Backstory

Episode 1

the Trade Federation has blockaded the planet of Naboo in hope of resolving a galactic trade dispute. Chancellor Valorum of the Galactic Republic secretly sends two Jedi Knights — Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan learner Obi-Wan Kenobi — to meet with the Trade Federation to settle the crisis. Unknown to them, the Trade Federation is in league with the mysterious Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who orders them to invade Naboo with their immense droid army and also to kill the two Jedi. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan escape and flee to the surface of Naboo, where they meet local Gungan outcast Jar Jar Binks. As Jar Jar brings them to an underwater Gungan settlement, the Trade Federation captures Naboo's leader, Queen Amidala. Through a Jedi mind trick, Qui-Gon secures a submarine, which he, Obi-Wan, and Jar Jar use to reach the capital of Naboo and rescue Queen Amidala and her escort. The group departs for Coruscant, the Galactic Republic's capital planet, to seek help from the Senate.

During the escape, the ship is attacked by the Federation blockade, forcing R2-D2, one of the ship's droids, to fix the shields. The attack damages the ship's hyperdrive, forcing the party to land on the desert planet of Tatooine for repairs. While searching for needed parts, Qui-Gon and a handmaiden named Padmé befriend young Anakin Skywalker, a nine-year-old human slave gifted in piloting and mechanics. Qui-Gon senses a strong presence of the Force in Anakin, and feels that he may be the "Chosen One" — an individual the Jedi believe will fulfill a prophecy by bringing balance to the Force. At Anakin's insistence, Qui-Gon enters Anakin into the Boonta Eve Podrace in a bid with Anakin's master, Watto, to gain the needed parts as well as Anakin's freedom. Anakin eludes several obstacles — including rival racer Sebulba — to win the race, gaining his freedom and bankrupting Watto. After hesitation, Anakin leaves his mother and his droid (C-3PO) behind on Tatooine to go with the Jedi. As the group prepares to depart, they are attacked by the Sith apprentice Darth Maul, who battles Qui-Gon until the heroes escape. On Coruscant, Qui-Gon informs the Jedi Council of the mysterious, well-trained attacker. The Council becomes concerned that this may indicate the reappearance of the Sith, an opposing order that followed the dark side of the Force. Qui-Gon informs the Council about Anakin, hoping that he can be trained as a Jedi. After testing the boy the Council refuses, worried that he is too old for training and that the fear and anger that he harbors will cloud his future. Meanwhile, Senator Palpatine of Naboo persuades Amidala to call a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum. The vote removes Valorum from power and leads to Palpatine's nomination for the position, which Amidala considers too late to be effective. To stop the Federation invasion by herself, the Queen decides to return to Naboo with her security team, the two Jedi, R2-D2, Anakin, and Jar Jar.

On Naboo, Padmé reveals herself as Queen Amidala and forms an alliance with the Gungans for the battle against the Trade Federation. The Gungans march into battle to divert the Federation army away from the capital, allowing the others to infiltrate the palace. Once inside the palace hangar, the Jedi free several Naboo pilots, who regain their starfighters and assault the Federation droid ship. As they make their way to the throne room, the infiltration team is confronted by Darth Maul. Qui-Gon and Obi Wan engage Maul while the others take an alternative route. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan duel with the Sith Lord amongst the catwalks of a massive power-generating reactor core. Obi-Wan is briefly delayed, separating him from Qui-Gon and Maul. Meanwhile, Queen Amidala and her forces fight their way into the palace and capture Nute Gunray, Viceroy of the Trade Federation. Anakin — inadvertently joining the dogfight in space — destroys the droid-control ship's reactor with proton torpedoes, which deactivates the droid army in the midst of taking Gungan prisoners. In the reactor core, Qui-Gon re-engages Darth Maul singlehandedly, but is mortally wounded. Obi-Wan catches up with and defeats Maul in another intense lightsaber battle. With his final breath, Qui-Gon instructs Obi-Wan to train Anakin to become a Jedi.

In the aftermath, the newly elected Chancellor Palpatine congratulates Queen Amidala on her victory and promises to watch Anakin's career with great interest. Meanwhile, the Jedi Council promotes Obi-Wan to the level of Jedi Knight, and Yoda reluctantly accepts Obi-Wan's request to train Anakin as his padawan. During Qui-Gon's funeral, Mace Windu and Yoda agree that Maul was killed by Obi-Wan. However, because there are always two Sith at any given time (a master and an apprentice), they believe that another Sith still exists, although who is that Sith is uncertain. A large celebration is held on Naboo to celebrate the world's liberation and the newborn alliance between the Naboo and the Gungans.

Episode 2

the Galactic Republic is in crisis. A separatist movement, led by former Jedi Master Count Dooku, has threatened the peace. Senator Padmé Amidala, former Queen of Naboo, returns to the Galactic Senate to vote against the creation of an Army of the Republic. Upon her arrival at Coruscant, she narrowly escapes an assassination attempt, a bomb placed on her ship. As a result, Chancellor Palpatine requests that she be put under the protection of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. That night, Zam Wesell, a bounty hunter, makes another attempt on Padmé's life, but Wesell is herself killed (to silence her) just after Obi-Wan and Anakin capture her. The Jedi Council sends Obi-Wan to investigate the murder, while Anakin is to protect Padmé by escorting her to Naboo. Anakin welcomes the opportunity; he often becomes angry at and frustrated with Obi-Wan's criticism, and is glad to have an opportunity to be alone with Padmé. Representative Jar Jar Binks assumes the Senator's duties in her absence.

The investigation leads Obi-Wan to the planet of Kamino, where he discovers that a secret clone army is being developed for the Republic. The Kaminoan Prime Minister tells him that this army was ordered some ten years ago by a Jedi Master named Sifo-Dyas, whom the Jedi Council believes to have been killed around the same time. A bounty hunter named Jango Fett had been hired to be the template for the clones. Obi-Wan meets Jango on Kamino, and believes that he is the killer he has been tracking. After unsuccessfully trying to capture Jango Fett, Obi-Wan places a tracking device on his ship and follows him to the planet of Geonosis. Meanwhile, Anakin and Padmé spend time together on Naboo, and Anakin reveals his love for her. Padmé resists, explaining that it would be impossible for the two of them to be together; she is a respected Senator, and the Jedi forbids marriage or any other form of attachment. Anakin is soon troubled by dreams in which his mother, Shmi, is in danger and dying. He asks Padmé to accompany him to Tatooine. Upon arriving, he learns that his mother had been kidnapped one month earlier by local Tusken Raiders. Anakin tracks her to a Tusken camp, where he finds her in poor condition, and within moments she dies in his arms. In a fit of rage, he slaughters the entire Tusken community. Anakin brings his mother's body back to her home, where her funeral is held.

