I am a bit confused on the subject of spirit guides. I definitely believe that they exist...I have no doubts in that. However, I think I am having a problem with communication with my door keeper (ones main spirit guide). I have read almost everywhere that you should go on a visualized journey in your mind when you meditate and then meet them at the end.
I tried this a few times and I got my first results last night. I met a woman dressed in a white dress with green eyes, high cheekbones, and blonde hair. She said her name was Dalia. That's where the authenticity ends.
We talked but it seemed like I was simply producing all of conversation without meaning to. Actually, I know I was because she said a few things that could be looked up in history and all of them were untrue. So my question is how do I know for certain my guide is speaking to me and it's not myself?

u'll have to learn it urself. i personally have not talked to my spirit guide yet... i know that it is an old woman... possibly a native american (not sure though) my thoughts though are that she will talk to u when she feels need. a spirit guide isn't really supposed to tell u what to do... just help when u most need it.

Lol yes I know i'll have to learn it for myself. I am just curious what other people have done. I also know that they aren't supposed to tell me what to do >.>. I have done research ^^.

I'm one of those people who is still trying to get in contact with my spirit guides. I've gotten close a few times in that I can sense their presence, but I haven't actually gotten to the point where I can meet them yet.
It's a little frustrating, but I know I have to keep on practicing if I'm ever going to contact them and establish a solid connection (as you well know).
As to your problem, maybe, while you were able to meet one of your spirit guides, you still didn't have a strong enough connection to communicate properly, and so the messages and conversation got scrambled? I guess just keep on practicing. I'm told that it can take a lot of practices and meetings before you can establish a solid connection.
One thing that I do, is ask if I've established a good connection with the spirit guide when I feel their presence. I've yet to receive a positive answer, but I know that my connections feel like they're getting stronger. I'm not sure if you already do this or not, but if you don't, maybe it will help to confirm if you have a good connection with them?
Other than that, I really don't have any advice to offer, as I have yet to actually meet my spirit guides like you have. Good luck! heart

Meeting with your spirit guides and, essentially, getting to know them is important in order to establish a good connection between the two of you. Spirit guides, when you have a good relationship/connection with them, do exactly as their name suggests: they can provide you with guidance on those important issues in your life that you are struggling with. Now, they can't exactly SOLVE anything for you, persay, but they'll be there for you, listen to you, and advise you on things you can do and caution you when you're heading in a direction you probably want to avoid. However, in order for them to do that, you need a good, solid connection with them, otherwise their messages won't come through or will come through garbled. I hope this helps to answer your question. heart

Can a spirit guide be an elemental spirit, and how many does a person usually have/ does the number of guides vary?
In a thread I made, many were convinced that I astralprojected and met a spirit guide of mine. [the dream I had sounds very like what was stated by this thread creator, actually] But I am thuroughly convinced with every breathing inch of me that I am connected in some way to an Undine; whether one is guiding me, or any other way we could be connected.
[Two examples: An Undine exists in every body of water except the oceans. I feel strongly towards the element of water, but am afraid of the ocean. Once when I was in need of dire strength (I was about to break you could say), it spontaniously began to rain, on a day that there were no signs of rain at all.]

It's my belief that a spirit guide could be just about anything from animal to fairy to elemental to someone that, perhaps, you might have known in a previous lifetime. But people's beliefs on this will vary depending on who you speak with. I've never heard of a limit on the number of spirit guides you can have. Some people just have one, but I also know people who have three or four. The number of spirit guides and the kind of spirit guides you have can also change depending on you as a person. As you grow and change and face different things in life, your spirit guides might also change. I hope this helps. heart

It is said by many that your spirit guides do not wait for you to come into direct contact with them. They help you and speak to you while you sleep weather you remember it or not. I've also heard that they aid you in small ways during your day. Have you ever left your house for school or work and forgot something very very important? You take a few steps outside your house and then just all of a sudden the thing you forgot pops into your head. Some people say that is your spirit guide and by audibly thanking the spirit it strengthens your bond.

My friend has had contact with one of her spirit guides and she tells me that he had been getting quite frustrated with her because he kept trying to tell her things and it wasn't getting across to her because he couldn't get a strong enough connection for her to sense him.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think your connection/relationship with you spirit guides grows stronger once you have made contact with them, or do you think it remains the same and you just become more aware with them and the connection they already have with you? Let's discuss! heart

Let's discuss! heart To be honest i'm not sure. It seems that ever since i've made contact I have been more intuitive. I get random impulses to go places and do things that I wouldn't have done before and something meaningful usually happens. That and i've been getting interesting feelings lately. So I think I would have to say your connection grows stronger. Raymond Buckland said in his book on Spirit Communication that your guides are just as eager to speak with you as you are to speak with them. That suggests to me that they would want that connection so it could become stronger.

Yes, it is very similar to the concept of having a guardian angel. In fact, there are those that state they have angels as spirit guides. Personally, none of mine seem to be such, and my friend doesn't have an angel spirit guide either, but it's definitely possible. heart

Actually, my dear friend Lunai, you've gotten it a bit confused. Spirit guides are only the souls of humans who are in the spirit world. Most of them have ascended (finished reincarnating) some of them stop briefly in their reincarnation cycle to spend a few life times with you in spirit form. Everyone gets at least one spirit guide. I have three.
Everyone also has angels who visit from time to time. Angels have many jobs in this world and thus cannot stay with someone exclusively. They may work with many people/places/things at once. You don't get one specific guardian angel that you keep for always. You get different ones at different times, for different purposes.
You may also get elementals and fairies etc who visit you from time to time. They are not spirit guides, but it can be wonderful to explore relationships with them. Many are nice and helpful, but it is not their job to guide you on your life path like a spirit guide does. It's just a different kind of mutally beneficial relationship.
There are also totem animals. Everyone gets these. They help you to learn specific things at certain times of your life. They qualities represented by the animal is what you are supposed to gain. For example, the owl is for learning wisedom among other things. They stay with you for a very long time, but may change a few times in your life depending on what you need spiritually.
