Kaikura felt a growl of pleasure rumble through his throat as he raced across the border of the pridelands. He loved the warmth that rushed through his muscles as he worked them in powerful motions to move his body forward. He reveled in his own physical prowess and had ever since he was a child. In those days it had seemed impossible to measure his progress. But now he felt it and took no shame in feeling a surge of pride and satisfaction.

As he came to the crest of a large hill he paused, looking over at the ground he had covered. A cocky grin crossed his maw, showing a nice set of fangs. Yes, this was more like it.

She hung around the border to the Pridelands, feeling anxious about being in a land that was not her own. In fact, no land was her own, but loyalty to Kiuma kept her in the Pridelands. She was close enough to the border that if she wanted to flee into unclaimed lands, she could. Baala hated running away, but at times it was necessary. She would take intelligence over brute strength any day. One could do nothing with their strength if they had not a good enough mind to put it properly into use.

The sight of Kaikura was to her... amusing, and she perked up an eye brow as the young lion ran in some sort of peculiar pleasure. She did not understand it, and usually she avoided males at all cost after what Kiuma had shared with her. But she needed to test out Kiuma's ideas... Were males nothing more then brainless monsters, breaking hearts and lives?

She climbed up the hill, eyeing the young male, wondering how he would take to conversation. "Would you mind a new running partner?" Her voice was sweet, and she had no idea why she offered to run with him. Perhaps when he was tired out he would not be that much of a threat. Honestly, he still didn't look like much to her.

Kaikura had become aware that someone was near very quickly. All his training had its uses, after all. Seeing it was just a stupid female he found he'd rather be on his own. Girls were so useless, after all. "Sorry, Missie, but if you mean you then you might want to stop while you're ahead. You'd never keep up," he rumbled offhandedly. He didn't work with anyone unless they were worth it; unless they were strong enough. A female being as such never crossed his mind.

She stared at him for a few seconds, analyzing him and finding that she was vaguely irritated that his opinion of her was so low when he did not know her. Sitting down in front of him, she tossed her bangs back, icy blue-grey eyes fractionally glaring at him. How dare he! What a rude brute, the absolute definition of a useless male. She could already begin to guess what was important to him, his ego and his body, which were closely tied together.

"Darling," she said in a dangerous purr, "you underestimate me. I am not some soft-fleshed Pridelander. I am a rogue, I have walked farther then you, run farther then you, and have seen more then you. It is you who would have difficulty keeping up with me. Your weight alone would slow you down." Oh, and yes, she was insinuating that he was fat, even if he wasn't.

Her voice seemed to buzz through his ear like another language. Obviously her importance to him was so low that he didn't even bother listening. "Listen here, sweetie. If you want to play pretend, go find some kids. Lets not waste my time," he growled with the same confidence and indifference as before. He stretched legs, showing a tension in a good set of muscles for a male of his age, and then turned to lope off. It seemed he wasn't even going to give her the time of day.

Dear gods and goddesses, she was not impressed by this male. In fact, a part of her was repulsed that he held her in such low regard. It disgusted her that he was so self-centered, and a part of her then became determined to open up his eyes a little. She was not a tiny blimp on someone's radar. Baala was not someone to mess with, and especially not someone to insult. Even she had a bit of pride, one that did not like the way it was being treated.

She ran ahead of him, putting herself in his path, and just then she proved that she was quick. Baala was not going to let this idiot get away. "Call me sweetie again and you will soon find your face in the dirt. I am superior to you, you who has no mind and little heart." Oh, she was just a tad angry.

"I did say to go play pretend somewhere else, didn't I? I'm not here to listen to your femminist ramblings," he said, looking bored but a little annoyed. Didn't girls know when to shut up? Though he was tempted to laugh at her. Superior did she say? What a joke. Superior in childrearing and snoozing, maybe. And that was all the leeway he was going to give her.

He might be selfcentered and close minded, but he was strong for his age. Not abnormally so, but it was definately not something that had been left to nature. He had worked at it and had received grand results. A fight would not be a pretty thing.

"Feminist ramblings?" She forced out a laugh, strategically baring her teeth in a veiled threat. "I must say, young sir, that you are being sexist! I would enjoy seeing into your future, because as a guarantee you will be a lonely monster, stupid and single-minded and never destined to change." Baala was an unhappy lioness, though her voice remained smooth and calm. It did not betray any of the anger and frustration she was experiencing.

