I get Deja Vu a lot...
That actually has nothing to do with this Topic. That's just the title of a really good Stephen King story about Hell...

I just feel like talking, as usual.
I like to do what I call World-Based rps, they're rps based in a world that's already been made, like Final Fantasy 7's world, or Valkyrie Profile's world, or whatever. I like it cause I like molding my character to fit into other worlds, which is probably why I LOVE Kingdom Hearts so much. I'm a HUGE fan of the idea of a Multiverse, like in Kingdom Hearts and Stephen King's books (Yes, all of them. They're actually ALL connected in some way, shape for form)
"A multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of multiple possible universes (including our universe) that together comprise all of physical reality. The different universes within a multiverse are called parallel universes. The structure of the multiverse, the nature of each universe within it and the relationship between the various constituent universes, depend on the specific multiverse hypothesis considered."
For those who don't know what a multiverse is :3 Kingdom Hearts is the best pop culture example I can think of.
Yes, I'm mentioned Kingdom Hearts a lot. You'll see why.
Ever have an rp that you're just CRAVING to do? A long, deep, involved storyline rp? Frankly I been craving one for years...
Specifically, a Kingdom Hearts one. And I DO mean years. XD; I have yet to even start one, mostly because I have few rp friends anymore...And the ones I do have would want to fill the story with Vore. I mean, I like Vore but...I'm talking a SERIOUS story, not one where someone's getting eaten every 5 minutes. And ESPECIALLY one where someone's getting eaten every 5 minutes and nobody cares.
Kingdom Hearts is such a great background world for a story because...Your character can be ANYTHING. Just say they came from another world, ya know?
This all reminds me, I still need to restart my Kingdom Hearts fanfic...It's romance/comedy/action...The coupling being me and Tifa of course XD I thought up a really interesting plot twist the other night and wrote it down, making me need to restart the story cause otherwise it doesn't fit...I woulda had to put that Tifa, Yuffie, Aeris, and Cloud thought my character seemed familiar when they first met, and I didn't. Besides, I wanna rewrite some backstory on my char...
See? And now I'm rambling...
Back to the main point. The other reason is cause I such at 'DM'ing... (Only thing I can think to call it)...You know, coming up with a story, running NPCs, etc. I'm a much better character, know what I mean? I also don't feel like I get any of the character's that aren't mine's personalities right...
Hm...This should probably be in Chatterbox, huh? Eh, I'll move it later...

Don't call it DMing. Call it GMing(game mastering). I know what you mean by the idea of a multiverse. Ninja and I have experimented with the idea a bit. First of all though let me say I have never played Kingdom Hearts. I will say that I like the idea of lifting already existent material as it does provide a reasonable framework. I usually enjoy the idea of changing the and modifying that material a bit to suit a purpose. I do that alot because it opens up what before would be constricted options.
I don't know if you have ever actually gone ahead with a multiverse based idea but I have and can offer some advice. To make it truly story driven where things make sense and flow smoothly and realistically requires an enormous amount of effort and background work. Think about all the time they would have taken with Kingdom Hearts to properly tool the story to work. When you are dealing with something like that, and by that I mean creating a major storyline from multiple ones, you have the burden of taking developed characters and continuing development of them as well as making their stories intersect in a sensible way.
Which reminds me that when I say you I don't actually mean you in this regard but the person who is GMing. The problem with a multiverse set up is that you can just pull any new storyline in at anytime. It can make things become almost like a soap opera as new characters come in constantly and old ones are required to reach new heights. Things just become messy overtime as everything starts to get dragged out and you can't keep track of things properly anymore.
That being said the final thing is, as stated in the top paragraph, to truly accomplish what you are aiming for there needs to be a great amount of back work and planning in regards to each character, their "universe", their entrance, their purpose. Although if you aren't going super nazi with making a masterpiece story it can be very very fun because you don't know what can happen next. At the same time since characters are already known you have a context for what is going on, and where it can be built on,(that is both as a player and GM) which provides the free flowing framework. Combine that with the fact that you can create your own character and he introduction of an anything goes scenarios due to crossovers you can have a really great thing going.
I can tell you that ninja and I both have some experience GMing and playing crossover (like) rps. I personally think he is quite good when all is said and done. Although he is an awesome player too. The two of us also have plenty of experience and could offer advice at the very least.