On Geonosis, Obi-Wan learns that Count Dooku and Nute Gunray have built a new droid army and that Gunray has ordered the assassination of Padmé. Just before being captured, Obi-Wan relays this information to Anakin so that he can relay it to the Jedi Council on Coruscant. Once the Jedi learn of Dooku's army, Jedi Master Mace Windu leads a team to Geonosis. Meanwhile, Jar Jar Binks calls for Chancellor Palpatine to be given emergency powers, with which he can call the recently discovered clone army into battle. Back on Geonosis, Count Dooku tries to persuade Obi-Wan to join him, warning him that the Senate is secretly under the control of a mysterious Sith Lord by the name of Darth Sidious. Obi-Wan refuses to believe him, saying that the Jedi would have known if that was the case. Upon learning that Obi-Wan is in trouble, Anakin and Padmé go to Geonosis, but they are captured during their infiltration of a droid factory, despite Anakin's valiant efforts. They join Obi-Wan in an arena-like complex where three huge creatures are unleashed on them for their execution. During their struggle, Mace Windu arrives with the Jedi, and they battle the droid army. Just as defeat for the Jedi seems imminent, Yoda arrives with the Republic's new clone army.

A large battle erupts between the Republic's clone forces and the Separatists' droid army. Count Dooku attempts to escape, but Obi-Wan and Anakin track him to a secret hangar, where they engage him in combat. Dooku quickly injures Obi-Wan and cuts off Anakin's right arm. Yoda arrives and engages Dooku in lightsaber combat. Dooku, realizing he may be outmatched, causes a support pylon to nearly fall on Anakin and Obi-Wan; Yoda uses the Force to stop this, allowing Dooku to escape with the plans for a new weapon, the Death Star. In a desolate industrial district on Coruscant, he meets with his master, Darth Sidious, who is pleased that the war has begun "as planned". Dooku is revealed to be the apprentice Sith Lord, Darth Tyranus. On Coruscant, Obi-Wan informs the Jedi Council of Dooku's warning that Darth Sidious is controlling the Senate. All of them, including Yoda, are surprisingly hesitant to believe this, stating that the Dark Side is capable of creating fear and mistrust. Yoda and Windu also agree that the Dark Side is now clouding everything, and that they should closely monitor the Senate. Meanwhile, Palpatine oversees the launching of a massive clone trooper force. On Naboo, Anakin (with a new mechanical hand) and Padmé hold a secret wedding, to which only the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 are witnesses.

Episode 3

the galaxy is in the midst of the war. Chancellor Palpatine has been kidnapped by the Separatists' second-in-command, General Grievous. Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi lead a mission to rescue him. After killing Count Dooku and freeing the Chancellor, the Jedi attempt to escape, but are captured by General Grievous. Anakin and Obi-Wan manage to break free, but Grievous escapes and traps the Jedi and the Chancellor inside the severely damaged cruiser. Anakin is forced to crash-land the ship on one of Coruscant's landing tracks.

Upon his return, Anakin is reunited with his wife, Padmé Amidala, who tells him that she is pregnant. Despite Padmé's worries over their secret marriage, Anakin is overjoyed at this news, and the couple makes plans to raise their child. However, Anakin is troubled by visions of Padmé dying in childbirth, visions similar to those he had of his mother just before she died. Later, Obi-Wan privately tells Anakin that the Council wants him to spy on the Chancellor because they believe him to be corrupt, an order Anakin resents since the Chancellor has become a mentor to him. As the Chancellor's bodyguard, Anakin develops a close friendship with Palpatine, who subtly manipulates Anakin in their discussions, making him distrust the Jedi. Palpatine claims to know of an ability to prevent death.

Obi-Wan is sent to Utapau, where he engages and kills General Grievous. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Palpatine reveals himself to Anakin as the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who has been controlling the Republic and the Separatist movement. Anakin leaves to expose him to the Jedi Council. Mace Windu arrives at the Chancellor's office shortly thereafter and eventually subdues Palpatine through a lightsaber duel. Just as Anakin arrives, Windu is about to slay the Chancellor. Anakin quickly disarms Windu, believing the Chancellor holds the only way to save his wife. Windu is consumed by Sidious' torrents of force lightning, forcing him out a window and to his death. Darth Sidious takes Anakin as his Sith apprentice and gives him the name Darth Vader. He then orders Vader to kill all Jedi within the Jedi Temple, then to go to the Mustafar system and eliminate the Separatist leaders.

Darth Sidious orders clone troopers across the galaxy to turn against their Jedi Generals by enacting a pre-programmed directive, Order 66. Numerous Jedi across the galaxy are seen being exterminated, although both Yoda and Obi-Wan survive. Darth Vader slaughters all the children in the Jedi Temple. Afterwards, he goes to Padmé and tells her the Jedi have attempted to take over the Republic and leaves for Mustafar, where he slaughters the Separatist leaders. Senator Bail Organa rescues Obi-Wan and Yoda, and brings them to the Jedi Temple before heading to the Senate building. Palpatine informs the Senate of a Jedi plot to overthrow the Republic. As a result, he announces that the Republic will be reorganized into the Galactic Empire. In the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan and Yoda stand in shock over the bodies of the younglings and reconfigure a signal to warn all Jedi to keep away. Obi-Wan looks into the security recordings and, to his horror, sees a hologram of Vader carrying out the orders of Darth Sidious and kneeling to him. Though he initially refuses, Obi-Wan eventually agrees to find and kill Vader. Obi-Wan then meets with Padmé, who refuses to believe his claims about Anakin's fall to the dark side. When she departs for Mustafar, Obi-Wan secretly stows away onboard.

When the couple is reunited, Padmé pleads with Vader to leave public life with her, but he refuses, believing that he can overthrow Palpatine so that he and Padmé can rule the galaxy together. Vader sees Obi-Wan emerge from Padmé's ship, and suspects her of betraying him. Enraged, he uses the Force to choke Padmé into unconsciousness. Obi-Wan and Vader break into a vicious lightsaber duel. The duel brings them out of the facility to unprotected areas of the volcano planet. Obi-Wan eventually gains the advantage of higher ground, and when Vader attempts to attack again, Obi-Wan slices off both of his legs and his left arm in two swift cuts. Vader tumbles down the embankment and rolls to a stop at the edge of the lava. He catches on fire, sustaining near-fatal third-degree burns and severe lung damage. Obi-Wan leaves Mustafar with the hurt Padmé and Anakin's lightsaber. Darth Sidious arrives on Mustafar a short time later and rescues Vader from the brink of death.

Padmé is given medical assistance, and although she is physically intact, her will to live is gone. She delivers twins, a boy and a girl and gives them the names "Luke" and "Leia". Just as Padme tells Obi-Wan that there is still good in Anakin, she dies. On Coruscant, Vader's missing limbs and damaged body parts are replaced by cybernetic prostheses and implants. Vader is put into a full suit of black armor and is sealed in a respirator mask, which will allow him to survive his injuries. When Vader asks Sidious about Padmé's condition, he tells Vader that, in his anger, Vader himself killed Padmé. Vader unleashes a furious scream of mournful rage and destroys droids and equipment throughout the room with the Force while Sidious looks on with an evil grin. Aboard the Tantive IV, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Bail Organa agree to keep the children hidden and separated. Obi-Wan and Yoda will watch and wait until the time is ready for the Skywalker children to do their part in the battle against the Sith. Leia is taken to Alderaan to live with the Queen and Bail Organa, and Luke is transferred to Tatooine to live with Owen and Beru. The film concludes with Owen and Beru holding Luke while staring out over the desert at Tatooine's twin suns.

