Question for the older runners here. I am going to University Nebraska-Lincoln to run xc, 3k steeplechase, and the 3k and up!

Sounds awesome! I'm not hardcore enough to even think about running for college. confused
So you're starting there in the fall? How often do you practice? What is practice like? Tell me everything! I want to know what college XC is like.

cool! I hope to run at Miami University (Ohio). But if i get into the Oceanography program in Hawaii, then i would try and go for their DII team.....But Hawaii is really far from me.

I wish DIII gave scholarships for athletics, a lot of schools i want to go to have DIII athletics. crying

I'm currently on a D3 Team for running. I wish they gave scholarships as well but you make due. I am running for Rhodes College in Memphis Tennessee. At the end of my freshmen year I was .3 away from qualifying for nationals in the 400m Hurdles.

I pulled my groin at the end of April and ended my season a month earlier then planned. But I have 3 more years to do a lot more damage, and being the first year doing the 400 hurdles instead of 300 The first couple races were just experimental anyways.

My suggestion is don't worry too much about being D1, D2, or D3 go to the school that you like the most and fits you best. If you need the money, most schools will give you financial aid (and if it's not enough and you tell the admissions that you simply can not afford it) they will normally give you a bit more. Of course you won't get as much as you want but you have to be reasonable. Expect to come out of college with debt. I know I am. But I figure I'd worry about that once i graduate. Also once you are already at the school there are many scholarship opportunities within the schools community itself that you can apply for and receive for your following years as well.

So like I said, don't worry about the cost too much or the division of the school. If you love it there, they have the education you need, and you think you will be happy Go to that school.

Thats the only reason I'm at Rhodes College right now and too be honest, I really enjoy it here.

Although shouldn't you know by now where you are going? Unless you are a rising senior...