Baala was on the other end of the spectrum, and it was clear that she was small for her age. She was pretty, but she had little size to increase her physical strength. She knew endurance, could run forever, but hold her own in a fight? It was doubtful she'd come out the victor, and that was why she'd rather avoid a fight then get into one.

Kaikura was getting impatient. While he didn't think much of females, he wasn't above hurting them. No, that would require him to be a gentleman. Which he was not. "If you know all that about me then perhaps you should use your smarts to realize that you're wasting your breath," he growled, flexing his claws in the dirt idley. If she didn't shut up soon his urge to fight might get her into a spot. "And if being lonely means I don't have to deal with people like you then...well I'll be quite happy. Now are you going to move or do I have to push you, mm?" he gave a twisted, cocky smile that showed his fangs. It seemed he'd like nothing better then to knock her right out of the way.

She realized quickly that he did not have the same level of patience that she had. He was less tolerant, and while Baala could become angry, she was not angry enough to lash out at him. But this was the way their meeting was seeming to be headed, and it was wiser to catch him off guard and attack first. It was not in Baala's dignity to back down, not to some stupid brute, but if she continued on like this a fight would surely start. "I will only move if you admit that you have insulted me, and that you are a sexist. I want an apology as well, and if you don't get one... well, a fight sure isn't worth it, but if you want one, I will give you one." She unsheathed her claws, the hairs on the back of her neck and shoulders standing on end in an attempt to prove that she was not someone to mess with.

Kaikura didn't even wait for her to finish before he lashed out. His reflexes moved sharply and quickly, bringing his muscles to work in an instant as he pushed off the ground. He lifted one clawed paw and twisted his body throwing his heavy but obviously agile body at the female in an attempt to ram her and knock her over.

She was ready for an attack, had been prepared for it since the moment Kaikura showed the least bit irritation. Baala had been in fights, she knew what they were about. They could be crippling, life-threatening, but in the back of her mind she predicted this to be more of a brawl. She was not ready to put her life on the line for the insult he did to her. She was ready to teach him a lesson, instead. Baala would show him how to respect females, will teach him about what kind of threat they may be.

She let his weight ram into her body, but she refused to be thrown back, twisting her body, lifting herself onto her back legs, trying to dig her claws into him. She would hold on for dear life, fangs beared, head leaning forward to dig her teeth into the flesh of his shoulder, if only so she could hold on to him. Never did she intend for any wound that would cripple him, only things that would hurt. Hurt, and make him regret his decision to mess with her.

For all of her big words, Kaikura had not been expecting much of a fight. With his guard dropped she was able to get her claws into him. The spots she landed, however, were not the most sensative. He let out a thundering growl that throbbed through his throat and bared his fangs. She had lifted herself up and so would he. He pushed with his hind legs, attemping to use his larger size, weight, and strength to his advantage. And that fact that she had taken her front paws off the ground left her belly exposed.

With his claws ready from his ramming attack he lashed out at her stomach.

Belatedly, she realized that his idea of a fight was differing from her own. The stomach was a dangerous area to attack, an area that if scored could kill her. Baala did not want to do Kaikura that much damage, but yet he seemed out to give her lasting damage. She had attacked his shoulder for a reason, to keep from hurting him excessively. Did she have to step up her game? ...The answer seemed to be yes, but she wanted to give him a chance to realize that a fight to the kill was stupid.

Instead of having her stomach slashed to bits, she relaxed the muscles in her legs, let herself fall down onto the ground. But she twisted her body, shielding her stomach by landing on it. Of course, she offered her back up to damage from him, but it was better then getting her belly scored repeatedly. Her back would heal... she was not sure if her stomach would if attacked.

After his attack on her back Kaikura too a light, casual step to the side. He was a strong fighter and one who didn't lash out with regrets. But he wasn't bloodthirsty. He longed for action, perhaps, and strength but there was really no point to killing everyone he met. Especially a female who thought she was worth something.

"I'll admit," he laughed with a fierce grin, "You've got some guts. But listen lady, if you're going to fight someone you better not hold back. That'll get you killed one day, mm?"
