Captain: Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryūsai

Purpose: Members of the 1st Division are said to be the best of the best. In times of war the high ranking members of this division will be the ones relaying orders to the Shinigami forces. The Captain of the 1st Division is the head of all the Gotei 13 and every Captain reports directly to him. The 1st Division is thought to be the most prestigious division of them all.

Description of Division: This is the only Division located at the center of the Seireitei; the rest are located around it in a circular pattern. The Division Headquarters is always busy and there are people constantly running around trying to get things done. Captain Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryūsai is just as busy as any one of his subordinates looking over important issues and making sure that order and law are being kept.
