Yeah so interesting problem here:
in real life I am way more into B&D. That is to say, tying up and discipline.
However.
in movies/television/books, I love hardcore torture (performed on men by men. It's weird but that's not the point).
I wonder why I love S&M more when reading/watching but I like B&D more when I'm actually doing it.
Does anyone else feel this way?

There's stuff about every aspect of it that I love. In practical terms, we're more a D/s couple than anything, with a little bit of pain play. When it comes to depictions of stuff, I love hardcore torture - unlike you, I only like seeing it performed on women. What turns you on when you look at it is NOT necessarily the same thing that you want to do. There's plenty of stuff that turns me on in comics or stories which I would disgust me in real life.

I got turned on one time seeing a woman choke another woman one time in a movie, but that's slightly beside the point.
I like B&D and D&s and S&M. Although I only like certain parts of each of those things, I do like all of them. Anyway, no matter what part of BDSM you're into, you're still considered being into BDSM. And it's not like anyone around here is going to ostracize you if you like, say... D/s and not S&M.
Yay for rambling posts that make no sense!

D&s (D/s) is just Domination and submission. If you're familiar with the concept of 24/7 D/s relationships, it could consist only of something like... the submissive allowing the Dominant to choose their clothing for them and have to ask permission from the Dom/me for just about everything. Being submissive is essentially about serving the Dom/me and giving control to them.
Is any of this making sense?

SarahArden Yeah men choking each other is nice.
Wait so D&S is just...give me an example. 24/7 is a pretty intense form of D/s In D/s there is a dominant and a submissive. fioce describes a dominant as a "big mean bossy person". she'll be "rewarded" when we get home. very basic definitionsA dominant is someone who assumes responsibility, in whole or in part, for another person's well being. A submissive is someone who serves another (sexually or otherwise), full time or part time, for their pleasure and that of their dominants. The job of the dominant is not "to be served" and the job of the submissive is not "to be cared for". It's a symbiotic relationship where what one does helps the other. Khunn

Thank you, Khunn. I've never been very good at those kinds of things. You did a wonderful job of explaining.

Oh I get it biggrin
Hm as appealing as that is, I think it'd drive me crazy after a little while haha. But I do like my partner to ask me permission and whatnot.

I completely understand you and feel very similar. I think, for me at least, it's the very small granule of fear, but for me I also think that would make it all the more exciting. Another problem I had was my last partner. For one, because we were both switches, he was a little soft at times, so we were both apprehensive about actually trying a lot of it, there was just too much sub in us flaring out to want to hurt our respective dom, even if we knew we'd both enjoy it.

I like it all. Equally. Just not all the time. And not always all at the same time.

I'm really into D/s on the whole, as well as things like bondage and restraint. I also find that a lot of S/m and pain play practices really turn me on, but only if I'm thinking about them or reading about them... it bothers me to watch someone performing them on someone else. It's one thing to be under the knife and in the middle of the situation, but I get turned off by how violent it looks from the outside.

Not being able to experiment whatsoever as of now, I usually just have to take and go with my instincts or gut on what I like when I read about it.
Whether it's SM or BD, I love to read books with it- I always have, and I love writing it myself. ^_^ Personally...I don't know. I enjoy aspects of both, you could say.

I've got less than a year to go before i can LEGALLY experiment... but I LOVE reading and writing about BDSM. I honestly don't know how I'd feel if I was in a 24/7 relationship. I think it'd make my life easier, because I can't really make my own decisions as it stands. (it's just because I am indecisive) at the same time, I don't know if I'd "grow tired" of it or not...

You could always give it a try and if you do get tired of it you could discus it with your partner and work something else out.
