, turning herself to head back home. Adjo's normally dark face went red and he sputtered in his spot before he turned and ran after her, letting out a whiny, annoyed "Mooooommmmmm!!!!"