Episode 4

the galaxy is in a state of civil war. The Rebel Alliance has stolen plans to the Galactic Empire's Death Star, a space station capable of annihilating a planet. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan has possession of the plans, and before she is captured by the Empire, she hides them, along with a holographic recording into a "droid" named R2-D2. The small droid escapes with his humanoid partner C-3PO to the surface of the desert planet Tatooine below. On Tatooine, the droids are captured by Jawas, who sell them to moisture farmer Owen Lars and his nephew, Luke Skywalker. While Luke cleans R2-D2, he accidentally triggers part of a holographic message, in which Princess Leia requests the help of "Obi-Wan Kenobi."

Later, R2-D2 escapes, causing Luke and C-3PO to go out after him. Along the way, they meet the "old wizard" Ben Kenobi, who reveals himself to be Obi-Wan. He takes them back to his hut and tells of his days as a Jedi Knight, and explains to Luke about a mysterious energy field called "the Force". He also tells Luke about his father, Anakin Skywalker, gives him his father's lightsaber, and tells him that Anakin had been "betrayed and murdered" by Obi-Wan's former pupil, Darth Vader. Obi-Wan then views Princess Leia's message, in which she begs him to take R2-D2 and the Death Star plans to Alderaan, where her father will be able to retrieve and analyze them. Obi-Wan asks Luke to accompany him to Alderaan and to learn the ways of the Force. After discovering that his home has been destroyed and his aunt and uncle killed by Imperial stormtroopers, Luke agrees to go with Obi-Wan to Alderaan, and to learn to become a Jedi like his father. At the seedy Mos Eisley Spaceport, the group finds a smuggler named Han Solo, who agrees to transport them on his ship, the Millennium Falcon. Attacked by stormtroopers as they board the ship, they make a hasty escape and prepare for a hyperspace leap to Alderaan.

Meanwhile, Leia has been imprisoned on the Death Star and has resisted interrogation. Grand Moff Tarkin, the Death Star's commanding officer, destroys her home planet of Alderaan as a means of demonstrating the power of the Empire's new weapon. The planet's destruction is felt by Obi-Wan aboard the Millennium Falcon while he is instructing Luke about the Force. Arriving at the coordinates for the planet, they are bombarded instead by rubble from the explosion. Following a TIE Fighter toward what appears to be a small moon, they are captured by the Death Star's tractor beam. Using hidden compartments to surprise Imperial stormtroopers and donning their armor as disguises, Han and Luke escape to a command room to wait while Obi-Wan attempts to disable the tractor beam. While they are there, R2-D2 discovers that Princess Leia is scheduled for termination. Han and Luke stage a rescue on the cell block, but are forced into a garbage chute when their escape route is cut off. Making their way back to the Millenium Falcon, their path is cleared by the spectacle of a lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Warning the dark lord that he will become "more powerful than you can possibly imagine", the old Jedi allows himself to be struck down as the others escape toward a hidden rebel base. A beacon hidden aboard the ship allows the Empire to track their route.

After landing on Yavin IV's moon, the Death Star plans are analyzed by the Rebel Alliance and a potential weakness is found, one which will require the use of single-man fighters to slip past the Death Star's formidable defenses. Luke joins the assault team while Han collects his reward for the Princess' rescue. The attack proceeds as planned, but suffers heavy losses without a successful torpedo hit on the small thermal exhaust port which would create a chain reaction. During Luke's run, Darth Vader engages the Rebels in ship-to-ship combat, but is sent flying out of control by the sudden re-appearance of the Millennium Falcon. Guided by the voice of Obi-Wan, Luke shuts off his targeting computer and "uses the Force" to fire the successful shot which destroys the Death Star seconds before it could attack the Rebel base. At a grand ceremony, Princess Leia awards medals to Luke and Han for their heroism in the battle.

Episode 5

the Galactic Empire has pursued the Rebel Alliance across the galaxy, forcing them to establish a secret base on the remote ice planet Hoth. The Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader sends robotic probes in search of the base and its commander, Luke Skywalker. While Luke is patrolling near the base, he is knocked unconscious by an indigenous predator, the Wampa. Back at the base, the smuggler-pilot Han Solo announces his intention to leave the Rebels and pay the debt he owes to the gangster Jabba the Hutt, much to the displeasure of Princess Leia. After Han discovers that Luke has not returned from patrol, he delays his departure and leaves the base to search for him. After escaping the creature's lair, Luke is overcome by the cold and views the apparition of his late mentor, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who instructs him to receive training by Jedi Master Yoda on the planet Dagobah. Han finds Luke, and provides him shelter until they are rescued the following morning. Before being discovered and destroyed, an Imperial Probe Droid transmits the location of the base to the Imperial fleet. Darth Vader orders an attack while the Rebels set up infantry trenches and an energy shield to protect them from the Empire's orbital bombardment.

The Imperial forces land their ground assault walkers beyond the energy shield and Luke leads his squadron of flying speeders into battle. However, the Imperial forces eventually overpower the Rebels and destroy the generator powering the energy shield, capturing the Rebel base. Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and their droid C-3PO flee on board the Millennium Falcon. However, the Falcon hyperdrive is damaged and it cannot escape the Imperial blockade in space. During the confusion, they enter an asteroid field; Han Solo pilots the Millennium Falcon deeper into the field, eventually landing inside an asteroid crater. Meanwhile, Luke and his astro droid R2-D2 escape Hoth in Luke's X-wing fighter. After a crash landing on Dagobah, Luke meets a wizened, green little creature who reveals himself to be Yoda. Meanwhile, inside the asteroid cave, Han Solo and Princess Leia argue while repairing the ship, eventually leading to a tender kiss. However, they are forced to escape what they thought was a "cave," which is actually the esophagus of a gigantic space slug. Han evades pursuit cleverly and stealthily. He sets course for Cloud City, a mining colony run by Han's friend, Lando Calrissian. On Dagobah, Luke undergoes Yoda's rigorous lessons about the metaphysical nature of the Force. Luke has a vision of Han and Leia in danger and agony. Luke wants to rescue them, but Yoda and the ghost of Obi-Wan warn of the dangers of rashly leaving, because Luke is still susceptible to the powerful temptation of the Dark Side. Nevertheless, Luke departs from Dagobah and promises Yoda he will return to complete his training. Upon arrival at Cloud City, Han's party is welcomed by Lando Calrissian. After agreeing to help Han repair his ship, Lando invites him and the others to a meal. When they enter the dining room, they are captured by Darth Vader. Lando insists he was forced to conspire with the Empire to prevent them from invading and occupying the city.

