It seems I have a severe case of this bizarre and rare condition. Every time I see a camera in a thrift store I jump with glee. Only a few weeks ago I acquired an Olympus XA, but did that placate me? Nay. A mere couple of weeks later, I find myself buying yet ANOTHER camera, a Yashica Electro 35 GSN.
As it currently stands, I have 10 cameras. 8 of them are film. Kodak Duaflex II, Argus C3 Matchmatic, Olympus XA, Yashica Electro 35 GSN... the list goes on, and is likely to continue expanding for quite some time now, until I run out of shelves to store them on.
Does anybody else have this same condition? Does anybody else sniff out cheap, old cameras in thrift stores like a drug-sniffing dog finding crack in LAX?

I have this problem. I don't know why I have such an insatiable urge to acquire more cameras. It doesn't make me a better photographer. It actually makes me one of the worst kinds because I'm more obsessed with equipment than taking pictures.

True indeed.
On one hand, some of the cameras that I have obtained each have their own uses - the Olympus XA is tiny and pocketable, the Yashica GSN is a great low-light performer, the Holga is, well, a Holga... But on the other hand, a lot of the cameras I get just sit there and look pretty (Kodak Duaflex II, Argus C3 Matchmatic, etc). My camera-acquiring time is beginning to outweigh my picture-taking time. I need to work on that...

i know the problem well and suffer greatly from it. as does my bank account. i have 4 pentax k1000 bodies, 3 different types of polaroid cameras, a dslr and a point and shoot digital, plus a novelty pop art camera. i have a holga and a brownie about to go into the collection.
it's ridiculous and wonderful
