i am thinking of getting my hips pierced.
i posted this in the gaia general froums but all i got back was a couple i of people saying gross and surface piercings are stupid, but not any GOOD advice so, i need advice on how to look after it, how it should be done, is there a way to stop infection and/or rejection.
they will be my first piercings and cost $180 for both (australian) is that a good price??
if anyone has them feel free to give opinion or if you are a piercist, if not i don't need you opinion if you think it is stupid ok??

I would go to bmezine.com and research hip/pelvic piercings there. I don't know a lot about them, so I may not be much help. I do know that they will be VERY difficult to heal and prevent from rejecting, that's just the nature of surface piercings. I would encourage you to do it, but be careful. Talk to your peircer about it and give yourself lots of time to make sure you want to do this. I wouldn't suggest this as a first piercing though because I've heard it is a rather painful and lengthy process, and I would fear that it would turn you off to the idea of piercing in general.

I hope I could help!

They will be VERY difficult to heal... but it can be done. Stock up on sea salt to do soaks in warm baths! Oh... and make sure the piercer has done SOME sort of surface piercings. A surface bar would not work at all, make sure PTFE is being used or Bioplast. Good luck! I want pics!!!

It is a flexible plastic that can be sterilized and has a MUCH lower rejection rate than typical surface bars. The shaft part of the barbell is plastic and the balls are still typical .316 surgical grade stainless steel.