In captivity, Han is tortured to lure Luke to the city. Vader orders a carbon-freezing chamber prepared to freeze Luke, which will hold him in suspended animation for transport to the Emperor. The process is tested on Han Solo. As Han is lowered into the machine, Leia declares her love for him. He is frozen in carbonite and handed over to bounty hunter Boba Fett, who intends to return his quarry to Jabba the Hutt for a large reward. Meanwhile, Luke lands at Cloud City and is mis-directed into the carbon-freezing chamber. Luke meets Vader and engages him in combat. While escorting their prisoners, Vader's Imperial troopers are captured by Lando's private security force, who set Lando and the others free. Lando, despite nearly being killed by a furious Chewbacca, insists that there is still a chance to save Han, and along the way they find R2-D2. The group pursues Boba Fett and Han's frozen form through Cloud City, but arrive just as the bounty hunter's ship flies away. After a desperate chase, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando, and the two droids make their escape on the Millennium Falcon. Meanwhile, Vader and Luke's fierce lightsaber duel brings them to a narrow platform above the city's central air shaft. After gaining the advantage, Vader cuts off Luke's dueling hand along with his lightsaber. With Luke cornered and defenseless, Vader informs Luke that he does not yet know the truth about his father. Luke claims that Vader killed him. Vader answers:
“ No, I am your father. ”

Luke screams in denial. Vader tries to persuade Luke to join him, embrace the Dark Side of the Force, and overthrow the Emperor with him. Luke refuses, lets go, and falls off the platform into the abyss, signifying that he would rather die than join him. In freefall, Luke is sucked into an air vent, shoots out of the underbelly of the floating city, and lands on an antenna hanging beneath. In the Millennium Falcon, Leia senses Luke's distress through the Force and orders Lando to pilot them back to Cloud City. After saving Luke and leaving the planet, they are pursued by Darth Vader's flagship. R2-D2, who discovered that the hyperdrive was merely de-activated while searching the city's central computer, reactivates it and the Falcon escapes into hyperspace. Aboard a Rebel medical frigate, Luke is fitted with an artificial hand as Lando and Chewbacca set out in the Falcon to locate Han Solo.

Episode 6

the Galactic Empire has been working on the construction of a new armored space station which is to be even larger and more powerful than the first Death Star. Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Princess Leia Organa, C-3PO, and R2-D2 return to Tatooine in an attempt to rescue Han Solo from the gangster Jabba the Hutt. Leia, disguised as a bounty hunter named Boushh, attempts to secretly free Solo, who had been encased in carbonite at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, only to be discovered and captured by Jabba soon after. Several days later, Luke arrives to make one final plea to Jabba to release Solo. Luke is also captured and is sent with Solo and the others to the Great Pit of Carkoon to be slowly consumed by the Sarlacc. With the help of R2-D2, Luke escapes and a large battle erupts. During the battle, Leia strangles Jabba and Solo accidentally knocks Boba Fett into the Sarlacc pit. Following this, Luke blasts Jabba's sail barge with its own deck cannon, and all of the heroes manage to escape before it explodes.

Luke then returns to Dagobah to complete his Jedi training, but he finds Yoda is ill. He tells Luke that no other training is required and all that remains to be done is to confront his father, Darth Vader — Yoda then dies. The spirit form of Obi-Wan Kenobi then appears and confirms that Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, a former Jedi who was turned to the dark side of the Force. It is also revealed that Leia is Luke's twin sister, hidden from Anakin and separated at birth to protect them both from the Emperor.

Meanwhile, the entire Rebel Alliance is meeting to devise an attack strategy. As part of the attack, Luke and his companions (whom he has now rejoined after leaving Dagobah) must deactivate the shield generator on the forest moon of Endor which is projecting a protective shield up to the orbiting and incomplete Death Star. On Endor, Luke and his companions encounter a tribe of Ewoks, primitive yet intelligent indigenous forest creatures of Endor. With the help of C-3PO, they are able to forge an alliance with the forest creatures. Later, Luke decides that the time has come for him to face Vader. He confesses to Leia the truth about her and Vader, and that he has to try to save the man who was once their father. He surrenders peacefully to Vader and unsuccessfully tries to convince his father to abandon the dark side. They go to the Death Star and meet the Emperor, who reveals that the Rebel Alliance is walking into a trap. On the forest moon, the Rebels — led by Solo and Leia — enter the shield generator control facility only to be taken prisoner by waiting Imperial forces. Once they are led out of the bunker, however, the Ewoks then spring a surprise counterattack. A desperate ground battle begins with the Rebels and Ewoks fighting the Imperial forces.

During the strike team's assault, the Rebel fleet emerges from hyperspace for the battle over Endor, only to discover that the shield of the Death Star is still functioning. An intense space battle takes place as the Rebel fleet battles to give the surface party more time to complete their mission of deactivating the Death Star's shield. During the battle, the Death Star is revealed to be operational; its superlaser is fired at the Rebel fleet and obliterates a Rebel star cruiser. On the Death Star, the Emperor tempts Luke to give in to his anger. A ferocious lightsaber duel erupts between Luke and his father. In the midst of combat, Vader reads Luke's feelings and learns that Luke has a twin sister. When Vader toys with the notion of turning Leia to the dark side, Luke gives in to his anger and gains the upper hand in the battle, slicing off Vader's right robotic hand in a rage in one swift cut. However, despite the Emperor's goading, Luke refuses to kill his father, realizing that he is traveling down his father's path towards the dark side, and declares himself a Jedi. Upon realizing that Luke cannot be turned, the Emperor uses Force lightning against him to torture and attempt to kill him. Deeply affected by the sight of his son dying before him, Vader repents and turns on the Emperor, throwing him down a reactor shaft to his death. At the same time, however, the Emperor's Force lightning causes fatal injuries to Vader (Anakin) and short-circuits his breathing system. Knowing that there is no hope for his own survival, Anakin asks Luke to take his mask off. Luke removes the helmet, revealing the pale and scarred face of his father. Anakin says that Luke was right about him, and asks Luke to tell his sister this. With those final words, Anakin dies.

Back on Endor, the strike team finally destroys the shield generator. The Rebel fleet seizes the opportunity to launch a final assault on the Death Star in space. Lando leads Wedge Antilles and his fighter group into the bowels of the Death Star and they fire at the main reactor, causing its collapse. Luke, with the body and armor of Anakin, escapes the Death Star in an Imperial shuttle. Moments later, Wedge in his X-Wing and Lando in the Millennium Falcon emerge from the Death Star as well, just as the Death Star explodes. Back on Endor, Leia reassures Han Solo of her love and reveals to him that Luke is actually her brother. That evening, Luke cremates the remains of his father in a funeral pyre on Endor. The entire galaxy celebrates the fall of the Emperor and the Rebel victory over the Empire. On Endor, Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, and the rest of the rebellion, along with the Ewoks, celebrate the victory as well. During the celebration, Luke catches sight of the spirit figures of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and the redeemed Anakin Skywalker, who look proudly on him.

Jedi Knight

Kyle is meeting a droid named 8t88 ('88' for short) in a cantina on Nar Shaddaa. Kyle is informed by 88 that his father, Morgan Katarn, was killed by a Dark Jedi named Jerec. He escapes a gun to the (from a Gran) and chases 88 through the streets of Nar Shaddaa for a stolen data disk meant only for Kyle from his father.

After recovering the disk and wounding 8t88, Kyle flies to his father's home and finds that it has been infiltrated by an Imperial force. He makes his way to the workshop, where he recovers a lightsaber from WeeGee, the family droid, compelling him on a journey to confront his father's murderers and to discover his own latent Force abilities. While on this journey, Kyle learns that seven Dark Jedi (Yun, Pic, Gorc, Boc, Maw, Sariss, and Jerec, the leader), his father's killers, are intent on finding the Valley of the Jedi, a focal point for Jedi power in the universe and a Jedi burial ground.

