It was sunrise and the sun had barely peaked over the edge of the vast ocean. Only one figure stood near the edge of the beach as the waves washed over her ebony hooves and splashing against her flame-colored legs. Why did she come back here day after day? was it because of the promise she made to her long-lost mate? Or was it because she couldn't let go of this place? whatever the reason, she just stood there day after day, staring out across the ocean for someone that would never come back to her.
Flicking her tri-colored hair away from her blood-red eyes, she lightly picked up one foreleg and splashed it in the incoming tide. She hadn't remembered how long she had been there, but she sensed that someone else was nearby. swiveling her ebony-hued ears, she took a few steps away from the ocean, her gaze looking around for whoever was nearby.

And indeed, someone else was nearby. A harmless, innocent someone. Though not on the beach quite yet, she would be soon. Up on the cliffs, the reddish creme mare peered over the edge onto the wide expanse of sand and sea. The water was far out at this point, which was good. She remembered that Maurice had told her only to try when the sea was farther out, otherwise she'd have a hell of a time getting back.
One...
She opened her wings, fanning them out to either side, and held them steady.
Two...
She took a deep breath, looking straight out at the ocean before her. Beautiful.
Three!
She took a large step off the side of the cliff, tossing herself seemingly carelessly over the edge. Instead of hurtling towards her demise at the base of the cliffs, her outstretched wings carried her down at an angle towards the waterline. She laughed, a wide grin on her face, as she continued to glide down from the cliffs. She was very glad she'd come here to meet Maurice, and even moreso now that he had taught her this fun game. She suddenly spotted the dark Ichsa a little ways off, and her feet looked ablaze with color. She angled her wings to the side, and glided closer to the other creature.
She outstretched her forehooves to meet the sand, and after much practice earlier, was able to make a seamless transition from gliding to cantering. She slowed to a trot, then halted a comfortable distance from the other Ichsa. Well, what she thought the other might deem a comfortable distance. She didn't mind how close or far she was. "Hi!" She beamed, ears perked. "I'm Nizhoni, who are you? Did you come here to watch the sun rise?"

Ilda jumped slightly as she heard the soft beat of hooves heading towards her. Quickly, she swiveled her head around to see an orange-red hued mare heading towards her. she was relieved to see that it was an Ichsa of the same gender as herself. If a stallion would have came she wouldn't have known what to say to him. Her heart still belonged to her beloved who had left many years ago. Taking a few steps back, she lowered her head down and stared at the soft sand nervously. despite it being a mare talking to her, she still felt too shy to talk at the moment. the only thing she did was flick her tail slowly.
'Stop being stupid, Ildri. It isn't like she is going to try and hurt you, she thought to herself as she tried to gather her courage up to talk to the newcomer. 'Just try to make some contact. It has been forever since you had any contact with any Nequus.' Shaking slightly, she gazed up at the orange-red hued mare as she pinned her ears back against her skull. "Ildri," she said in a shaky voice. "I always come here. It reminds me of...my lost love."

She flicked an ear, watching the other mare curiously. She seemed a bit nervous, poor thing, but fortunately nothing Niz hadn't dealt with before. After all, Maurice had been nervous when she first met him, too. "That's a lovely name," she said with a nod. "My first time visiting here was just a few days ago, to see a friend of mine. At least, I think it was my first time," she said, frowning thoughtfully.
Lost love? She couldn't help but gasp, taking a few steps closer, forgetting about her memory problems. "How does it remind you of your lost love? What happened to him?" Whether or not those questions would be appropriate yet didn't occur to the ditzy mare, all she knew was this poor dear had lost someone and it was her job to find out why and comfort her about it.
Good intentions, but probably a bad way of going about it.

Ildri nodded her head slightly, happy that someone else thought that her name was lovely. She used to hate it when her sisters teased her about her name. she thought it was lovely until her sisters started teasing her about it. That was when he showed up. But then as quickly as he came he had left her life, leaving an empty hole in her heart. she missed him deeply, but there was no way she could find him on her own. Maybe one day he would come back or she would move on with her life and find new love. hearing that it was Niz' second time coming to the beach, she smiled a small smile.
It was then that she heard the small gasp. Did she say something stupid? She then heard the other mare's words and she winced slightly. "He...left me one sunrise. I figured that he needed time away from me, but..." her voice faded away as she turned her gaze towards the slowly rising sun. Why did he leave her? that would be a question that would never be answered.

"He did?" She asked, gasping again. She trotted a few paces closer to the other mare. It was true, she didn't care how close she was to someone, she felt comfortable around anyone. But she did know not everyone felt the same way, so she kept a respectable distance between herself and the flame-adorned Ichsa before her.
"Where did he go?" She asked, ears perked. And why would he leave? Maybe because he needed time away, but that wasn't a very good reason, especially if he never came back. "Did he go over the ocean? Or did he go up to one of the mountains?" Inquired the curious mare. She flicked an ear; clearly subtlety was something she was seriously lacking at the moment.

