Well that makes me very happy. Don't get me wrong, Vergil's a great character, but I'd rather they avoid the use of deus ex machina to bring back a character into the game just because he's popular. It also sort of kills off any belief that Nero is Vergil reborn.

Although Vergil has been confirmed to not appear in DMC4, one of very few positive things about this desicison is that it will finally put down those goddamn "Nero is Vergil" or "Vergil is the Devil Bringer" theories to rest.
I hate to say this, but I never did liked those "Vergil is Nero's Arm" theories mostly because I didn't enjoy the idea that of one of my favourite characters being reduced to a Dante-like character (Sorry, Nero!), or even worse, an arm.
Also we have to remember that the purpose of DMC4 is to bring in new people to the series. This game is probably most like;y directed towards players who have never played DMC3: SE before, thus the new protagonist, new characters, and new story.
So in the end, I guess I have to suck it up, move on, and probably be glad that Vergil isn't in DMC4.
Besides, I'd rather Vergil not be in DMC4 than to see him as a limb.

Yeah, but that means that Virgil's voice actor from DMC3 is going to be voicing someone else. They said he's in the credits, last I'd heard. AND I hadn't heard anyone think Nero=Virgil. All I've heard is that people think they are somehow connected, like with the arm thing or that Nero is (somehow) Virgil's kid...

no that means vergil wont be in it but for all we know maybe nelo angelo or gilver will be in it

And Gilver isn't even really a different form, just Vergil wrapped in clothe bandages so he isn't identified by Dante/Tony. And all of that went on BEFORE DMC1, if it's counted as canon. In other words, I would count that as Vergil being in the game, even if the design team doesn't.

Now, lets analize this. Devil May Cry's main goal is to kick as much butt as you can, and be awesome. Vergil coming back from the dead in any other form than a zombie would not be awesome. Therefore, he dosn't come back.
And, Vergil went boom in DMC1. I won't say much more then that for spoilers sake.

Unless they do another prequel, I’m pretty sure he’s gone.
Check “The Death of Nelo Angelo” on you tube for more information, though it contains Devil May Cry 1 spoilers, and terriable voice acting. razz