Kyle embarks on a journey to find the location of the Planet of the Jedi. He visits the city of Barons Hed, fighting numerous Imperial Probe Droids and other Imperial thugs. After progressing through the city's outskirts and the Imperial fortress he reaches 8t88 just as 88 has finished transmitting the coordinates for the Planet of the Jedi to Jerec. Before he can attack 88, Yun, the youngest Dark Jedi, intervenes. Kyle defeats Yun but does not kill him, allowing him to escape. After this Kyle fights his way out of the palace past numerous stormtroopers and a Kell dragon.

Kyle then tracks down 88 to a large Imperial ship and fights his way through the fuel station to reach the vessel. Progressing through the ship Kyle finally finds 88, but when he approaches the lifeless droid with his gun its head falls off; he then turns around to face Gorc and Pic (who were responsible for killing 88 ). The Dark Jedi twins attack Kyle at the same time, but he kills them both. Jan retrieves Kyle from the top of the ship and they fly back to Morgan Katarn's workshop. Kyle uses 8t88's head to recover the map to the Valley, as the original map had been destroyed by Yun before their duel.

Arriving at Ruusan, the Planet of the Jedi, Kyle makes his way through the vast Imperial defences confronted by Stormtroopers, Imperial defense systems, flying scorpions, and man-eating fish. When Kyle finally does make it to the top of the Imperial tower he is confronted by Maw, and the two battle. Maw is knocked down, but continues to taunt Kyle about his father. Kyle strikes down Maw with tears in his eyes. Jerec appears; he has captured Jan. Jerec tells Kyle to kill Jan to complete his entrance into the dark side.

Kyle spares his friend and in anger Jerec shoots a destructive blast at Kyle using the force. Kyle falls down backwards, and crawls away to the cargo ship which begins to fall towards the valley floor far below. Kyle is stuck on the falling ship, but makes his way to the docking bay where his ship, the Moldy Crow, is docked and escapes. Kyle crash lands the Crow and is knocked unconscious. He awakens as the captive of Sariss, Boc, and Yun. Boc smashes Kyle's lightsaber in a hysterical fit. Sariss decides to execute him, and tells Boc to go inform Jerec that Kyle "will soon join the dead." But as she makes her swing, Yun blocks it and is mortally wounded by her. When Sariss asks why, Yun replies, "He is a Jedi, he deserves a battle." Kyle takes Yun's gold saber and defeats Sariss, and uses the same lightsaber for the rest of the game.

Kyle then proceeds through yet more Imperial defences to the Valley excavation site, making his way to the core. He finds Jan tied up and frees her, but suddenly Boc appears and duels Kyle. Kyle defeats him. At this point Jerec has already entered the core of the valley to meditate. As Kyle approaches it Jerec bursts out. The two have a final showdown. Jerec is defeated and has his saber knocked out of his hand. He beckons Kyle to kill him, but Kyle instead tosses Jerec his saber back. Jerec then seizes this chance and lunges at Kyle. Kyle raises his lightsaber and Jerec, carrying the momentum of his lunge, is cut into two. Kyle and Jan look on as the trapped spirits of countless Jedi fly around the Valley are freed. Then as a last show of respect to his father he carves statues of his father and his father's friend Rahn (who was killed by Jerec) with his lightsaber.

Kyle Katarn has taken on an apprentice, Mara Jade, who like him does not wish to be taught under Luke Skywalker. Along with practicing Jedi techniques, they also work for the New Republic at one of its bases. The base on Altyr 5 is attacked by the Remnants of the Empire using bombardment by weapon stations, disguised as a pair of asteroids. Kyle fights his way through the invaders and lands on one of the Imperial asteroid stations, and after bypassing the defenses destroys it and its companion.

After escaping the asteroid and returning to Altyr 5, Kyle reveals to Mara that he has discovered references to the location of a Sith temple on Dromund Kaas. He leaves Mara and the New Republic behind to investigate the Temple, telling Mara that he has taught her all he can.

Mara is left to grow in the Force and work on New Republic assignments without Kyle. Her first job is to assist in a munitions deal with Ka'Pa the Hutt. After refusing to even listen to Mara, she finds an alternate route into Ka'Pa's palace Mara corners Ka'Pa and makes a deal with him: if she can steal surveillance equipment from Takara, Ka'Pa will supply the New republic with weapons. Mara tries to infiltrate Takaras organization through his lieutenant Abron Mar in the Katraasi space port, but is caught and placed under arrest. Breaking out of Takara's prison, Mara locates the surveillance equipment and escapes, but not before fighting a Rancor. Mara then is tasked with guarding the new shipment along with a Jedi holocron through an unguarded sector. The New Republic vessel is attacked by pirates and its cargo stolen, the Holocron meant for the pirate leader's art collection. Mara then infiltrates the pirates organization by means of their ship and shipping docks. Kaerobani turns out to be the leader of the organization but his guards are no match for Mara as she steals back the Holocron and escapes.

With Ka'Pa, Takara and Kaerobani all out of the way, Mara follows Kyle to swampy Dromund Kaas where he has been turned to the Dark side. Mara progresses through the swamps and the notably spooky Sith temple. Finding Kyle, she learns that he could not resist the power of the Temple and let it begin to corrupt him. Mara ultimately turns him back from the Dark Path.

Kyle and his partner Jan Ors investigate what is assumed to be an abandoned Imperial outpost on Kejim. It turns out to be far from empty, and Kyle and Jan fight their way through the base, discovering an operation involving crystals used in lightsabers. Kyle and Jan escape the planet and travel to Artus Prime to try and cripple the Remnant's lightsaber crystal mining operation. Kyle succeeds in doing this, but Jan is captured by two Dark Jedi: Desann and Tavion. Desann gives Tavion the order to kill Jan and they leave shortly afterwards.

In order to avenge Jans' death, Kyle travels to the Valley of the Jedi to regain his Force powers. He then goes to the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV to regain his lightsaber from Luke Skywalker. Following this, Kyle travels to Nar Shaddaa to track down a crime lord named Reelo Baruk who has links to Desann. After fighting past a host of Baruk's thugs, Kyle meets and frees Lando Calrissian, who escapes to Bespin (where Reelo's smugglers are smuggling cortosis from) on Lando's ship, the Lady Luck. In the process they kill Reelo.

Lando drops Kyle off at the bottom of Cloud City. Kyle works his way upwards, encountering smugglers and Reborn: Dark Jedi. Kyle fights several Reborn, and on the upper level stormtroopers. He then meets Tavion, who is about to board a ship headed for the Doomgiver: Imperial Admiral Galak Fyyar's ship. After besting Tavion in a duel, Tavion tells Kyle that Jan is alive and on the Doomgiver. In exchange for her life, Tavion allows Kyle to use her ship to travel there.

After fighting past some stormtroopers on the Doomgiver, Kyle meets up with Luke Skywalker, who is searching for Desann. After defeating some Reborn together, they part ways. Kyle defeats another Dark Jedi: a shadowtrooper wearing lightsaber-resistant armor. He continues through the ship, finding Jan in the detention block. Before using an escape pod to land on Yavin IV, Kyle fights Fyyar, who is wearing cortosis-resistant armor. In spite of the armor, Kyle defeats him.