Ildri took a few tiny steps away from the other mare. It seemed that she was sticking her nose into something that Ildri didn't want to discuss. But then again it had been several years since she had seen her lost love. Maybe it was time for her to move on and find someone else. Shaking her head, she pricked one ear up as she began to warm up slightly towards the newcomer. "Yes, he did for reasons unknown."
It was then that she heard the other mare ask where he went. She merely shrugged at the question. "That, too, remains a mystery. He didn't show up here one day. We always met here, but one day he just didn't show. I kept coming here in hopes that he would come back, but..." Her voice faded away slightly as she took a deep breath. "But it has been almost five years since I've last seen him. Maybe...maybe he is gone for good. Probably dead."

Oh, the poor dear! She would be devastated if one of her friends disappeared and she never saw them again. She couldn't quite comprehend loves and mates quite yet, as she still had the mindset of a foal and had never experienced anything close to love as of yet.
"Five years?!" She repeated, eyes wide. This Ichsa mare certainly was faithful, to continue returning to the beach every day in the hopes of seeing her love again. Well, it certainly sounded like he wasn't ever going to return, but the creme mare thought it best not to say such a thing. "You poor dear... Is there anything I can do?" There probably wasn't, but she still felt inclined to ask. Perhaps there was something she could do to help, after all?

Ildri nodded her head at the other Ichsa’s question. She knew that five years was too long to wait for someone, but he had been her only love at that time. Maybe it was time for her to move on and find someone else to love. She nodded her head slightly, as if to firmly tell herself that she should do that after her and the other mare departed.
Hearing Nizhoni’s question, she shook her head slightly. “Nothing you can do, unless you can tell me where I can find more of our kin,” she said to her, her wings unfolding to reveal their beauty. They were exactly like her hair-starting red at the roots, then fading to orange near the middle and then to yellow near the tips. She lightly tossed her mane out of her face and looked at Nizhoni curiously.

Niz flicked an ear as she watched Ildri nod several times, then smiled happily as she pranced in a circle. "I don't know many, but I do know a few of them," she said with a grin and a giggle. "Now, let's see." She halted, getting an amusing look of intense concentration on her face, which included wrinkling her nose and sticking her tongue out.
"There's Maurice," she said suddenly with a nod and a grin, ears perked. "He's blue with a white marking on his shoulder and he's got a funny little accent, and a pretty water-filled pendant around his neck. Oh! And then there's Sol, he's an off-white color, kinda gray, and he has a black pendant around his neck. He's also got these cool shiny greave-type things on his lower forelegs," she explained with a nod. "Hmm..." Did she know anyone else? Back came the intense concentrated look, frowning down at the sand at her hooves as she thought. Did she? No, she didn't think she did. "I think that's it," she said suddenly with a nod. I can't think of anymore Ichsas I've seen. There must be more, though."

Ildri nodded her head, listening with close attention to the Ichsa that Niz listed off. The blue one seemed to be an interesting Ichsa, but anyone that handsome had to have already picked out a mate. Not that Ildri cared about that anymore. Her broken heart was too broken for any new love to enter it. Maybe she might become an old maid for the rest of her life.
“That’s quite alright. I am happy that there are others of our kin out there,” she said to Niz.

"Well of course there's more than that!" She said with a laugh, flicking her curly tail. She leaned closer to Ildri, though somehow she managed to keep her balance and not fall over. "We're not the only two of our kind in this whole big world of ours," she said in a quieter, confidential, and slightly amused tone. She leaned back to give the mare more room and offered her a grin, ears perked and emerald eyes bright. "I'm sure if you went looking, you'd find a whole bunch of them! I've seen herds of every other kind of nequus, so there CERTAINLY must be herds of our kind around. It's all just a matter of finding them!" She said enthusiastically, spinning around in a circle.

Ildri flinched slightly as the other mare leaned closer to her. She suddenly felt very nervous around this Ichsa she had barely met less than an hour ago. She didn’t know anything about her other than her name. for all she knew, the other mare could be a lunatic. But she kept her expression calm. She didn’t want to upset the other Ichsa by showing her fear to Niz.
Hearing that there might be a herd of Ichsa, she pricked her ears up slightly, some of her fear fading away. “Maybe there is, but it might be well hidden,” she said in a slightly soft voice. She nodded her head slightly, wanting to believe her own words were true.

Nizhoni was a lunatic in her own right, but she merely suffered from long-term memory loss and she did her best to help people, even though what she tried to do didn't always help others. "Oh, Maurice is from a herd!" She exclaimed suddenly, her eyes bright and ears perked. Oh, how helpful she felt! "He's from a herd! I don't know where it is, but if there's one there's bound to be more. You should find him and ask him about it!"
And she should, if she was so set on joining a herd. Was she? The creme mare didn't know. She flicked her ear suddenly, a thought swiftly diving into her mind and slicing the others in half to bring itself to the front. To Shrilal! It'd been too long since she'd left her little Rit-friend there, and she needed to tell him all about her latest adventures. She flashed Ildri a smile, flicking her curly tail. "I've gotta go now, I need to go talk to a friend of mine," she explained, turning and rearing a bit. "I'll see you again soon!" So exclaimed the mare as she bolted into a ground-eating gallop down the stretch of beach before extending her wings, jumping into the wind and flapping her tendril wings a bit to gain altitude. Yes, she'd see the pretty mare again at some point.
