Okay, here's where WA members can openly talk about the final Harry Potter book. (Or the previous six if they so chose as well) It's hard to explain things without giving stuff away so I put the spoiler warning up.

Yeah, everyone died. I was kinda surprised that harry lived. I thought he would actually die, instead of temporarily die then come back again.

I wanted him to die... But no, they had to go kill Fred, Tonks, Lupin and Dobby instead...

they couldn't kill Harry. Cuz the prophesy said "Neither could live while the other did" and that would mean Voldemort would win and that's just... against all the rules in my book. The whole good guy always wins thing.

Yeah, in my book I kill the main character off once he finally wants to live. ^_^

I didn't mind her killing off Tonks and Lupin -- they were interesting, but having Teddy be an orphan is more interesting to me -- but Dobby and Fred were sad. Actually, I've never been fond of their relationship, either. There was something off about it all. Maybe because the first fic I ever read for them showed me perfectly how they could never work out. xd It was an excellent argument, actually.
Still, Teddy as an orphan, and Harry's godson... It seemed fitting.
Personally, my favorite chapter was The Prince's Tale. crying Oh my gosh, I've read it more than half a dozen times already. I knew Snape wasn't evil. I'd have been terribly disappointed in JKR if she'd had him end up as a villain all along. What totally blew me away was that the Severus/Lily shippers were actually right. I always thought it was a random fan-pairing. But now I'm crazy about it.
Doesn't anyone pity Snape, for having to see the eyes of the one person he ever loved -- the one whose death he caused by mistake -- sitting in the face of someone who tortured him throughout his childhood and adolescence? As someone who was bullied nonstop for eight years, I have to say that I sympathize with him. If someone had started a group that would give me the power to fight back at the people who bullied me, and possibly make me impress the people I cared about... I'd have been tempted, too.
...Totally rambling. redface Sorry. I'm going to continue rambling, though, because I LOVED THIS BOOK, and I can always just regret rambling and apologize later.
Snape is currently one of my three favorite Harry Potter characters, just beside Neville and Luna. So I had to ramble about him.
I'm also fond of Draco, even though I detested him until the sixth book. And I really, really hope that his and Harry's boys can get along the way their fathers didn't. Wouldn't it be funny if Scorpius and Al both ended up in Hufflepuff, or if Scorpius got Gryffindor and Al was in Slytherin or something?
What did you all think of the Epilogue, by the way? A lot of people hated it.
Ahh, so much more I want to say, but I'd have to read the book again to express it all. Just one last thing: Did anyone else feel as though they were reading a fanfiction, and not the actual book at all?
Have a nice day! ~ Moya

I personally thought the epilogue was too happy-fluffy. My mom read it and immediately proclaimed: "And then they all skipped off into the rainbow!"

An entirely valid reaction, I think. It was rather too happy, considering how dark the book was. But since nearly two decades had passed, I thought it was a good thing that they were all learning to move on. Though, Harry should never, ever be allowed to name children. It's no good at all. Albus Severus? That's an awfully big name to live up to.
Though I was glad that Severus became a namesake. It's the least Harry could do.
Ah well. It could've been better, but hey. I rather like most of the fan interpretations of Al and Scorpius that I've read so far. My word, people jump ship easily. eek It seems as though every Draco/Harry shipper has grabbed Al/Scorpius pairing with an almost terrifying enthusiasm. Still, though I wasn't fond of Draco/Harry, I don't mind these.
Then again, it's almost impossible to find a pairing I won't read, if it's well written and in-character. xd Ah well...
Have a nice day! ~ Moya

Well, Al and Scorpius isn't all that weird, compared to many of the fanpairings I've seen over the years. New discussion material, hmm... Oh! Dumbledore is gay. I am so proud of JKR for this. Quite seriously. If anyone else wants to discuss it, I'd be delighted to babble about it. Have a nice day! ~ Moya

I'm glad for Rowling doing that, but I think she should have announced it while the books were still being released... or while Dumbledore was... I dunno, alive or something?
But... just a random quote from a comedy show I saw, I'm sorry if offends anyone, but I like it. (Sorry, I can't remember which show it was...)
"So Dumbledore is gay now, huh?... don't worry, though, Gandalf the Gray's completely straight. Gandalf the White we're not so sure about."
...and rereading that, I wonder what the heck that's supposed to do with anything, but oh well.

With the whole Snape not being a villian thing is actually realyl good because from the first book and the first movie after watching it over and over and over again i realized that he was a good guy instead. i cried my eyes out when she killed him off. Hedwig WHY DID HEDIWIG HAVE TO DIE!!!!!! I MEAN WHY KILL THE POO INNOCENT LITTLE OWL!
*brathes heavily after rant*
i creid my eyes out when she killed off all of the good characters.
