Okay, I was wondering how everyone first heard of the series. Did you automatically read the back cover and fall in love? Did your friend foist it onto in an attempt to draw you into the literary world? Stole it? Randomly picked it up in the book store?
So, post when you first read your book (age) and why did you get the book.
For me, at first I hated the press that the series was getting. I thought it was silly and then my older brother (I was 11 at the time) bought me the first two and I didn't want to be rude so I read them.
I love them, even if they make Slytherins seem a bit...bad most of the time.

I was in 5th grade, and was walking through our school's annual Scholastic Book sale. I had no idea what Harry Potter was about; I'd never heard of it, but I liked the cover and the first two pages (I always read the first two pages) so I bought it. Ever since then I've loved them!

I was only seven or eight years old, I believe. I think I was in second grade when I first picked up a Potter book, but it could've been later. I recieved the first two books as a birthday present from my aunt and uncle. They knew I loved magic-themed items and that I loved to read. What could've been better than Harry Potter? I'm sixteen now and in the eleventh grade - final book released. <3

I was eleven and the first movie came out.(I'm so cliched)My mom had me read the first book and I was hooked.Better than that, the fact that I finished it in two weeks, and it was on our schools advanced list, almost got me in!But the system screwed up and I wasn't.

I was about 10 when my mom got it for me. At first I only read the first page and was like "this isn't about harry potter! who the heck are the Dursley's?!?!" then mom got it on tape for my little brothers and played it in the car, then it made more sense.

I was in sixth grade when my grandmother gave me the first book. I didn't read it then because i thought that the books were stupid, but in seventh grade, when I was sick I read it, and the second one in three days, fell in love and have read them religiously since. Every few months I read them over, just to get the grips back with it.

I hadn't heard about till the movie was being advertised. I saw the trailer and was like "Thats cool. I'll read it."
Funny story. I was half way done reading the first book and I went to the theater with my school to go watch the first movie. The power went out right in the middle, right where I was at in the book!!!! I saw the movie later in the theater once I had read the rest of the book.
Since then I have been a "Potter-head" lol. I still collect the tradeing cards, although they are harder to find now a days. I own all the american dvds except the 5th. Haven't got that one yet. I also own the first and third in japanese(which I study) and of course all seven books in english(and the first one in japanese) I also own a few books written about harry potter, not by j.k. rowling, as well as fantasitic beasts and the quidditch one she wrote.

I was 8..ish, when I first read it. My aunt sent me the book for Christmas, but I thought it was stupid because I went to one of those Christian schools where they say magic is evil, but when I got my new glasses, I had to see if I could read better with them. So I pulled the first book out of my closet, and it was Harry Potter! Then I read them all, and then I found fanfiction, and now I'm a Harry Potter obsessed person. I blame my glasses.

Saw the first and second movie then read the lot... Though stupid me read Goblet of Fire before Prisoner of Azkaban... 'Who the hell is Sirius Black!?' it was sort of like that. Before that I was sort of preoccupied with fighting my way through Lord of The rings I was ten or 9... =D