On the surface of Yavin IV Kyle and Jan find the Jedi Academy under attack. Kyle travels through the swamps to try and get to the Jedi Academy whilst Jan heads to a hangar to help in the aerial battle. After some confrontations with Shadowtroopers, Kyle finds the Academy overrun with Imperial forces. With the help of New Republic troops he fends them off. After traveling through some underground tunnels, Kyle finds Desann. After Desann rejects an offer to rejoin the Jedi given by Kyle, the two duel. Kyle succeeds in killing him. When he meets up with Luke, Kyle decides that he will keep his lightsaber.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Jaden Korr, a new student recently arriving at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin IV. Jaden, along with fellow initiate Rosh Penin, becomes an apprentice to Kyle Katarn (the protagonist of Jedi Knight). As a Jedi Apprentice he is dispatched to accompany Kyle on various peace-keeping missions across the galaxy, many of which involve battling an emerging Sith cult known as the Disciples of Ragnos who are stealing Force energy from Force-rich locations across the galaxy.

Eventually Jaden learns that the Sith Cult is lead by Tavion, the former apprentice of Kyle's old arch-nemesis Desann from Jedi Outcast. Seeking revenge against Kyle, Tavion has recovered a Sith artifact known as the Scepter of Ragnos, which has the power to drain and release Force energy. Seeking to restore the Sith and destroy the Jedi, Tavion plans to resurrect the ancient Sith Lord Marka Ragnos by fueling his long dead body with a massive concentration of stolen Force energy.

Rosh is rescued by Kyle and Jaden and returned to the light side. Jaden heads to the Tomb of Ragnos to prevent the resurrection, while Kyle takes Rosh back to safety. Jaden confronts Tavion, then engages in a final duel with the resurrected Marka Ragnos (whose Force ghost possesses Tavion's body). After defeating Ragnos, Jaden destroys the Scepter, banishing Ragnos' spirit back into its tomb. Jaden leaves the temple, and bringing down the entrance so that no one will enter again. He meets up with Kyle and Luke and explains what happened.

The Yuuzhan Vong war

(25ABY-29ABY)

Origins

"We are from another galaxy, Jedi Horn. We crossed the starless night for age upon age."
―Yu'shaa

There is a slight possibility that, as early as 3,963 BBY, at least one Yuuzhan Vong scout had reached the outskirts of the galaxy. In that year, a group of Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders under Canderous Ordo encountered what would later come to be known as a coralskipper, disguised as an asteroid in the Crispin system. It fled beyond the edge of the galaxy once discovered. The ship may have been the first ever to enter the galaxy, thus making "first contact" millennia before their known arrival.

The Yuuzhan Vong spent literally hundreds of thousands of years in transit from their galaxy, a single warship or worldship that traveled fractionally faster than the rest of the fleet would arrive thousands of years earlier. Furthermore, without a large fleet and yammosk coordination, the mothership probably would have been lost transiting the entrance to the galaxy, leaving behind only a few small fighters.

Between 229 and 89 BBY, the living planet Zonama Sekot—a seed of Yuuzhan'tar—arrived in the Gardaji Rift.

In 32 BBY, an advanced force of Yuuzhan Vong—termed "Far-Outsiders" by the planet's inhabitants—discovered Zonama. Noting the similarity to Yuuzhan'tar (without drawing the connection), the advanced force attempted to colonize it. However, when the Vong attempted to settle, Zonama Sekot's biosphere killed off the Vong flora and fauna, provoking outrage from them. Although Sekot attempted to negotiate with them, they began an assault upon the planet.

After two years of Sekotan defense, at a high cost, the assault was called off after the arrival of the Jedi Knight Vergere, who demanded the attack cease in return for going with the Vong. Agreeing with the ceasefire, the Vong force departed with the Jedi towards the Unknown Regions. When he learned of Zonama Sekot, Supreme Overlord Quoreal began to waver. The Yuuzhan Vong soon learned that Zonama Sekot was no longer in its original system, and there was no evidence that the planet had been destroyed. Worried about the possibility of once more encountering Zonama Sekot, he developed the opinion that it would be best to move on to another galaxy. However, Shimrra Jamaane, under the influence of Onimi and with the support of some of the more aggressive Domains, launched a coup. Shimrra Jamaane murdered Quoreal and took his place, ensuring that the invasion would go forth as planned.

Information of Vong activity within the galaxy for the next few decades is scarce. In 27 BBY the Vong engaged in several battles with the Chiss, led by Mitth'raw'nuruodo. Around 25 BBY, they established a base on the planet Bimmiel. After the formation of the Galactic Empire, Imperial scientists ran into the Vong on that planet. As one of Emperor Palpatine's justifications for maintaining the Imperial Starfleet after the end of the Clone Wars was to ward off the threat of extra-galactic invasion, he may have known about the approaching Yuuzhan Vong fleet.

Although it is not known for sure if the upper echelons of the Imperial government knew about the Vong, it is known that at least one officer did. Sometime between being dispatched to the Unknown Regions in 3 ABY, and his return in 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn encountered the advanced Vong force hiding in the Unknown Regions. The threat of the advancing invaders was one of his primary motivations to reunify the Empire, as he felt that the Empire stood a much better chance against the Vong than did the New Republic. Furthermore, Thrawn knew about the Yuuzhan Vong, though not by name, when he was a Commander in the Chiss Defense Force. The Vong attacked a fleet under the command of Admiral Ar'alani, and were driven back, though only after a heated battle.

The Vong of the advanced scouts themselves shared the sentiment that the Empire would be a strong foe. After the formation of the Imperial Interim Council in 11 ABY, following the final death of Palpatine, Vong agent Nom Anor was tasked to infiltrate the Council. He did so and manipulated its leader, Xandel Carivus, arranging the deaths of many Councilors and furthering the internecine strifes that led to the fatal fracturing of the Imperial Remnant.

It is roughly around this time that the Vong began meddling in the high politics of the Ssi Ruuvi Imperium. They installed one of their own, E'thinaa, into a high military position, and manipulated the rise to power of the Keeramak with the goal of eventual use of the Ssi-Ruuvi in their invasion.

In 24 ABY, Vong agent Yomin Carr infiltrated the ExGal Society, stationing himself at the ExGal-4 base located along Vector Prime at Belkadan.

Preliminaries

The Solo twins evading Yuuzhan Vong coralskippers during the Battle of Dubrillion.

"It is as if the Yuuzhan Vong want to inflict pain and suffering just to see how long it takes for their slaves to break and run. If that is true, this invasion is going to be worse than any war of political or economic gain. Victory for the Yuuzhan Vong demands that every sentient creature live in pain."
―Corran Horn

On the distant world Rhommamool, the invaders, through Nom Anor, disguised as the leader of the Red Knights of Life, stirred up rebellion between Rhommamool and its neighbor Osarian to distract the New Republic from its more important attacks. The same agent was also responsible for infecting Mara Jade Skywalker and a hundred others with Coomb spores, a fatal Yuuzhan Vong disease.

