“It’s-a over, Bowser.”

“…Shoot…” Bowser rasped. “Ugh…Graaah…”

“Yeah!” Daisy shouted. “Now give us back Peach and Luigi!”

“Peach?” he moaned, lifting his head to look around hopefully. However, he bumped his head on Mario’s hammer, and fell back with a grunt.

“Yes!” Mario said. “Let her go, Bowser!”

“How can I let her go if I don’t have her?”

Mario paused. “Wha-”

“Mario!”

He whirled towards the sound of Nastasia’s voice, only to be knocked off of Bowser by a blast of magic energy. The minute he hit the ground, he was picked back up, now encased in a shimmering shield.

“Ha!” Kamek laughed triumphantly. “Got you!”

Kammy, who had trapped the others inside a shield of her own, laughed, too. “You’re ours, heroes!”

“Let-a me out!” Mario demanded.

“Why should we?” Kammy snapped. “Mario, you horrible, heartless person! How dare you! Attacking His Monstrousness without reason, and while he’s ill to boot!”

“Ill?” Nastasia peered at Bowser’s face. “Actually, now that you mention it, he does look a little green- er, greener- around the scales…”

“And now that we have you,” Kamek continued, “Princess Peach will be left defenseless at the Mushroom Kingdom!”

“What are you talking about, meanie?” Mimi cried. “You stupid-heads have Peach! …Right?”

Kamek raised an eyebrow. “What are you talking about, girl? His Majesty was going to abduct Peach after making his recovery-”

Bowser moaned and lifted his head again. “Kamek? Is that you? I swear…I didn’t mean to set the curtains on fire…It was an accident…”

“He really is outta it,” O’Chunks remarked.

“Wait, wait, wait,” Mario cried, waving his hands. “You-a mean Bowser’s been here, sick, all-a this time? He doesn’t-a have Peach or-a Weegie?”

“No!” Kammy said. Then she blinked, looking perplexed. “…Why in the world would you think that?”

“Then…if he doesn’t have Peach…” Daisy said slowly. “Who does?”

“I do!”
