He probably wasn't suppose to be off on his own but he hadn't left the cover of the trees and he knew how to get back to Mom and Dad. They let the other two go wandering a bit so he thought he could too. At least he was less likely to get into trouble than his brother. He'd just go running back to mom if something scared him enough.

Shaking his head he pushed a few vines out of his way with his wings and then spent a few minuets shaking his feathers free. The wings were good for many things but to his bane they were also good for getting tangled. Hopefully one day he'd get as good as mom as keeping them out of things.

Hopping a little over a few tree roots he stopped and looked around. He'd never come this far before and wanted to make sure he knew where he was so he could get back home eventually.

Humming to herself, Amarantine skipped through the surrounding trees of the woodland, her dainty feet treading carefully but surely through the roots and leaves that dotted the forest floor.

She liked it out here; it was breezy and smelled nice and looked pretty and was filled with all sorts of interesting things that could be watched and chased and played with. Mama and Papa liked it too, she knew, so it was always easy to get permission to go out and play...as long as she didn't wander TOO far. Papa and Mama would often send she and her brother Leon off to have fun while they stayed behind in the clearing, which didn't seem fun at ALL, but she wasn't going to complain about the chance to frolic on her own!

And that was what she was up to today.

Fluffing out his wings for a moment he continued walking. He was confident, or at least mostly, that he could get back to this spot and back to all the other spots he'd marked in his mind so wandering a little deeper wouldn't hurt.

The sound of something else moving about caught his attention and as he made his way though the greenery he noticed something a awful lot like hi sister. Except this one was a different color and she had wings like him!

Though she was used to prowling around with her brother, Amary was well acquainted with the fact that he wasn't with her today. Consequently, she was more than a little surprised to hear sounds that sounded a great deal like her brother moving through the trees...and even moreso when she realized that the colt being so noisy was nothing at ALL like her brother!

"You're a stranger!" Her first reaction, plainly spoken, was one of both shock and fascination; shock because he wasn't expected, fascination because she'd never met a stranger before. "You're a real, live, STRANGER!"

How cool!

He was slightly startled when she started talking to him and calling him things. He waggled a wing at her in what he hoped she would take as a 'hush' as he stepped out from where he'd been almost hiding against a tree. She was being loud and loud wasn't all that good when there could be things around.

He tilted his head at her and wondered what stranger meant. He hadn't heard it before but he though it had to mean him. So it must mean either that he was not her or that he was someone she hadn't seen before.

Regardless of what the true meaning behind the wing waggle was, Amary was too excited to really read much into it. As far as she was concerned, it was a wave of greeting, so she returned it with one of her own, watching him with interest as he came over.

Imagine, a real live stranger! Her parents had told her all about friends and strangers and how you could make a friend out of a stranger and how it was good to have friends; living in the relative seclusion of the clearing meant that she hadn't really had a chance to test those theories yet, however...so this was a really neat opportunity!

As soon as he was close enough, therefore, she was determined to make the most of this chance. "This is so neat, I've never met a stranger before! You must have come a long way, or else you and your family travel a lot or something cause I've been around here lots and you're the first stranger I've ever seen! So far it's just been me, Mama, Papa, and my brother, but you're DIFFERENT!"

She talked. A lot. Almost more than his sister and brother did when they were arguing about who was better! Which compared to his few words here and there was a lot.

He blinked at her words and nodded slightly. "Don't live far..." His voice was soft, mostly due to lack of use, but he was pretty sure she'd hear him. Mom and Dad didn't live that far from here but it was probably far enough that they'd never crossed paths. After all he'd never been this far out before.

Though she wouldn't say that she herself was a chatterbox, Amary was struck by how QUIET the other foal was. Leon said more words than that when HE was around...maybe this stranger was a wordsaver instead? No, a word HOARDER, hoarding all his words?

Well, if he wanted to keep all his words close, she could try that with hers, too!

"Far enough though, I guess, cause I've never seen you a'fore. What's your name?"

He contemplated answering her for a minuet. He didn't know her but his parents hadn't said anything about not talking to anyone else. They probably just expected him to not talk at all anyway.

"Sigao...." He'd managed to learn how to make a slight sweeping bow with his wings after much falling on his face and a few scrapes so he showed it off now that he'd introduced himself.

Dad probably wouldn't be too happy he was being so nice to a -girl- but he never figured Dad's opinion on that matter was all that sound anyway. That's why i just stayed quiet with Mom when Res and Dorian fought.

Oh, he bowed coolly too! That was one thing that had always fascinated Amary about her father, the way that he could do SO many things with his wings. She herself wasn't that talented, but maybe in time...

Still, it was neat that he could do it. "Sigao? I'm Amary, and it's nice to meetcha, Sigao. Have you ever met any strangers before?"

Might as well start off on a conversational level, right?

He shook his head and tucked his wings back against his side. He'd only meet his family and the ones that Mom lived with. They weren't strangers since they were family.

She was the first one.

Moving a wing he rubbed at one of his ears to get rid of a itch. His sister must have hated it not being able to do that when both he and Dorian could.

Eyeing him for a few moments, Amary soon decided that the head shake was all the answer she was going to get out of him. Well, if he didn't want to talk, that was fine, cause SHE wanted to talk and as long as he was still there, she could talk to him.

"Me either. It's just me and my parents and my brother and that's it, and I've never even SEEN anyone else before. It must be because there are so many trees around here and I can't e'zactly go that far by myself yet. You're a neat stranger, though; I like your tail!" It was, after all, a very novel tail, now that she looked at it.

Frowning slightly he flicked his tail toward him and craned his neck around to look at it. He'd never thought about having a neat tail. After all Dad had the same tail and so did Res. Mom and Dorian didn't though, they had ones like hers.

He flexed is wings in a slight shrug and turned so she could get a better look at it.

As Sigao turned, Amary walked around him slightly so that she could better see the tail. Up close, it was even cooler; instead of being a tuft of hair attached to his rump, his hand what looked like a whole other LEG that ended in a tuft of hair. It was a very strange tail; she wondered if her could do things with it, like grab things, or if it only worked like her tail. Or maybe he could stand on it?

"Can you do things with your tail?" All that hers could do was swat flies.

He'd never really tried to do things with his tail. His wings seemed like good things to learn how to use since they were so close and easy to move. His tail was all the way down there though.

Frowning slightly he tried to wrap it around one of his legs and almost succeeded. It wasn't flexible enough to do it very well though. Getting an idea he shifted and poked her cheek with his tail. He could do that it seemed.