Around this time, a Praetorite Vong worldship commanded by Prefect Da'Gara touched down on the icy and unknown planet Helska 4, where they unloaded a massive, tentacled creature known as a yammosk, or "war coordinator". It was by using this beast that the Yuuzhan Vong coordinated the attack on Sernpidal, using the ancient Yo'gand's Core tactic to crash the planet's moon Dobido into it. This killed all Sernpidalians that had not managed to escape, as well as the famous Wookiee Chewbacca, who had been on a delivery run for Lando Calrissian.

On Belkadan, Yomin Carr began killing many of the ExGal-4 workers, save the few that went to Helska 4 to investigate the extragalactic object that had landed there. He also unleashed deadly toxins into the atmosphere, making it virtually uninhabitable, and killing all local wildlife.

Da'Gara's worldship was also noticed by the Dozen-and-Two Avengers, a Republic starfighter squadron led by Kyp Durron. The Avengers and the ExGal team arrived in the Helska system, only to be ambushed by a group of coralskippers, killing all but Durron, Miko Reglia and Danni Quee. Kyp Durron managed to escape; Reglia, an Avenger, was captured, as was Danni Quee, an ExGal scientist. Reglia was tortured strenuously by the yammosk, but the Yuuzhan Vong spared Quee this, seeing her fit to die an honorable death.

As the Millennium Falcon fled Sernpidal, it was followed by Yuuzhan Vong forces to Dubrillion, the establishment of Lando Calrissian. The Yuuzhan Vong quickly and fiercely attacked Dubrillion, though they were narrowly defeated.

Leia Organa Solo, unable to fully convince Chief of State Borsk Fey'lya of the threat the Yuuzhan Vong posed, was only able to amass one Star Destroyer, the Rejuvenator, for an attack on Helska 4. The Republic went forward and attacked the Helska system, and though Danni Quee was rescued by Jacen Solo during the fighting, the Rejuvenator was destroyed, and Miko Reglia was killed. What few ships the Republic had left retreated and regrouped.

They eventually returned with a fleet of shieldships, using them to accelerate Helska 4's natural evaporation, freezing the entire planet and killing the yammosk. The planet also exploded under the pressure, naturally killing all Yuuzhan Vong still on it. It was with this battle that the war properly began, though the Yuuzhan Vong would not act for the next two months, using the time to amass their fleet further.

Early invasion

The New Republic crumbles under the relentless Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

"I am Yomin Carr, the harbinger of doom. I am the beginning of the end of your people!"
―Yomin Carr

The Yuuzhan Vong then began attacking worlds in their path with much ease. They conquered Dubrillion and Destrillion before moving onto Dantooine, where refugees from Dubrillion evacuated by Lando Calrissian were being housed. Thus, the Battle of Dantooine was a horrible massacre. During the battle, the Yuuzhan Vong first unleashed legions of reptoid Chazrach slave soldiers and beetle-like Thrall herders from their galaxy. Among those on the New Republic side were Anakin Solo and his older brother, Jacen. The two brothers would discover that these Chazrach were entirely mindless and were merely the Yuuzhan Vong's equivalent to battle droids. They slaughtered dozens of Chazrach and Luke Skywalker also destroyed a thrall herder, causing much of the enemy force to scatter and allowing the refugees to escape Dantooine before the enemy took it.

This was followed by the Battle of Ithor. During the battle, the extragalactic invaders attacked the beautiful, untouched jungle world of Ithor and the floating city of Tafanda Bay until Jedi Knight Corran Horn offered to duel the Yuuzhan Vong leader Shedao Shai in single combat. If Corran defeated Shedao, the Yuuzhan Vong would withdraw from the planet; however, if Corran lost, Shai would get back the body of his ancestor Mongei Shai and have Ithor. Though Corran bested his rival, Shai's second-in-command Deign Lian answered to a higher authority, Tsavong Lah. The latter ordered Lian to unleash a biological weapon from the Kor Chokk flagship Legacy of Torment which reduced all life on the planet to little more than black swamps of acidic ash. The Legacy was later destroyed when it crashed on Ithor, causing more carnage and contributing much to the Anti-Jediism of the galactic public. Many people came to revile the Jedi, blaming them for the invasion.

Despite this, some came to admire the Jedi, particularly Anakin. His heroic acts led many citizens to regard him as a galactic hero and the freshest face of the New Jedi Order — much like his grandfather was during the Clone Wars. There were many whispers that Anakin would one day take his uncle's place as the most powerful Jedi. The Jedi Order was also the target of the Yuuzhan Vong, who saw them as their greatest obstacle to galactic domination.

During the Battle of Fondor, Anakin would have nearly wiped out the assembled Yuuzhan Vong fleet at Fondor through the use of Centerpoint Station had it not been for Jacen's intervention. However, an old enemy in the form of the infamous Thrackan Sal-Solo fired the weapon, destroying the Yuuzhan Vong fleet while taking much of the allied Hapan fleet in the process.

Yuuzhan Vong hunt down a refugee believed to be a Jedi

Soon arose the problem of refugees from shattered planets that the government could not ignore. Thus, the Senate Select Committee for Refugees, or SELCORE, was formed to administer caring and settlement for refugees of planets conquered by the invaders. SELCORE selected Duro as its ideal haven and began terraforming the planet to house the refugees. However, its operations were sabotaged by Nom Anor under the disguise of a Duro scientist named Dr. Dassid Cree'Ar. Soon, the planet was conquered by the Yuuzhan Vong despite the efforts of the New Republic and was terraformed in their image.

Deadly balance

The Yuuzhan Vong eventually struck a deal with the Hutts that allowed them to pass through Hutt Space unharmed. But the Hutts were betrayed, and their worlds were attacked. The Peace Brigade, an organization of galactic beings that supported Yuuzhan Vong operations, was formed through Yuuzhan Vong agents. This organization also helped the Yuuzhan Vong capture Jedi. On Yavin 4, Yuuzhan Vong of the oppressed Shamed Ones came to admire the Jedi after a shamed Vong Vua Rapuung helped Anakin rescue Tahiri Veila, and Anakin helped Vua Rapuung gain redemption. As a result, a heresy was formed that infiltrated all the levels of Yuuzhan Vong society, particularly the underclass. With Coruscant rapidly becoming surrounded, the Yuuzhan Vong created the fearsome voxyn beasts that hunted Force-sensitive individuals. A Jedi strike team led by Anakin that consisted of Jedi like the Solo twins, Tenel Ka, and Zekk went to Myrkr and destroyed the voxyn breeding facility, though most of the team was slain. Anakin himself died while covering the retreat of the remaining Jedi after his body overflowed with the Force. The Yuuzhan Vong captured Coruscant after a long battle, which saw the suicide-sacrifice of Chief of State Borsk Fey'lya, and had it Vongformed, renaming it Yuuzhan'tar.

