Akivar, City of Guilds and Order. Ten guilds. Or official guilds.
This is a place you go when you need information, for it seems that no matter what the business of the world, someone here knows something about it.
There are many long complicated alleys across this city, some cut off with a dead end. Few of these alleys are considered "safe" as the city guard have a hard time hearing screams echo above the constant noises of the city itself.
During the day, it is calm and peaceful, very rare for it to rain. This is when most of the common place business occurs, simple trading and such.
At night, it is an entirely different scenario. Thugs roam the streets, night clubs open and the madness begins. It is when the more useful informants arrive, enjoying themselves within the chaotic confines of loud banging music and beautiful women.
There is a river, deep beneath the city. A vast, large river that almost spans the entire city, which in itself is gigantic. The city draws power from this river, using it to not only power their machines, but to fuel the drinking faucets as well. For this, there is no water bill, but there is a team of scientists who route the pipes from one building to the next.
A large tower scales the heights of the center district, where ships of the sky may dock. Of course, this is after filling out the proper requisite fees and confirming your business within the city.
There are several fountains throughout the city, one larger and more magnificent than the last. Parks and paths were made in the... richer districts, where one could live in beauty.
Below the city is what is called the "Undercity" where the darker creatures murk. Here, cultists and murderers live, where there is no law to enforce.
(City from MTG, but treat it like you would any other city.)
