Matt Bellamy uses, almost exclusively it seems, his large number of customized Hugh Manson-made guitars. List Of Matt Bellamy's Custom Manson-Built GuitarsHow do you like their sound? If you could have Hugh customize a guitar specifically for you and you alone, what would you have him do to it?

I think most of the sound really comes from the ******** amazing Fuzz Factory (which is expensive as hell if you've looked into buying one like I have, upwards of $300 USD) built into the circuit board, otherwise all guitar pickups sound the same basically (divided into the subcategories of humbucker, single coil and P90 of course), it's just that the ones Matt uses probably have a higher output since they are better than your average pickup.
Personally, if I had the money and I was Matt, I'd just buy a nice Telecaster, they sound a lot like them if you run the same effects and amps through it, and heck he could probably get higher treble out of the bitchin' single coil and twisted tele pickup in the neck, and we all know Matt would dig that. Then again, he doesn't like using well known guitar brands like Fender because of past legends who've also used them (hendrix, blah blah..)

I'm actually trying to get the money together for a Manson Custom. I want, more than anything else, the Fuzz Factory built in. I mean, it's just SO DAMN COOL! But, as has been mentioned, they're like £169 new on eBay. I'd also go for a Phase-90 shifter, which is what Matt uses to play things like the solo from City Of Delusion, that sounds like a trumpet. Have to go for the classic Manson body shape, and a Kaoss Pad is a must, probably go for a nice mate black finish, either that or a really deep blue. God, I could go on for days about what I'd do with a Manson Custom. No lasers though, i don't fancy having 20lbs of LED and microprocessor on my shoulder, cool as it would look.
Edit: Ohsweetjesus, the original Kaos Pad guitar is broken. Matt threw it at a strobe light a couple monthes ago and it's now split in half. RIP, M1D1. crying