Crisis

"The end of the world. Who'd've thought we'd live to see it?"
―Han Solo

With the capture of Coruscant, the New Republic was thrown into disarray. Although localized victories were scored in the Hapes Cluster and other areas, the Vong fanned out throughout the galaxy, taking worlds almost at will. Planets that were not conquered outright often capitulated, or collapsed internally due to the efforts of collaborators. At this time, the Vong controlled most of the Core, the Inner Rim, and the galactic eastern area of the Mid and Outer Rims. The New Republic was reduced to a wedge of the southwest outer Rim, a small pocket connecting Kashyyyk and Mon Calamari, the Deep Core, and other minor areas. However, the Vong also began to experience internal difficulties, as the stress of gaining an Empire so large and so quickly, as well as reduced military strength, began to take its toll. With its numbers shrinking from the past years at war, the New Republic now was being faced with unified forces as their enemies conquered more planets.

Counterattack

"Do not assume I am a fool! You have won your victories by sending your troops over a rampart of our own dead!"
―Shimrra Jamaane

Following the conquest, the Battle of Borleias became the site of a major campaign that cost the Yuuzhan Vong greatly. The terraforming of Coruscant was sabotaged by Jacen. The New Republic moved to Mon Calamari, where Cal Omas was elected Fey'lya's successor as President of the New Republic after a short term by Pwoe as the technical head of state. Following a period of mourning, the Bothans declared a state of ar'krai genocide against the Yuuzhan Vong in retaliation for the death of Borsk Fey'lya. The Defense Force then prepared to attack the weary Yuuzhan Vong. At the same time the Alpha Red Project, which would have destroyed the Yuuzhan Vong and their organic technology was destroyed by Vergere. Admiral Ackbar, though retired and advanced in age, began advising the reforming Defense Force and its commanders on the best ways to take the fight to the Yuuzhan Vong. Fleets were reorganized and new units were trained and equipped. The former Supreme Commander invigorated the beings in the New Republic military, giving them back their pride and confidence. After determining their weaknesses, Ackbar developed a trap for the Yuuzhan Vong. A large portion of their fleet was then lured into the Deep Core moon Ebaq 9, with a third of their force being decimated by several combined fleets of the New Republic. On Ebaq 9 Tsavong Lah was slain by Jaina Solo and Vergere sacrificed herself to eliminate the rest of the invaders. At this point, the New Republic was reorganized as the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, also called the Galactic Alliance. Incorporating a new federal system, the new Galactic Alliance focused itself to defeating the Vong threat and restoring peace to the galaxy.

New Republic starfighters engage the enemy in space.

After the victory, Galactic Alliance heroes Han, Leia, and Twin Suns Squadron headed out to find powerful allies while Luke began a mission to find the legendary living planet Zonama Sekot. The Jedi stumbled upon a Yuuzhan Vong attack against the Imperial Remnant and helped fight the invaders off, gaining a powerful ally. Meanwhile, the Yuuzhan Vong Nom Anor disguised himself as the prophet Yu'Shaa and began stirring up the Jeedai heresy on Yuuzhan'tar (formerly Coruscant). He did so by posing as a Shamed One after fleeing the wrath of Supreme Overlord Shimrra for suggesting the disastrous Ebaq 9 mission.

Luke's team headed into Chiss space to obtain information on the Unknown Regions and, hopefully, Zonama Sekot. Meanwhile, Han and Leia's team headed to Bakura, where they thwarted a new Ssi-Ruuk invasion. The Jedi searched the Chiss libraries for the missing planet. Later, the Jedi located Zonama Sekot, but so did the Yuuzhan Vong. Sekot drove off the Vong attackers as the Jedi landed on its surface. Meanwhile, Han and Leia attempted to bring a communication station in the Unknown Regions back online while the Jedi negotiated with the living world to help them in the war.

Galactic victory

"The war is ended."
―Warmaster Nas Choka

However, Yuuzhan Vong operatives stole one of Zonama Sekot's organic starships. Furthermore, the Shaper Nen Yim discovered that Sekotan technology was extremely similar to Yuuzhan Vong technology and that her people have gone terribly astray. Nom Anor disguised himself as Yu'Shaa arrived on Zonama Sekot along with Nen Yim and the priest Harrar where they discovered that many of the species from their galaxy could be found on the planet. A plot by Nom Anor to destroy the living world was luckily foiled. Han and Leia also managed to rescue hundreds of high-ranking Alliance prisoners facing sacrifice to the enemy's gods. The Galactic Alliance prepared a fleet to defend Mon Calamari from the invaders while another Alliance fleet engaged the Yuuzhan Vong at Coruscant. In the end, Supreme Overlord Shimrra was killed by Luke Skywalker and the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated. Warmaster Nas Choka ordered the Yuuzhan Vong to surrender, and they were placed under Zonama Sekot's jurisdiction.

Aftermath

Zonama Sekot then revealed itself to be the seed of the long-dead original Yuuzhan Vong homeworld. One of the surrender terms the Galactic Alliance placed before the Yuuzhan Vong was that they were to help rebuild Coruscant. The Galactic Alliance moved its temporary capital to Denon, and eventually went back to Coruscant after the rebuilding was complete.

After the cease-fire, the remaining Yuuzhan Vong were recalled from across the galaxy to Zonama. Zonama, with its Yuuzhan Vong, disappeared back into the Unknown Regions, so that the Vong could live in peace and renew their relationship with Sekot. They planned to abolish their caste system and eliminated the posts of Warmaster and Supreme Overlord, although Choka seemed to remain their de facto leader. A few dozen shapers remained behind on Coruscant to assist in the rebuilding, and scattered Yuuzhan Vong forces in outlying portions of the galaxy refused Choka's call to surrender, and continued fighting for at least several more months.

Many Bothans, however, were unforgiving for the death of Fey'lya, and refused to end their state of ar'krai genocide against the Yuuzhan Vong, sending ships into the Unknown Regions to hunt for Zonama. By 36 ABY, however, their primary efforts had been foiled by the Alliance, which had impounded the ships detailed for the expedition.

Young Padawans

when the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, the Jedi council was split between Luke's traditionalist philosophy and Kyp's aggressive tactics.

a group of young padawans, no more than ten years of age, were hidden away to be kept out of the war in the praxeum on Yavin 4 however in 26 ABY the Vong Destroyed it. Anakin solo with the help of the Smuggler kingpin Talon Karrde managed to evacuate the children. the star destroyer Errant Venture became the new Jedi academy. then The space station Shelter from there a few padawans ventured off due to the curiosity of one of the students, a Miraluka female.

these Padawans, all on their own, were eventually separated during the harshest times of the war. Some got picked up by smugglers, others by Pirates or bounty hunters, all trying to make it through this time of war. some followed the Force to wherever it may have led them.

The Yuuzhan Vong war ended in 30 ABY.

the year is 35 ABY and a few of these Padawans are about to meet once again.

after nine years the padawans will once again meet on the Twi'lek home planet of Ryloth, in the Kala'uun spaceport. One waits diligently for the return of the others upon Ryloth's surface.

((These are you guys, use this knowledge in your character sheets, you're probably not a Jedi anymore, you spent your time trying to survive and Jedi training wasn't all that helpful. Your are able to still call upon the force, and it has helped you at times, but your training was not yet complete, some of you have gone close to the dark side and some of you have stayed true to the light. but your lightsabers are gone and your training is a forgotten memory. But the force has brought you together once again.

it is possible for you to have remained a Jedi if you followed the force, please don't everybody follow the force or this will make the RP suck.))
